Here is my M-08 Concept with Team C Ferrari Dino shell. As I'm sure most of you can relate, this project became more intense than expected! The body is a 225mm wheelbase, but the width at the rear wheels is about 180mm. I quickly realized the standard M-08 track width was too narrow. Research here led me to Tamiya 50808 Rear Wheel Axles for the TG-10 Chassis, which seemed like a perfect "drop-in" solution. And they were...for the front wheels. Having built my M-08 over a year ago, I had forgotten that the rear had CVD joints. So I grabbed some dogbones from a XV-01, and I was back in business. I should note that the XV-01 dogbones in the M-08 have much less slop than what I've typically seen, so not sure if this could lead to binding (or worse!) when cornering. I also used 10mm hex hubs to get the width just right. This is my 2nd Team C shell (first was an Apple 935). The Dino IMO is much more realistic than the Porsche. Side and front window trim, pinstripe, and bumpers are done with paint, using Tamiya flexible line tape. It's not perfect, but there were no window decals with this body, so that set my course. Lucky Strike decals are courtesy of MCI, who have always done a great job for me. Kyosho line tape for the body panels.

FWIW, I’m new to soldering and I’ve had good success with XT60s.

If rollovers are a possibility, I would definitely try to reinforce that joint where the A-pillar meets the frame. I had this happen on a Lunchbox, and my epoxy repair (without reinforcement) failed again. My son was driving, I swear!!

I love this Kyosho series. Been trying for years to get one, but always seem to get outbid (US Ebay). Seems like the Skyline and the Ferrari's are the most rare. I see the MGB most often, followed by the Cobra. A GT40 (body only) just sold for $142 USD! Good luck in your search!

I will definitely try @Juhunio Honestly, the standard of build threads here is so high...it's a little intimidating!

Beautiful car @wtcc5. On an impulse I just bought an FF-03R NIB kit, with the gear diff. The FF chassis is completely new to me so I'm looking forward to reading your thread!

Here's another really good thread about the Kyosho bikes. Helped me quite a bit while building my NSR500. https://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?1700506-Kyosho-1-8-MK1-HOR-Bible/page44

Here are a few more pics for scale. I felt like most of the pieces were comparable to the smaller parts on a Tamiya. One notable exception, as you can see, is that the motor is significantly smaller than a 540. There’s also very little room for wiring, so you have to be careful with choice of ESC and receiver. I expect the most challenging part of this build will be paint and decals. Most people seem to paint before final assembly of the outer pieces and rider, and I plan to do the same.

My 2 ongoing builds. Highly recommend the Kyosho bike if you want to try something a little different. And this pic made me wonder...is box art drawn to scale??

Great work on those carbon fiber parts. Didn’t even know that was possible!

Me too! Hoping I can find the time to start this one soon. @mr crispy did a build thread back in 2014 if you’re interested: This was the video that sold me:

I finally caved and picked up one of the these over the holidays. The rider movement is one of the coolest things I’ve seen in RC.

I love seeing alternate color schemes. Nice job @lowspot

Thanks for the tip @OoALEJOoO. I will give that a try.

Wanted to share my experience with the Team C bodies. I have the Apple Porsche 935, Ferrari Dino, and BMW 2002. I'll start with the 935. First thing I noticed was the lack of detail around the rear end. Also seems like the wing was an afterthought, and I'm afraid it looks nothing like the actual Apple 935 (wing not yet attached): 2nd issue I had was after cutting out the body, the wheel arches flared out: Finally, I've noticed that the decals are not Tamiya or MCI quality, and are peeling in several areas (you can see the white gap on the nose...it would be continuous rainbow if not for the peeling): At this point I'm debating whether or not to even finish the 935, with the lack of detail and the issues mentioned above. On the bright side, the Dino looks to have much better detail. And I might skip the decals entirely and do a custom look like the Camel car below:

Awesome job on the body @lowspot. I’m typically a “non box art” guy, but the Fantom just looks amazing as Kyosho envisioned it.
-
Thank you @lowspot. I drew inspiration from the Optima below. The green actually looks pretty good with the gold IMO… @silvertriple What are you doing about the windows? Strangely, those decals are solid gray instead of clear, which is odd because the kit includes a driver!

Looks good @silvertriple. I’m excited to see another non box-art Optima. Here’s mine just in case you’re still looking for inspiration. In hindsight I wish I had used a little more gold paint, but pretty happy overall.
