Bit of a rig up with an idea for a cockpit

No I havent decided on a career change, but I am wondering has anyone used a hairdryer on auto rattle can paints IE Halfords or Hicote or similar and what are the results? The other one I was wondering about was something I saw on a woodturning video for drying wood. Its basically a big enough box with a lamp head or just the bulb placed into a hole in it. Obviously the heat from the lamp does its stuff but I was wondering if its possible to make a body shop type bakeoven for painting and whats the drawbacks if any?

Has anyone got a mad bull driver or similar they could measure for me? I'm having a mess about making some seats and plan to fit one of the head and shoulders style drivers so I would like to know shoulder width and helmet width (oo-er!!) if someone would be so kind

Got the outer vinyls put on. I'm unsure whether to do the insides or not. This might sound daft but adding the decals seems to give the impression of taller sidewalls

Got my All Terrain Vinyls through the post from L and L. At least I`ll have something to do after works cos this rain doesnt look like letting up

Some help please if yu don`t mind. Does anyone know what the little covers for leds are called and who sells them? Its the little round clear coloured plastic things that go over an LED to make a lamp. I`ve tried searching but nothings coming up, so I`m not sure if I`ve got the right name for them. cheers

Thats disgusting. Being a driver in and around a busy town and the son of bus driver even you lot will admit you don`t help yourselves at times and arguments are bound to happen but theres lines you don`t cross and gobbing in someones face is definitely up there. Hope your ok and you nail the cretin. Apart from the polis make sure your licensing authority or council get the footage as well

Productive morning so far. Windows made and in, sanded and light holes made. Masked up and ready for priming. Time for brews and bacon butties now

Well the body arrived from Kamtec this morning so got the basic cutting out done. Hopefully a quiet day tomorrow to some more fettling done on it.

Not a thing yet. Too windy and wet to do anything remotely like spraying and Still no body turned up. According to Hermes (XXXXX!!!) they are still sitting on it

Where`s the best place to buy these these days? Is it still Ebay or do some of the modelshops carry it now? I and needing a couple of sheets of A4 of each. !mm Lexan and 2mm max on the plasticard cheers

Finish the Jimny, with some smoke to the windows. Start a Bowler project when the body turns up, Source some plasticard and lexan and some body fittings So far anyway

Does backing work for hard bodies as well as lexan? So you would put your primer layers on then a base colour then your main colour?

Thanks to that delightful combination of the boss and household chores, I`ve managed to do a grand total of nowt for two days

I used the core rc paint on a drifter body for the bairn, well was going to be a runner for mine but he`s claimed it. Anyway What should have been a metallic red turned into pink when backed. Experienced the same issues with big droplets appearing right in the middle of a pass over. However also used a tin of Core paint clear sparkle as a first mist coat and had no issues at all. On a side note the Fast Finish white i used as a backing for both bodies (2x tins)i wasnt impressed with at all, seemed to go everywhere but where the nozzle was pointing and seemed very powdery yet the blue the young un used for his skyline body from Fast Finish was bob on. As @Busdriver says it seems to be very much luck of the draw

Not much today. Ordered a new Bowler from Kamtec, (yeah Keiths back open!!!) and a set of wheels from L&L. It`ll be another week of the mrs moaning but hey ho

Managed to get a bit more done yesterday. Slight overspray on the front bumper where the masking tape has failed. Annoying but not the end of the world. I really do like the body on these so may look for another as a shelfer and keep this one as a runner/project. Windows are to smoke yet because like a doughnut I forgot to order the paint!!
