Not nearly that large a course but I have a narrow concrete drive way that opens into a wider 2 car pad and that runs right into the back garden. The offroad portion would be mostly trimmed clover, though.

When I built my GS06 I made sure my bearings arrived before I started that kit. No way I was going to year that apart more than I had to

I took the Clod out for a post bearing install shake down run. A few minutes in I noticed the rear end shifting under power and a tell tale clunk sound that reminded me of the Hornet / Cw01 axle slap. I thought “did I actually break one of the b11 anti rotation brackets ? “ Turns out nope , I just failed to tighten the screw all the way when I reinstalled it. Luckily, I had a spare correct screw on hand. I also discovered I had a small tube of Tamiya white grease, and now I regret not applying a little more when I had it apart. ( I really don’t feel like tearing the truck apart again ).

Twin engine 4WD ? You might have to find this body for it .

Bearings for my. Clod arrived in the mail after work . I started taking the axles off to start tear down/ bearing replacement. Then wife got home from work and I had to start dinner , now I have a half apart clod on the bench.

If I had a nickel for every Used RC or 1:1 motorcycle I’ve encountered where someone previous force a self tapper in or ( as I am in the U.S. ) bodged the nearest sized SAE fastener in place of the correct metric one, I would have at least several nickels.

I finally got a Clod .

Anybody have any experience with Traxxas Titan 12t 550 in a clod ? I believe they are zero timing. And I know they are pretty torquey and quick. For that matter, 550 motors in general. I tried to fit on in a G601 once but I had to seriously limit the EPA on the steering to make the front wheels not hit the motor -

That’s a gorgeous looking restoration. I really like the look of those Early Traxxas models.

Help, Oops. Remove paint from Frog Body
Dakratfink replied to broomhandle's topic in Re-Release Discussions
A couple of years ago I bought a used Tt02 Skyline GTR that the previous owner had painted with non polycarbonate paint that was flaking and chipping everywhere. I tried to use regular acetone to strip that shell and it destroyed it. After that I wished I had tried the Tamiya body cleaner -

So, for anti rotation brackets they seem like a simple enough part. Do people usually prefer cheap eBay/ Amazon Chinese ones , Home made ? 3D printed ? UK Monsters of CPE? Or is a bracket a bracket a bracket ? I see CPE has a combo where they bundle brackets , bearing set and a chassis brace in one kit. -
Packing models for a cross-country move - an idea
Dakratfink replied to markbt73's topic in General discussions
When I moved I took wheels off, set the wheels on side with chassis on top of them and filled the rest of the box with packing paper. -
It sounds like the “weak” trans (on ORV chassis ) is really only an issue if you overpower it though ? Or is bracing it a must ? The SV in that RC Driver vid was all over the place. I have oil dampers on my G6 King yellow on the corners only and pogo friction shocks on the center axle. It’s a little bouncy but planted and goes where I point it. Also, my Kumamon tractor on the WW2 chassis seems to handle fine on friction shocks. I guess the SV chassis needs oil dampers to settle down. Side note , I think the SV would benefit from GF01/G601 wheels and balloon chevron tires. I also think it would look good with box art decals but patina paint

I agree those are pricey. I see no need for the Yokomo since I still have my YZ-10. The Mid carries a little nostalgia since it was “my” first hobby grade RC . I mean officially it was Dad’s but he quickly lost the knack for driving and made himself the Owner and Crew Chief and made me his driver ( I think that was his way of rationalizing buying the kid a several hundred 1980s dollar rig to my mom )

Note to Mods I intended to title the thread One(s) that got away , but clicked before I was ready

Ever come across that sweet appearing deal that “you can’t pass up”, but you somehow passed up anyway? Whether is was an auction you got swiped on, a clearance you passed over at a LHS, an online deal you hesitated too long or other circumstances, what RCs have you regretted NOT buying ? There was an original XR311 at local resale shop ( no radio TX but I think it had vintage servos installed ) for $40USD later marked down as low as $30 . I let it go because I knew I didn’t want to mess with the torsion bars, and would have wanted to make it functional ( even if it would have mostly been on display duty I wanted to be able to drive if I wanted to ). The next time I changed my mind and went back to the shop it was gone . That ship sailed . Also, just yesterday there was a Cross RC crawler kit in a charity auction that sold for $76USD for an un assembled kit. The only reason I missed that one is I didn’t keep an eye on the auction closely enough. So, what are your RC “ones that got away “?

This old chestnut! Sport Tuned Motors - advanced timing or not.

This old chestnut! Sport Tuned Motors - advanced timing or not.
Dakratfink replied to mtbkym01's topic in General discussions
So this old thread was mostly about testing the various ST motors, and a great read overall. My wonder ; What about the current Torque tuned? Tamiya website ( and other sources ) claim it’s a 25T. Anyone dissected or tested to see if these are truly 25T and zero timing ? I’m also interested in running them In a Clod like the OP was with the Sport Tuned . -
When I wanted to take my Yokomo YZ10 out of mothballs I cut apart a Nihm Stick pack and re-soldered it into saddle configuration,. It’s A “working “ shelf queen and I wanted to just be able to move it under its own power. If I ever want to use it more extensively I will look for a Lipo option that fits the chassis. With the recent re issue of the 870 Dogfighter I’m sure there are Lipo battery trays for that chassis on the market now.

Mini Cooper - Should I restore this Monte Carlo?
Dakratfink replied to Gravyhead's topic in Vintage Tamiya Discussion
I don’t want to hijack this thread , but I assume the Monte Carlo Cooper is on the M01 chassis. I also have an M01 Mini I got on eBay I’m looking to restore. The top of the front bulkhead where the body mount attaches is broken off. I assume getting a whole bulkhead would be pricey. Does anyone have any suggestions to repair it ? ( I can post some pics of the break ) -
I keep finding low ish cost ORVs on eBay, but when I think about foxing the transmission and sourcing a body I wonder hiwncheap it will really be.
