  1. My head is still spinning from all the TRF damper options. Hopefully I picked the right ones...for a TB02 and M08.
  2. Good advice. I’m relatively new to LiPo as well. I was curious if you need to “repeat” the storage charge if you don’t use the battery for several months? I assume it drains a little bit even when not in use?
  3. To make matters worse he rang the doorbell! Complete violation of Tamiya bro-code. Gotta have a talk with him 😉
  4. Mr. Postman was kind to me today. These are my first M-chassis’ and I thought it would be fun to compare FWD and RWD. The M08 was ordered a month ago, the M07R a few days ago. Ironically they showed up on the same day!
  5. Ah the hex head bolt! Makes perfect sense now. Thanks guys. One of the things I love about this hobby are the engineering details in these cars.
  6. Noticed something curious with the front dogbones. Why does the right front get 2 urethane bushings (MB24 red and MB23 white), while the left calls for MB23 white only? Is this a mistake in the manual? The diff outputs seem to be symmetrical. What am I missing here?
  7. Looks good @Juhunio. I ordered the same dampers for my build. Trying to control myself from further upgrades, but the blue Candy just looks so good! That’s surprising about the servo. Is the prop shaft aftermarket? Possibly thicker than stock?
  8. That is awesome. How did you get that level of detail in the pinstriping and lettering? Are those decals or paint? Great job!
  9. The 10 year old wanted a USA theme. The 8 year old wanted a Nike sneaker. They were happy just to use spray paint!
  10. Great info there @studioRS. Thank you! I want to make sure I understand this part correctly: “Do you just tighten the screw them until it stops, or do you tighten them JUST enough so they barely slip? Ease the screw in bit by bit, with each few turns test the diff until it's just enough to be HARD to slip with a decent amount of force, but not fully locked. After this, you should still be able to freely rotate the diff halves without much effort. Usually people make the rear diff a bit looser than the front diff.” When you speak of “testing the diff”, are you holding one outdrive and the gear? I assume yes, since the next statement in your notes refers to the “diff halves”, where I assume you are holding the diff outdrives, and not the gear? Sorry if I’m overanalyzing... Also, brilliant idea using the drill and half-dogbone!
  11. Started on my TB02 last night. First time building a ball diff...wow. Didn’t realize the balls have to be pressed into the gear, but luckily caught it before I tightened it up. The age old question...how much to tighten? Do you hold the diff outdrives and go by feel? Or do you hold one outdrive and the diff gear and try to spin? I realize there’s a break in period and re-adjustment may be necessary. Just trying to get a good starting point for an occasional runner. Thanks guys!
  12. A BMW 2002 body from Team C. Anyone have any experience with this particular body or this company? Not loving the 2 piece rear end, but thought the price was too good to pass up.
  13. That's actually a Henny Youngman line, who rather fittingly was born in...wait for it...London!
  14. I actually just finished building Porsche GT1 street kit. One thing to consider is that the body post holes were pre-drilled. I can check the width at the front and rear wheels, if that would help you? Let me know if you need any other measurements. The long wheelbase M-chassis bodies are 239mm. Maybe those could work?
  15. Bumping for updates. Anyone who’s upgraded their M-chassis dampers please share your experiences and specify which kit you used. Also wondering if anyone has upgraded the M-08 dampers?
  16. Great info @Juhunio. Thanks a lot!
  17. I would consider a set of front universals. My son’s TT02 has had the dogbones fly out a few times, and they can be tough to find in a large parking lot!
  18. Watching with interest @Juhunio! I actually picked up a TB02 a few weeks ago (Kit 58317 Mercedes CLK). I was wondering about your choice of upgrades. Any that you consider “must-have” for the casual runner? Have you found TB02 parts difficult to source, or is there some compatibility with later TB versions? Thanks!
  19. This thread was giving me serious FOMO, so I took the plunge with an M-08 as my initiation into the M-Club. Anyone have experience with hop-ups 54982 or 54983? These are carbon reinforced parts, including the C-hubs which some have mentioned as a weak point. Also wondering if there’s a sweet spot for the wheelbase, so I can start looking for shells. Thanks in advance!
  20. Looks great @dannymulder. Is that one of the Tamiya greens, and did you use a backing color? Thanks
  21. Absolutely perfect @SupraChrgd82. I love the surf theme...and what a paint job!
  22. Currently building Manta Rays with my 2 boys, and this gives me hope for making that shell look good. Nice job!!
  23. Nice. Like you I also have a Turbo Optima waiting to be built. Are you going box art or custom?
  24. As someone who enjoys building even more than running, this post rings especially true for me. I've come to realize that just the mere IDEA of building kits brings me enjoyment, as evidenced by my ever-growing stockpile of Tamiya goodness...that I have no time to build! And your line about it "not being work" struck a chord with me. I find kit-building to be relaxing and even somewhat cathartic; it's an opportunity to work with my hands that my day job does not allow. The payoff of a completed project is nice, but the road that takes me there is what I enjoy most about this hobby.
