Yes you read the title correct I am restoring my original Nissan Skyline GTR Nismo TA-02 car..... So far I have replaced the electronics on it, with a tamiya ESC with a XT60 conn, Sport tuned motor & Spektrum SR315 receiver..... I then found a full skyline body kit similar to the original from Killerbody last year... I since put that body together and got a full light kit for it as well... I will put some pictures of it in the thread... It has tons of upgrades from the original build year of 1995 including a graphite chassis with carbon fiber stiffeners and plates, Full TA-02 Wide arm kit, Aluminum steering knuckles, Aluminum Uprights, Aluminum shocks, Titanium turnbuckles, Hardened steel bones and a few more goodies too.... This was my very first RC car and I made it when I was 19.... Here it is 27 years later and I went ok time to get the ol girl backout on the road and have fun with it once again.... Tell me what you think of her thus far....

Newbie help - TA02 convert to offroad
Original Jardasius replied to Eskay's topic in Vintage Tamiya Discussion
My professional opinion I wouldn't convert the TA-02 into an offroad car its chassis wasn't designed for it yes it can be done but the underside will get wrecked to badword... If you want to go offroad I would consider getting a TT-02B chassis or a VX-01 chassis instead.... It has much better clearance and is far more reliable & durable then the old TA-02 -

For I it was the Christmas of 1987 I was 12 years old and every christmas all of my family would pound the mall for presents.... I remember following my older cousin and uncle into the local hobby shop and watched his dad forkout the cash for a grasshopper and everything he needed to build and drive it... I proceeded to leave with them then I seen it.... The Clod Buster... What a beast... 4 wheel drive check!, 4 wheel steering check!, heart racing check! I stood there as they all said "Are you coming/" and I said "comeback for me later..." Drooling and eyeballing the big boy I wanted it so bad but knew no way my folks could helpout on cost or even gift it to me..... I had always wondered if the rest of my family on my fathers side would have spread the love they gave to the rest of their family maybe I would have had some hope in getting it... Sadly that christmas no Clod Buster for this lad...... Christmas eve of 2011 I was deployed to help find some lost hikers & was in a mobile command center and got the call my father was taken to the hospital and then said "Ok Mom, keep me posted" sat down my phone and was going to finish my shift when I was ordered to go home so I did..... As I came to my place and had just unlocked the door I got the worst call of my life... He never made it home... Shocked, stunned & crying I dumped my bags on the floor wentin and drank a bit till I passed out... Yea I know a weebit eh... Well christmas after that was never the same when my mother about 10 days to christmas died in 2015... a double christmas whammy.... Well this last year I seen that tamiya released the Super Clod Buster Black Edition so I bought and built it for my christmas... The only year since their deaths that I didnt drink heavily on that day.... -

Without a coupon.... Most of the japan sellers on amazon are fairly priced on their products and have the ACTUAL kits not knockoff's -

Only the Super Clod had the capacitors due to the higher torque motors from the original version I believe -
Nice looking clods you have there kudos to them!! I have mine almost at 100% completed Pic is below... I kept my chassis basically stock except for a center chassis plate brace... Body is fairly customized.. I also lowered my front bumper to add better protection

Backorder. Is September for real?

I have been a tower customer since 1994 and the last few years prior horizon days they was fairly accurate... Now??? Not so much I had a couple tamiyas myself get pushed back four or more times then dropped completely from their website... Their term of (Dis-continued) does NOT mean tamiya has dropped it.. It means tower CHOSE to drop all sales and support of the said kit... I consider this a complete & total d**k move on their part IMO... I no longer buy tamiyas from tower and go to amain or amazon to find them now... IF you go to amazon pay close attention to find the stores based in japan they have the real kits for a smidge higher then towers prices..... -
