    Lexan window frames - best way to paint

    Tamiya acrylics aren't suited for use on lexan. The airbrushable acrylics for lexan can be brush painted if you want, although I tend to mask and spray as you get a better finish.

    You can pick out details on the outside with something like a fine permanent marker but be careful as it can end up looking more unrealistic than the plain lexan shell.

     

    I was hoping that I could use the Tammy acrylic on the lexan to do the outlines on the window frames on my comical frog. I figured the black outlines would look nice with the white body with pink decals..

    I picked up a comical frog back in early January and it was an interesting build and a fun buggy. I am actually working on cutting up the body for painting as we speak. For pricing it was $150 (us) I don't know what that comes out to in Quid for you guys on the other side of the puddle. I actually only paid $90 with free shipping from amazon because  they gave me $60 off for opening a CC account. So for me that made it even easier to buy it. I did throw in a ball bearing kit as I do with all my builds.

    I did check Quid to bucks: 109 Quid, 65 after discount.

    Don't waste your time and money on that crap. Around 5 or so years ago, gun guys were raving about that crap on the boards then like a year or two later they were having issues with it gumming up the parts. Especially when it sits around something happens to that lube.

    It stated "table rate", cheapest rate possible, 2-3 weeks. $6 bucks and it went through Fed Ex.

    I hear you, but at that price I had to grab one. The SRBs are quite expensive even the re-re units. I thought about getting a fighting buggy, but decided to grab the sand scorcher to go with my two original rough riders. I am restoring my original 1980 RR plus a MKI RR. I already have a hornet and lunchbox to build and the SS will be on the bottom of the pile. The only other Tammy I really want is the new Benz Unimog that is supposed to be out in May.

    Instead of brushes, the esc is a mini computer, and works out the motor position, (either by a sensor on the back of the motor- sensored, or by powering up one coil, and seeing which other wire it gets a feed back from - sensorless) , and then works out which coil to energise next.

    By the way, the "Now in Stock" posters always came with one poster in each carton of 4-5-6 kits (depending on kit size) to the dealers. I don't know if they still do as I stopped working in the business in 2000, but I wouldn't be surprised if these posters are still included. The distributors also got the same posters loose for the distribution to dealers.

    I just checked my original box, bought around spring 1980, and it shows the bumper that was included in the kit (black) and the rear swing arm is the same as the kit. I am currently restoring it, plus I picked up a MKI rolling chassis and will restore that one when finished with the first.
