Thanks for the advice, will take the motor off tomorrow and check the pinion. Will try and get some photos to help with the diagnosis.

Yes, I turned them both together, previously when I spun one wheel the other turned as well but in the opposite direction. Now they both spin independently. It doesn't appear that they are connected to the motor as they spin freely which they didn't before.

The motor is just the standard one that I got with the Lunchbox, the controller is a Absima SR25

Now that I have checked the rear wheels appear to spin independently and dont now appear to be attached to the motor. Am guessing I need to take it apart again! Thanks for the tip.

Newbie here, I have recently built a Lunchbox, managed to link the transmitter to the servo and motor and all was working apart from it making an awful noise when in reverse. I disconnected the motor and took the gearbox apart to check that I had done everything correctly. I have now rebuilt it and the steering still works but when I try to get it to move the motor just beeps. There is a green light on the esc that comes on whenever I use the transmitter so it is receiving the signal but I am at a loss as to why it wont move anymore. Can anyone offer any suggestions as to what I have done wrong and what I can do now, many thanks all.

Managed to get it sorted, not sure what was wrong but taking gearbox apart and putting it back together did the trick. Many thanks for the advice.
