  1. Thundershot will be the donor Wow. Old Willy’s motor insides in way better shape. Willy’s top. T shot bottom
  2. Harvest-able motors (with similar traits) in my arsenal include grass hoppers’s 540 thunder shot’s 540 are my choices should I decide to pull something apart to attempt a fix for my issue.
  3. note the center of ww motor non pinion side. Note a typical 80’s Tamiya motor. I believe the typically motor is from sonic fighter but I could be wrong.
  4. My equipment is as follows and shown below speed control : Tamiya TBLE02S battery: VP RACING 3700 NiMH radio: flysky GT3C the current issue with my motor is the non pinion side has tons of slop. The sounds coming from the spinning motor is Horrendous
  5. Thanks. I will assume a replacement WW motor is the optimum solution and I will plan accordingly.
  6. I’m a Jeep guy (1:1) and I thought I was building side windows too. I see now that this soft top is “safari style”. It just attaches in the front and the back. Now on to my real problem. The Willy’s motor is smoked and the pinion is pressed on. All the other pinions I have appear to be way differ pitch?
  7. I’ll be there. How do you attach to tailgate and side rails?
  8. I was told this is a do it yourself mod. as you can see in this advertisement they give you the measurements Has anyone done this and if so what are you using for fabric and what’s doing for attaching the fabric to the windshield frame / side rails and tailgate ? I’m going to give us a shot
  9. Bumping this to the top. No one in these states wants a metallic ww2? Open to offers
  10. I also noticed the TT02 Audi went for more than you can buy it for retail? I guess some people just like the thrill of winning and auction? Make so sense to me. If you shop that car around it can be had for $120USD. I think I was it sold for $180
  11. Welcome to the club. These aren’t as tuff as you think. Enjoy it lightly. Btw see shapeways for many repop parts for these buggies. I even think they sell grills that will match the original wild Willy’s. I know I bought ans a arm from them and they have the shock tower Mount and bulkheads. Good luck with it - it’s looks great already
  12. I feel you but don’t hate me because I’m beautiful.
  13. New in package 40 year old parts got used this weekend on vintage wild Willy’s truth be told these were actually bought for my Audi Quattro rally and I’ve had them since 198something new in package and then this happened to wild willys this weekend oh the devastation now back in 198something I’d tear these packages open and the head down to MRC in Edison NJ and pick up some more. But these days I’m hesitant to open new in package parts. I would order some repop parts from shapeways. Like I did for wild Willy’s when I got him. I noticed one of the a arms was glued so I pickup An A arm shapeways part just in case , and ran the glued one till it broke which was this weekend but since I originally bought these parts for my Audi and this tree comes with the wild Willy’s bumper it only logical to open that tree and use the new in package bumper on wild Willy’s while the packages was open I have to use the shock tower mount (and the bulkhead -oh that was painful) and now wild Willy’s is back to full strength and since I had the shapeways a arm some parts still get to remain new in package. Now I’ll really have to be more careful with my Tamiya grail cars. I’ll get on shapeways soon to replenish my stock Even though it was sad I did enjoy using the old parts. I mean that’s why I got them right?
  14. I having the pull to the right hard under power problem with my TT02. I just locked the front differential I’m going to pull that out and see if that’s why outs pulling. While boating it goes straight.
  15. Did anyone have a generally stock TT02 and do the YEAH RACING kit? i put the front differential lock in and I’m not sure I like they way or drives on the road. I really do like the way the front diffy lock makes it drive on the grass at lot better and it’s so much faster now. Anyone else doing this mod?
  16. It will be nice to see if anyone here picked up something nice. I bid on some items but they got out of my price range and I gave up. I honest didn’t want any of them that bad. I already have the 58036 and the wild Willy’s so no need in me paying up just to have another one. If there was anything I could steal I would have done it but nothing really left too cheap. There were some good deals on some stuff. Certainly less than what I felt was market value but still too much for me
  17. I swear by the fly sky GT3C and I do have the best luck with the hw1060 on all my vintage rides. And +1 on PICS OR IT DIDN’T HAPPEN.
  18. Yeah. Nice car. Do those bearings. You will be happy.
  19. Sorry to hijack your thread but Does anyone have one yellow rear rim from falcon they can spare?
  20. I’m a big fan of the hotshot. Its nice!
  21. My GF01 started out as a knee jerk reaction when I saw the Tamiya usa Super Bowl sale last year and an blazing price on this kit it took almost a year to build since I made it a daddy daughter project to spark some RC interest with my kids. then we started to run it and oh wow did the FJ40 body fail!!!. Every time we look it out it would end like this then I got this bright idea from this forum. I think Simeon Says gets the credit for the idea of Wild Willys body on a GF01. And now it’s nearly indestructible even with the hottest motor! I even thru some sand paddles on there and my vintage Audi Quattro Rally tire as the spare. I’m amazed at how correctly the wild wily 2 body fits the gf01 chassis. I only had to reverse the body mounts and do the slightest trimming beneath the ww body and now my Willy’s collection is strong!
  22. new rally blocks on the last bit of snow. Spring is almost here
