  1. I'd say so , I have blue (hardest) to last and on grass plenty of grip
  2. oops forgot to say xv01 is Lancia delta ,tt01e mercedes sls, dt02 sand viper. Seriously need to sort some tires out and I played with my tt01 setup and made it worse it's twitchy as a rabbit now,too twitchy for my ability I'm just in awe at those at the top my brain and hands couldn't move that fast
  3. wow given the way I had my practice runs those cones wouldn't have lasted , you must have plenty of skill and patience
  4. Are you in the UK ? It's very difficult at present with the restrictions and what is permitted ,I haven't been out of my own boundary in probably 4 months until today except for appointments but being wheelchair bound and electric at that exercise is well, open to interpretation somewhat. I have a quiet park a few minutes roll/walk away which has some tarmac basketball /football type courts left in disrepair and pretty much unused and tucked away so I took the opportunity to have half an hour in today's mild weather. A lot of parks have them if you've one near you
  5. well I tried my tt01e today ,wet slightly algaed tarmac and grip was a challenge touched the power and slid the back end out ,still it's was fun to be outside off the drive and no chance of hitting the house Tires are way too hard for the conditions
  6. Hi, can I just ask the guys running tt01/2 on flat tarmac ,how low can you take the tub without it catching everything ? like a court not a track I mean
  7. Tried my sand viper on the lawn and getting the track positioned was a challenge in itself ,always 1 part very tight to the border. Had to restrict the throttle to 40% and it was still hard work not to put a rear in the border over the time. Needs a little tuning but got a full run in at least , not telling how many aborted runs due to going off into the wilderness though
  8. It's the easiest and slowest to drive being stock ,have a tt-01e and dt-02 sand viper also ,if I can get the track on the lawn might try the viper but not on the drive I'm bound to overcook it and hit the house !
  9. Hi, no I won't disclose my laps ,that count I gave was from the last rounds track I never submitted
  10. Hi, so I gave it a go in the freezing cold and it was pretty taxing for me ,expecting to be bottom but here for the fun, only had 1 quick try at the last one due to no time left and ice so didn't submit managed 23 with stock xv-01 . Started hobby again after a 30+ year break which was pretty enforced by a rugby accident left me paralyzed from the neck down in 88 but ce la vie. Started again as my son is interested in cars so thought him building would show him how they work and modern power chairs can get me places the old ones couldn't. I have a small amount of movement in the shoulders and biseps thankfully so can manage with adaptation just enough to have decent control. prototype pics p Anyway ,have time this time so hopefully I can improve at least, nice to meet you all
  11. very good , just never seen one that size
  12. 5.1mm is a precise size , what did you use to drill that ?
  13. Hi, can you please tell me what adapter you are using please ?
  14. Hi, those can't be original tyres so what are you using please ? I have my 33 year old big brute but it's tireless as you can imagine
  15. lucky her, good luck with it when all this is over
  16. I have heard that, putting soft on the front and harder on the back , but reluctant at the moment to get the springs as I might upgrade the dampers but not decided yet
  17. Hi, yes I had added an extra spacer ,I just feel the damping is a little light when I test drop it.Is your daughter planning on racing it?
  18. Thanks guys, obviously I haven't had much chance to run it but I had a 19t pinion and torque tuned in it and it ran fine but obviously stock fronts gave no grip offroad, switched to 13.5 brushless and schumacher minispike fronts and if anything there's to much grip on the grass and plenty on the loose and I'm waiting for some more wheels to arrive for a harder surface setup, I'm running Nimh so maybe more weight in mine than you Mad4fun if you're using lipo?. It does bottom out at the rear too easily and I'm not jumping much or high , I'm thinking heavier oil and increased ride height will help . Not had chance to use it much but it's easy to drive ,fun and forgiving and I don't want to ruin that so I just wondering before I do anything .
  19. Hi, I built my sand viper as per instructions with the shock mounted on the rear lower outside position .I prefer my shocks as upright as possible and I can't get hold of the carbon extension for the tower so I'm left with the lower inner mount option which will be more vertical . I'm no racer so I'm just wondering what the effect on handling will be? I'm assuming the rear ride height will increase slightly ? I'm disabled and need assistance with build /maintenance so before I rope someone in to help I'd like to know the effect ,thanks in advance
  20. Hi, I've had a quick search and can't find exactly the information I would like . I'm wondering what rear tyres to put on my DT02 sand viper for tarmac/rough tarmac and general surface, I'm using the stock rear and mini spike front for grass bashing. I'm not sure whether to get a tarmac tyre which might be too restrictive and wondered what the Tamiya Tyre K Rear 62/35 is like or if will wear very quickly just going on anything hard based. I'd appreciate any experience with the tyre from someone ,probably just going to use the stock front for now with it, DF-03 rear wheel . thanks in advance
  21. Thanks ,I'm was just worried that they wouldn't fit on the short ones as it looked tight, thanks for the help
  22. Hi, I'm just looking for a bit of help please. I want to change the step screws that mount the CVA shocks for ball nuts. I looked at the MS version instructions and it has 3x12mm grub screw and 5mm short ball nuts 9808012 ,but that's is for the df03 aluminium shocks , can I use them for CVA shocks that came with my viper or do I need the standard length ones. Also the MS uses 5x9mm ball connector 9805611 for the lower rear connection ,can I use ball connector instead ? Just not sure Thanks in advance
  23. Thanks ,that seems pretty sensible values in line with what I was thinking for the front and a bit heavier at the back but I think i'll give it a go, much appreciated
  24. Hi, I know this has been asked on here before but the answers were so varied from 5k-200k oil so I could do with a some help please. Currently my XV-01 is stock rally as per the manual, going to service it and wondered what diff oil to use. I just run it for fun, mainly park paths, old tarmac ,light gravel, it's a bit loose under acceleration so I'm wondering what weight oil to put in the diffs? Only running 7.2 Nimh stock motor , might up the motor when it's done this one in but nothing silly as I like the scale feel of it. Won't be racing it, I'm severely disabled so racing is a bit too much for me I think, and I need help building and maintaining my cars so I'd like to get it right.Look forward to your opinions
