  1. So it arrived from eBay (I held my breath as I opened the parcel) but, for what its worth, it doesn't look all that bad. It's very oily which I don't mind, all the seals seem to be intact and no nasty nitro gunge in the tank or pipes (further inspection required) and the compression feels tight. So... with everywhere closed at the moment and no where to get any fuel to try and fire up the old stinker I thought I'd start detailing the new shell, I've gone for the Tamiya Porsche GT3 VIP Cup kit but my intentions are not to replicate the 'box body' instead turn this into a more of an on-road GT3 RS - there are also a few other bits in the goody bag of parts I've ordered too. Choosing paint colours online is like flipping a coin so would anyone kindly have any advice as to what Tamiya colour would best match 'Porsche Rivera Blue' (very exotic)? Wheels are the next item on the list, however, offset is definitely going to be the biggest factor in getting the right look. I've posted a few images of what I'm thinking these wheels are available in 3mm/6mm/9mm I'm assuming the rears will have a bigger bowl, some more investigation is needed I might need to get the ruler out when the shell is mocked up. Lastly, the shocks have gone to trifle so I'm looking at some 3 racing oil dampers and maybe some nice ally blue hop-ups to match. I'm a complete novice so any advice is much appreciated!
  2. Thanks you so much - this is a great help. Could you point me in the right direction for part numbers for the TGS? I have looked for ages online trying to find an extensive list, the TGS pdf manual only contains the name of the part name and no numbers. One more question you guys might be able to help me with... I'm looking forward to replacing the very 'Max Max' looking shell! From what I gather the TGS chassis takes a 190mm shell - are there compatibility issues across the Tamiya 1/10 range or is it pretty much cut to fit? I like the look of this: https://www.modelsport.co.uk/tamiya-body-for-58407-tt-01e-/rc-car-products/391130
  3. Hi Guys, I'm looking for a FS-12 SS Liner & Piston (I'm sure these are quite rare now) would anyone have a spare knocking around in a tool draw? I wondered are any other Tamiya liners and pistons compatible with this engine and heat sink? I really don't want to buy a new engine if I don't have to. I've found a few via eBay I wondered if a FS-12 FD would fit for example?
  4. Hi Everyone, I am new to the forum and have just brought a vintage Tamiya TGS Nitro from eBay. I'm a novice but my dad has always played around with Nitro Cars since I was a kid so I'm hoping he will lend a helping hand. The car was brought as a non-runner (apparently it did start in November), I'm keen to do a tear down and restore the engine (If I can still get hold of the parts!) Could anyone recommend where I can purchase a new piston, liner & back plate gasket? I'm sure these are like hens teeth these days. I have found some for sale on eBay from international sellers but I'm not sure on compatibility, the engine is an FS-12 SS if I'm not mistaken. However, the piston & liner parts I have found via eBay list other variants such as; FS-12 SW FS-12 D FS-12 FD FS-12 SW FS-15 LT Would any of these be compatible? It's not arrived yet but I've posted a few pictures from the auction, any advice or useful links etc would be much appreciated! Cheers, Luke
