  1. Thanks for responses, i'm running the standard gearing on the blitzer, it can take a 2 tooth larger pinion which if i've understood right would make a difference to the top speed. Motor is never hot! I bought what i thought was the right 15 tooth pinion but when it came the gap between the teeth was way too narrow. I think this is the right one - https://www.modelsport.co.uk/tamiya-rm-15t-pinion-gear-58256/rc-car-products/391028 I must confess though it is quite a bit faster than the stock can already. To my embarrassment when i originally tested it was on wet grass - at dusk. Once it dried up the performance improved dramatically, pulling monster wheelies (something else to content with) on part throttle.
  2. I've got a volvo 850 which i think is ff01. Its a runner but is on vintage radio and stock motor
  3. yeah the calibration on the ESC / transmitter did that. Docs say it will run with whatever is present. I'll have another read and see if there is anything else to dowith it Maybe i was just being too optimistic on a 17.5, perhaps a 13.5 would have been a better bet. I'm at the point where i need to extend the power cables and didnt want to get on with it if i was going to have a returns situation with the LHS. Although i've soldered the posts to the power and the motor mounts so it might be too late anyways...
  4. just seems weird that RPM doesnt increase over two thirds throttle. Even the stock motor spins up on the final third of throttle, wondering if the motor ,and or, the ESC has a fault
  5. Hi, i was wanting to make my blitzer perform a little better than stock. I've installed a HobbyWing xr10 ESC, Speed Passion 17.5T sensored brushless motor and a 2s lipo battery. It all seems to work except the performance doesnt seem much better than stock motor, tble2 and nimh. The motor seems to increase RPM up to about 2/3 throttle but doesnt improve from there. It's like the last third of the throttle doesnt do anything. It seems to 'hiccup' and then just carry on at the same rpm for the final third. I've tried calibrating the ESC but it hasnt made a difference. I'm new to brushless, sensored and lipo - any help/thoughts appreciated. I Don't want to go back to my LHS and find out its something obvious i should have known all along
  6. cheers, bit of food for thought for me.
  7. Hi, i've been running the blitzer for a couple of months now. It's fully ball raced but otherwise stock. The car itself is quite bouncy on the move, what suspension upgrades would you recommend? I've got a 17.5T brushless motor and ESC combo for it, along with 2s lipo's. Wanted it a little faster but not crazy. Anything else you would recommend? Scott
  8. Hi, i'm new to the forum so thought i'd join in with the what i've done today crew. I'm on the lookout for some tl-01 bits to restore my alfa 156 touring car. Spent alot of time searching ebay/google Ordered a new transmitter / receiver for the car tl Cleaned the body shell on the alfa and my volvo 850 Ordered a new spur gear for my schumacher K1. hope thats allowed on a tamiya site Spent many hours on ebay looking at wheels and tyres for the TL01 to make it a bit more usefull on the grass. Still to do: fit the brushless motor/esc combo to my blitzer beetle i got a couple of weeks ago thats all from me Scott
  9. It would be great if either of you had these parts for sale. I'm a prop shaft short of a car lol
  10. Hi, i'm in the UK. If either of you have these and would sell that would be amazing. Scott
  11. Hi, Converted my tl01 to rear wheel drive a couple of years ago and i'm trying to put it back to 4wd but i've lost the prop shaft and bevelled gears that transfer the gearbox down the shaft. Does anyone have a tl01 prop shaft and the bevelled gears for sale? cheers
