Ball bearings are a must. It has oil filled shocks similar to the comical line. I did do the steel driveshaft upgrade. I installed the part to lock the rear diff, but left the front diff unlocked so I did not have issues on the road while turning. It did come with a light kit.

I only use thread lock stuff on grub screws, and I have never had a motor screw come loose.

The original was beautiful, so the re re should be fine.

I bought one back in May and it's in the build pile. Too many buggys not enough time.

I have a TT02 and I need the rear body posts forward some. Can the plastic body posts be heated up enough to angle them forward or will they break? After they are forward I will be using magnetic mounts on the body posts and can angle them for the roof of the body. Right now the mounts will be right where the rear roof meets the back window.

I'm waiting for the 50th anniversary Lambo. LOL

How about a strip of re-enforcement tape to protect the paint then sho go on the tape to secure the magnets?
-
Speaking of oldies, did they ever re re the Lamborghini?
-
What do you guys do to install the magnets on the underside of the lexan/poly carb car body? Are you using double stick tape?

I bought that set off of amazon back in January for about $25. Work great.

Seems a bit secretive around the front end.
2021 Frog?
That would be cool if they made a modern frog.

Oh my... if that became a kit I would most DEFINITELY buy one. I love it!
Just the body and blue wheel inserts would be fine for me.

Is there a way to know?
I go to "Tamiyausa" and see available to order: "Grasshopper" . . "Avante" . . ."Hornet" . . ."Frog"
But when i go to tower hobbies (Horizon Hobby) it shows "Discontinued" for the grasshopper. Sooo . . .maybe the grasshopper is on its way out, everything else seems fairly readily available.
Which one are you looking at picking up? These short wheelbase big wheel RC's are quite fun to drive around, even on a stock silver can. Just my .02.
I have the frog and it's fun. I was thinking of picking up the grasshopper to go with it.

Are the comicals still being made or what ever is out there was from the production run?
-
Yep, the RS540SD with the red end cap was also called the Black or re-wound motor and it was made for the race type cars (Porsche, Lambos, F1). I put one in my rough rider back in the day and that buggy flew! At speed the tires would increase in diameter and lift the back of the buggy. Unfortunately if you hit a stick, branch, pebble or rock it would tumble for 15-20 feet and the car body would fly apart with the little drivers head bouncing down the street. Bodies were not cheap back then, around $20, and after replacing a few I took the motor out and sold it. It saved me a lot of money in the long run.

Oh c'mon man, no antenna? LOL

Anybody remember the good old days like 20 years ago when paypal said that there would be no fees.

Gotta love the old speed control.

I picked up a TLU-01 led light unit for my comical frog. Just need to install and wire it up.

I do want one of those buggys.

I am making my own new 7.2v NiMH hump packs for my Rough Riders and sand scorcher. For those that made their own packs, what size shrink wrap did you use?
-
I ran a 540SD "black" rewound motor in my original rough rider. But after I trashed enough bodies from high speed crashes where the car tumbled for 15-20 feet, I took it out and sold it to the next victim.

Apparently it doesn't bond well to lexan - unless you prep the surface. But you can use markers. The comical Grasshopper uses stickers for the frame. They are a pain to apply and tend to peel.
Markers, like sharpies? Does it last?

What should Tamiya (RC) do/launch—if you worked for their development team?

A Daker rally truck would be neat, maybe CC02 chassis. Maybe a sandcrawler.
