I’ve had a couple of these for a few years now and they really good.

Got a few I keep in the van with washers, tap washers, fibre washers etc and a bigger version for a screwbox and even batter around at work you can`t knock them. Good strong gear

  2. Probably been done on here a million times but how many tamiya 150ml cans will it take to cover a Jimny properly? plan is to do red body with silver arches and bumpers so PS-12 Silver and PS-2 red. And would you back them with a white or something?

I've been thinking about a Mk2 escort shell, there is a guy selling TT-02 chassis with a escort shell on and BBS style wheels. Looks good and people are bidding like crazy - its up to £230 currently. ANyway, L& L models don't have any stock and Kamtec are closed until a week on Monday, can't even browse their website. I also don't know if the escort shell will fit my TL-01.

I would like to replace the original shell, but they appear to be unobtainable, ditto for the sticker set, the body is ahred with other 155 models but the sticker set is the biggest problem

Tell me about it ! they've sort of mounted up under the banner of "I'll do that later..."

From what I remember of the TL01 the escort should fit

  4. Find something to do with a TT-02 chassis but struggling at the minute due to places being shut or struggling for stock. Luckily got a bit more spare cash this month than I expected so don`t know whether to sit on my hands for a bit until stocks a bit better in the UK or just crack on and order from Tamico. Fancying a Pumpkin or a jimny but not sure at the minute as i might be able to wangle both

This. Just got an email from DHL, totally in German, and spent a funny few minutes reading it to myself in a cartoonish "Zee Germans" type of accent. I only placed the order yesterday, they've been fantastic at getting it together and getting it sent. Got to love that service.

If you don`t mind me asking are you UK based and is it still worth it ordering from Tamico with exchange rate and covid at the minute? As far as I can work out after a quick shuftie this morning things are a little bit cheaper and more importantly in stock. Just wondering what delivery is like

  6. Fancy another pumpkin after owning two previously but all I can seem to find is either a black version or the metallic. Not fussed about either paint job to be honest as I have had a normal which was good but dont really go for box art and a chrome version before which both were the usual fun to bash round with but not very satisfying in the build department. Stuck some led`s in but I felt as if a big chunk of the build process was missing not having to paint it or choose a colour scheme for it. Anyway i`m waffling so the question is how easy are these factory paint schemes to either remove or paint over and can you still get as good a finish as a virgin shell?

Speaking of virgin shells a daft question, how many of the solid shells are actually virgin or are they a high percentage of regrind? Polycarbs I should imagine are a higher percentage of virgin material otherwise you wouldnt have the clarity on them

  7. One thing to bear in mind when deciding on chassis is clearance for the ground you want to be on. When you chance the ride height on the TT as per the manual your left with the bottom screw protruding so only realistically have the tyre height as ground clearance

The hop up alloy servo horn is designed to work with the hop-up high torque servo saver, which does indeed centre more reliably than the stock item. However it does so whether used with the alloy horn or the hard plastic one that it comes with. The alloy one looks prettier but is functionally no different in my experience.

I find it neatest to shorten the motor cables and omit the connectors, soldering them straight to the motor. The ESC and servo wires can be neatly bundled and hidden in broad heatshrink. The battery cable can be kept from flapping about with double sided Velcro.

Thanking you. The Battery one in the main concern cos it looks like it has the potential to rub as it crosses the driveshaft

  9. Got it sorted out. It was the rear I'd put in the wrong way round. Built the rest up and run it a few times up and down the drive. Not a bad chassis but a couple of questions, does the hop up ally servo horn center up better than the stock plastic ones? And what's the best way to run the leads round the chassis to tidy them up? I've the servo and esc leads stuffed under the on off switch at the moment but no clue what to do with the battery and motor cables.

Oh and the Cc tyres aren't staying, just the first ones I grabbed for now although a Bowler basher may be an idea

  10. Well the problem is more with the moron who fitted the diffs

Got my TT02 chassis up to rolling level tonight and did a quick rig up to test everything ran only to discover when motor put into drive the rear wheels go forwards and the fronts go in reverse and the opposite when the motors in reverse. Without stripping it back down to look is it likely I've put the front diff in backwards?

You are perfectly free to laugh if wish

  11. Had a quick mess with the chassis tonight got it up to more or less rolling. Just set to standard for now but ally shaft and bearings will definitely be ordered on payday. Didn't take long to be fair. One ever so slight mishap with the car to sort out and a couple of interruptions from my little assistant but it'll be a decent chassis when it's done

L&L sell lots yeah - I got my controlfreaks metro 6R4 from them (average quality and poor decals) and the Volvo 850 estate BTCC which seems better ;)

ive had a Kamtec shell for the falcon and a TBG shell for the terrascorcher and both are good quality

    JJ

Just had a look at that site. Looks to be some good stuff and going off your comments on the 6R4 looks like they stay fairly true to the real thing :D

  13. Been to work, was given three "emergency" jobs, 2 of which didnt even have the decency to be in changed akitchen waste trap and back home again to wait for any other jobs. So currently sat with one eye on my phone and one eye on the street awaiting to see if Mr UPS man is going to bring me something nice

ABC Hobby make some really nice stuff

MST make a limited range, but detail is up there with Tamiya, priced quite high

Killerbody stuff is nice, lots of them are 'pre-finished' however

Problem you'll have with the above is that many aren't stocked in any great quantity in the UK, so it'll be a long wait for post from the Far East.

Cheers I`ll have a hunt for some of them.

Do you mean UK manufactured or just sold through a distributor in the uk?

Also, what type of body? Buggy, touring car, m size etc

Just bodies in general for now. Never really been into box art and would rather do some sort of scaler of road going or off roader but would like to do something fun and buggy based in the future. Last one I did was a Kamtec vw bug shell on a Stadium Raider chassis but would prefer something with more detail than the basic shell

  16. Morning all. Having a flick round the usual suspects, Modelsport, Timetunnel etc and can`t see anything that takes my imagination so was wondering who else makes bodies? Apart from Kamtec I don`t know of any "independents". Do any of you know of any? UK based preferably. Cheers

Can confirm - have explored most of it on-foot during lockdown too, bits I'd never even seen before right on my doorstep!!

The TT02 is now packed and posted and on its' way to @Wetman, says next-day delivery but who knows when it will actually arrive given the current circumstances!

Driver figure posted off to @TurnipJF yesterday.

    Thanks all!

    Brilliant thanks Chris
