  1. Has anyone got a remedy for keeping dog bone pins in? Is it simply putting a little super glue on the pin before placing in? I took one of my kits out this morning only to have two pins fly out, a 3rd is poking half out.
  2. So I received the esc and 3300kv combo and I have to say I’m over the moon with it, even on NiMH. It’s transformed the vehicle! Great amount of power to the wheels instantly, so much so that I can park it on a ramp and pop off the top without the small run up. A lot of fun compared to the Sport Tuned motor, might post a video on the YouTubed thread, but sure you’ve seen it all before though 😂
  3. That looks awesome, so good i’d Like it for myself 😂
  4. M3 titanium washers, please somebody help me. I need to stop looking for titanium parts 😅...
  5. Hi all, As the title says, I’m trying to find a small stick transmitter with a receiver that’s in a case and not just wires and guts like what’s on Amazon. I have tried and tried to get my daughter used to a mini wheel transmitter which fits perfectly in her hands, but she now wants to take an old RC to the park because of the transmitter. Any recommendations would be great.
  6. Thanks for that, my heart has been in my mouth, scrambling around trying to find the details on the motor, looks like I was in luck! ‘3652SL = 36 is the diameter of the motor 52 the length in mm. SL = Sensorless. Making the above std 540 size with std 1/10th" shaft.’ This is it; https://www.modelsport.co.uk/index.php?product_id=420922
  7. Thanks for that, there’s a lot a great areas in my understanding this hobby. I think Futaba’s most basic transmitter has an EPA, will look now. Thanks!
  8. Hi all, Hoping someone can help me, due to low stock with suppliers I decided to get what I think is a better esc and motor than what I initially wanted. I’ve gone ahead and ordered a Hobbywing Max10 and 3300KV motor combo with deans connectors hoping in the very near future to purchase my first 2s lipo battery, sticking with NiMH for now. I’m thinking of a new transmitter and looking at Futaba FHSS as I like the responsiveness, but really detest the big screen on the front and want something a little more basic. You may all laugh, but again it’s going in a GF-01, everything updated and I’m shimming this one also, with ceramic bearings etc. I have looked on previous threads on here and people have stated that a 3300KV motor is ok for a 4WD with lots of gears to move. I obviously do not want to wreck anything, does anyone know if there’s a transmitter that I can limit the motors top end on? I see I can limit the ‘punch’ via esc settings. Is what I’m proposing what others have done before? I’m I going through a long process only to rip out the guts of my Tamiya? Thanks for any information and advice you have in advance. Cheers, Al
  9. There was a GF01 SJ30 Jimny that you can’t hold of for love or money and there’s also been two chassis variants that are using it GF-01CB & GF-01TR. TR ‘Trail’ has some portal axle that give extra ground clearance and also gear reduction, it might help off-road on obstacles like bigger twigs and small rocks. Currently a Monster Beetle body, looks great but expensive. CB ‘comical buggy’ is the latest version, it’s a 4WD buggy – Avante comical reincarnation. There’s also the 6WD G6-01, plus the bodies from the WR-02 work nicely on it too – Wild Willy 2 and VW camper.
  10. Most definitely not an expert here, my experience of this hobby is that things do break, having some spares is always good especially when nowadays we’re buying things on the internet and waiting a couple of weeks for things to turn up. I decided to go with the GF-01 platform after a long time being away from anything RC this is why; 01 – A modern chassis design. 02 – 4WD, having all 4 wheels gripping and pulling I feel is worlds apart from my previous models (WR-02, Clod Buster & King Cab) 03 – A large pool of parts and bodies shared with other versions of the kit. (Toyota Land Cruiser, Dump Truck, bodies and parts from the WR-02 kits). That being said, another option is to go for a used kit, someone has put it together and is selling it with a transmitter and battery ready for you to run, there’s a 2nd hand Lunchbox with a transmitter and battery going for £150 at the moment, all that’s needed is a charger.
  11. Doozers from Fraggle Rock. If you want to hear their march song and see the cars in action look no further;
  12. If it’s any help, I’ve purchased a new kit before and it’s had the teu-105bk instead of a tble-02s esc. I presumed that Tamiya send a bunch of kits to sellers with speed controllers, and the sellers decide to sell them with or without the speed controllers. I got unlucky and got old stock, I could be completely wrong.
  13. Hi Cyilmaz, I found this discussion from a few years ago;
  14. I’m unsure as Tamiya haven’t got a Ti set for me, these are made of grade 2 Ti so not full strength and I prefer machine thread to self tapping. My kit has a ton of M3 10mm so I’ve gone onto AliExpress and found the lengths I need. Got a new hex driver to with them and will use a little ceramic grease, not taking any chances.
  15. M3 Ti hex screws for the ultimate one I’m building up, I do like the look of titanium. Excessive, but what can I say – I’m bored over here! 😅
  16. Perhaps I’ll give re-peaking a miss from now on then, having what I feel is a pretty decent charger might be lulling me into a false sense of security.
  17. I’ve bought this Overlander D100v2 charger, as the last one had a winding mechanism on the front. I have x3 4000mAh and it tells you to input 4A, I’m charging them at 3.5A, discharging them every time and even re-peaked two of them, heat wise the one that concerns me is re-peaking, they get soooo hot, I’m standing right next to them waiting for something to go bang hot. I was presuming this charger was sophisticated enough not to wreck the batteries if everything was input correctly, is this right?
  18. The ‘Heavy Metal’ version of the GF01 dump truck, I’ve been interested in getting this kit for a while because of the chrome plated chassis. Next kit I buy will be a G6-01, most likely the truck.
  19. Seeing these things on the internet go to the skateparks do huge jumps and tumble whichever way doesn’t appeal to me, the proportions look wrong, it’s all wheels and a makeshift lid with tiny windows, it’s not even about the car or any realism. Overall for me is that there’s no character to the vehicle. I cannot take something like that to the park, weave it back and forth with other families around, I’m definitely more casual than hardcore.
  20. Saw it, bought it! Pleasantly surprised you stock the TFU-01 fan kit for the stock Tamiya ESC
  21. We can only hope there’s a tunnel big enough to get through to the lounge sitting on it.
  22. At the moment I’m building up various kits for different reasons; • The ultimate one, all the hop-ups bells and whistles • The everyday runner, nice bearings and sport tuned motor. • The daughter special, nice bearings for decent runtimes and a 85t motor reducing speed and allowing a bit more go anywhere feel • Something lodged deep in my young mind of 4-5 was amphibious vehicles, so putting together a mad testbed that would be able to drive on the beach and also take a paddle in the sea, a little like a Schwimmwagen would be a dream, so getting marine grease and external silicone ready for something a little different in the future. Driving family mad with bits and bobs everywhere, I feel like I’ve found a safe place in these uncertain times and it keeps me busy, skills are certainly improving I feel, never smelt so much thinners! 🤯
  23. There are different types of collectors I’m presuming, one kind that collect a very specific type of kit and others that want a large variety of kits. Being a child in the 80’s, having a King Cab with limited spares and budget made me decide to only collect a very specific type of kit, it’s reassuring to me that I have spares and can keep them going if I stick to the WR-02 / GF-01 platform, a modern kit with lots of spares and parts. What sort of collector are you and why?
  24. Bought another GF-01 kit, I feel like I have a slight problem now and sort of like a pigeon fancier but for this range of Tamiya models…
  25. Another one interested in Brighton, I’m limiting myself to the GF-01 platform, so it’s just a bit of fun, looking at Shoreham after we see what happens with the current situation. Just sticking to parks and the beach at the moment, still lots of fun!
