  1. Thank you! I used PJ as well. Also Tamiya USA…they have the double slipper and the motor mount in stock, and some other DB01 goodies as well.
  2. That's a stunning pair @Juhunio. Great work!!
  3. These are RS3's but I thought they looked pretty cool...if you want to go with a racing theme this time around.
  4. Tamiya USA has the double slipper, on sale too. They have some other DB01 parts as well (big thanks to @Finnsllc for steering me there). Plaza Japan was another good source and they have the Baldre shell.
  5. Parts trickled in over the last few months, Durga just arrived. Am I noticing a Durga resurgence here lately, @Kol__ @Jonathon Gillham @Mechanic AH ?? 😉
  6. Here’s the Bigfoot body on a Stampede with Tamiya Copper. I think it came out OK. This was the first body I did after a long hiatus from R/C. Someone with more patience and skill could have made it even better!
  7. I did a Bigfoot body a few years ago, in copper. Will try to find a pic. These are a few trucks that gave me inspiration. I prefer a blacked-out or color match look for the grills, but that’s just me. Good luck!
  8. @silvertriple Enjoy your Fantom! I had a blast driving mine for the first time (on some local tennis courts). I shared the same concern with the chain dragging on the radio plate. The pic below shows some wear on the plate and rubber grommet; this is after only 5 minutes of running. I think a chain guide is a great idea.
  9. I love seeing unique body shells. Here’s some inspiration. The black & gold is pretty sharp…
  10. Thank you! It's a very unique build. The linkage design for steering & rider lean is one of the coolest things I've seen in R/C. Would be great to see this bike get the @Willy iine treatment! Thank you @Juhunio, big fan of your work as well! I expected the small parts to be the biggest challenge in this kit, but in actuality, it was the sequencing that I found most difficult. The manual takes you through the entire build with no mention of paint or decals until the very end. As I soon found out, it was much easier to paint most parts before final assembly (see below). And I probably should have done some of the decals earlier too. Live and learn!
  11. Just about finished with decals on the Kyosho bike.
  12. Great stuff @wolfdogstinkus. As a father to a 12 & 9 year old myself, this really hits home. I love that you made it educational, but still kept it interesting with those great sketches.
  13. Building up the courage for these decals…
  14. You can get a DF03 Dark Impact for under $140 US from a Far East supplier, but shipping costs may be a dealbreaker. I’ve heard a lot of positive things about that chassis.
  15. I have the Fantom EP and I will probably get this one too. These cars are a lot of fun, even if you don’t race. All you need is access to a tennis court!
  16. And just to reinforce this idea...my 6th grader has a technology class in school, where they introduce engineering and scientific principles. They had a recent assignment to design & build a roller coaster. Long story short, he was the only kid in class to actually build a model coaster...the rest of the teams opted to "build" their coasters using computer programs like Minecraft. I'm fully convinced that his exposure to R/C modeling gave him the confidence to physically make something from scratch. It was a "proud dad" moment to say the least! Looking at the big picture, I worry that our youth in general are losing the skills to work with their hands, opting for digital solutions instead. This will catch up with all of us eventually...it's probably happening already.
  17. Cool piece of history there, thanks for sharing.
  18. An RC10 tribute...love it!
  19. I’ve found that a magnetized flat-head screwdriver is great for placing the clips in the shaft slot, before clamping down. Especially in hard to reach areas, like the pins for suspension arms.
  20. What is your plan for paint @BuggyGuy? I have a DN01 Zahhak waiting for paint and I'm looking for some inspiration!
  21. I run my cars very rarely so today was a special treat. Got a chance to test out my M-08 Dino and my Kyosho Fantom 956. The M-08 is easily the smoothest car I’ve ever driven. Very easy to control and loads of fun. I’m using a Sport-Tuned and it felt like a well-matched motor for this car. As for the Fantom…wow. First time driving a foam-tired pan car. The handling is just remarkable…so planted. I’m running a LeMans 240S motor and it was great. I had some reservations about the chain drive but I had no issues. The Kyosho manual is vague about the amount of chain slack, but I must have gotten it right. The chain also rubs along the top deck, which still seems odd to me, but apparently is the intended design. Highly recommend the Fantom for people looking to try something different, and based on my 956, it seems the Tamiya RM-01 bodies are a good fit.
  22. Finishing up my FF-03R build. Body will be a MonTech GTI Vision. Trying to decide on a paint scheme.
