Reversing.
It could be that you’re not double tapping reverse, when going forward you can break by pressing reverse, you then release and press reverse again to actually reverse.

Well I’m the end I’ve gone with some on sale walkie talkies, you can switch off the ‘Roger beep calling’ function which is nice and there’s also 3 in the pack, they look quite small so I might be able to strap one to the chassis without any trouble.

I’ve been looking for some time for a sound simulator that makes just a friendly horn beeping sound, think a double beep Herbie horn sound effect, or even Road Runner. Has anyone come across anything without 10 different engine sounds?
Or even something that you can play your own sound effects on?
Another question, with social distancing meaning nothing to some children, including my own sometimes when she forgets, has anyone ever added and speaker with a mic the transmitter end? She runs off across the park and I want to tell her not to go any further or come back, I can’t see a simple solution other than frantic shouting and moving my arms around…

The whole lot is expensive and they’ve got me wanting more! Tamiya reignited my interest with the WR-02 camper, I love box art and it was the first one I bought since a King Cab. Then they cleverly released the 4WD version and that was it I had to buy a few more kits, they’ve sat in boxes until now. I think I’m going to stick with the GF-01 chassis as I’ve got 3 kits with spares.

Looks great! It’s funny because at the moment I’m looking to do the complete opposite to you, I’m thinking of super long arms and shock towers larger than YR hop ups and 70 / 80mm shocks. Ideally up on stilts with as much ground clearance as possible compromising stability a tiny amount.

Just finished the one that’s going to be mine and my daughters daily runner, might be adding flowers and peace signs galore…
Paint job will do, don’t particularly like the wheels but they’ll do and made the awful mistake of cutting the sides from the WR-02 to fit the GF-01, you live and learn.

Just a quick update, with the wheels on there’s enough resistance in the rear diff to move both wheels in the same direction, I’m able to hold a wheel and the other wheel is able to move independently. Very smooth action also, so currently feel it’s a success.
It can get very messy though, AW grease and silicone earbuds do not mix, when silicone gets grease on it it does not adhere to other silicone pieces like it once did, so try and be clean as possible with the AW, the metal part with the three gears AW those, where that part sits in the plastic gear, AW those bits and the washers to gear parts.
Order I’ve done it in is;
Washer, gear, coin of silicone, place three gears in, three marbles of silicone between the gears, another coin of silicone, gear and washer.
Hope this helps anyone, might take a few tries to get it working and do not know how long it will last, keep you updated.

Just to let you know, I didn’t feel resistance until I packed enough silicone to push AW grease out of the way, I’m turning it round now which I need to carry on doing until it stops coming out of the sides. Really need a dogbone attached to a drill.

AW plus silicone earbud for the rear, and might try nickel based anti-seize / AW grease mix on the front. Tamiya are using a tackifier in the AW grease and I think that’s mostly to add resistance not to stick onto components because it’s a sealed unit once it’s screwed up.
Im looking for the rear wheels to move the same direction when lifted off the ground and the front wheels to be a little stiffer than before.

I’m donating the parts from a WR-02 and making up another GF-01, didn’t want to lock up the diff completely as I doesn’t sit right with me. When opening up my previous efforts on the WR-02 diff I just added AW grease, it wasn’t enough I feel. AW grease and packed silicone earbud is giving it a nice smooth stiff feel.

Yep, seen it and really want to give it a try. It’s just the amount of time it takes for delivery at the moment.

I’m just wondering if anyone has delved into using silicone earbuds as resistance in the rear differential of these kits?
I’m currently packing the rear diff with AW grease on metal to metal contact and being quite generous and then have packed the remaining space with silicone earbuds, squashed it all up and it’s giving a nice amount of resistance, can only turn with screwdrivers... I’m going to keep turning to get some gumpf out.

After almost 30 years of not going near a decent RC car I bought 3 NiMH 4000aAh and a new charger that also did lipo just in case I wanted to change in the future. You know 3 batteries, that should last me and my daughter and few runs up and down the park… I’m literally spending most of the day trying discharge the batteries, they last so long!
I remember discharging batteries with a wired up lightbulb!

Have you guys tried oven cleaner on anodised parts? I’m wanting to go down the polished aluminium route, getting away from the blue but not too sure if the process of un-anodising compromises structural integrity on such small parts…

I’m spending most of my evening endlessly polishing scratches out of chassis plastic for the next GF-01 I’m putting together, there’s quite a difference between between straight out the bag and closing in on being polished…

Hi there,
New member here, just wanted to reach out and say hi, collected a few parts over 5 years thinking I might get round to putting things together when I have some time… I now have some time!
Anyway this is where I’m up to with this build, I’m addicted to the dimensions of these cute little trucks!
