  1. Or use TL01 arms and then you may get lucky. I am sure there is a MF01x with TL01 arms on a Porsche on this site. IIRC they used a one way diff to give RWD with 4 wheel brakes.
  2. Today was a tale of two pumpkins, and it was really was the best of times, and it was the blurst of times. I took out of CR12 and CW01 Pumpkins. The CR12 was going great for a while but something started to sound odd with the gearbox and I lost drive. Opened it up for find the gear shreaded to pieces. I've never seen something get so torn up and these are hardened steel. Oddly this the second gear in the chain, the first step gear had some wear but this was like nothing I have seen. No grit, gravel or dirt on the gearbox I could see. Annoyed as these are meant to be an upgrade. So I went back to the 370 motor and put on the lighter FJ45 body. The body is a little short, but that's monster trucks, right? 😄 With the FJ45 now on the CR12 I made good on my plan to make a MF01x Pumpkin. This did have another FJ45 body, but that cracked when I drove it off my cupboard. The chassis is slightly too short, but I am planning to cut the arches on the rearward side of the front wheels to which will balance it out. As for the CW01 pumpkin, it went well but seemed to loose power very quickly, like the esc was cutting out (HW1060, Torque Tuned, 4500 NiMH) on rough stuff. Might be a bad battery? Had about 5 mins of good action which doesn't seem enough and the Pumpkin should be able to tackle medium clumpy grass? Will try with a better battery.
  3. What happened? They are nice little cars. I finished off my MF01x D90 by giving it some larger wheels. These are rock blocks, and the ground clearance is pretty good. Fits nicely with the GF01 jeep. They are both nice all rounders and small enough to be enjoyed indoors, whilst robust enough to tackle the BMX track. The MF01x needs a wheelie bar.
  4. Trucks. Monster trucks, stadium or sct and trophy trucks and other real life off roaders. Not such a fan of buggies as they don't really exist in real life, outside of the earlier Tamiya types and have now become thier own thing.
  5. Would the GF02 be an option? Probably too high geared, but it's got a smooth quiet drive train and not too massive. Imagining it with a hard body and lights. I also had an image of a hummer with portals and then a 3rd channel rotating the top machine gun that is now a pen light.
  6. I put a tiny o ring (made of the silicon sheath of a 14 SWG wire) between the drive cup and the diff, which just pushed the drive cup out 1 mm. This keeps the rear dog bones locked in. I've lost a tiny bit of contact between the diff and drive cup but not enough to worry about.
  7. Its 1/14 scale track width 200mm, so TL01B might be too much?
  8. These do look fantastic, although too large for me to fit in my 1:12 collection. I am on the look out for some of the arms, does anyone the part number please? I am planning to make a SCT using a MF01x base and need even wider arms than the TL01 arms I have currently
  9. Two speed would be great. Light weight would be good, should failure occur perhaps. Easy to clean or at least a truck that wont need a clean mid drive (or get things caught in the axles or drive train). Low drag in drive train to get the most out of batteries.
  10. Accidentally drove my MF01x off a tall wardrobe because I accidentally left it on. The body and rear gearbox snapped. 😢 Found QD MT springs work well in the CR12 to give much stiffer springs, which it needs as it has a hard body and is no longer a crawler. 😁 The ESC battery wire in aforementioned truck broke. 😥 Getting soldering iron for christmas 😁 So a mixed day....
  11. Rain and crappy weather. First day off in forever, went to charge up the cars. Raining now - so the concrete will be unusable, and the BMX track and gravel pitch very slidy and dirty. Might try and pop out later today if I can, but not looking hopeful. I don't really mind youtubers, it's like people bashing a traxxas to death, watch or don't. If you don't watch it doesn't effect you.
  12. Would this fit the clod body. Might be an interesting take on a 4x4x4
  13. For some reason when I saw the wheelbase option I thought you were going to do a 4x4x4 by using two motors and two sets of front halves!
  14. GPM steel gear for thunder tiger Kaiser which was the first of these chassis. https://www.gpmparts.com/thunder-tiger-kaiser-xs-steel-45-spur-gear-56t-double-speed-reduction-gears-2pc-set-gpm-skxs56t1233t-p-90079983.html These things are hard!
  15. Yes. This was a PUBG 4x4 but it's the same chassis (and also the new TA MT12 range...). I've heard the gears and axle gears can be tricky, so these are all metal upgrades. It's my first 4 link solid axle chassis so can't really compare but looks good to me. Apmro engineering has a lovely video on that conversion, looks stunning.
  16. I finished off project 4x4 pumpkin. 4x4 truck in true 1/12 scale. Pretty epic. Pictured with my GF01.
  17. So I couldn't leave well alone. I enjoyed the chevy body but I felt that it looked a little odd in scale. Having always wanted a proper 4x4 Pumpkin I decided to try my hand at modifying the car a little. First thing I did was swap out the links for my own made of stainless 3 mm studding, giving a wheelbase of around 210mm or so. I cut down the two prop shafts. These are just plastic, so I may order some metal ones if needed. The motor is the same high KV but somewhat weedy 2435 Surpass brushless. This gives a decent top speed without stressing the drive train too much, so it should be ok. I made a small box for the electronics, just to neaten them up.. Spray painted the clear coated the body. I added a full interior. I added some livery just using stickers I had. And here it is And next to my GF01 for scale. I am interested to see how it handles. It willI be much more top heavy than stock, but if it doesn't work as an MT I could put crawler wheels and even go back to the 390 motor. I might need stiffer springs now, we shall see. Hopefully taking out this Thursday on a very rare day off.
  18. The GF01 does quite well on friction dampeners so this might be the same? But agreed, 4 X CVAs really add up.
  19. Soldering. Just never ever as neat as factory. I never have enough hands and looks crap. Excessive plastic waste, looking at you giant sprues and bushing. Other than that, not much. I choose the kits I do as those are the ones that interest me without annoying bits!
  20. Yeah they are tiny. I have one in my 1/12 collection as they look like they fit in.
  21. I work on the kitchen table and take it off by the morning. I could probably get a dedicated desk in the spare room, but a) it's mainly my wife's office and b) I would leave it as a mess.
  22. How does it handle? I've got the UK monsters front and could be tempted with a 4 link on rear!
  23. I recently picked up a Taiyo Jet Fighter https://tycocollectors.b-cdn.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/07/8714-Taiyo-Japan-Jet-Fighter-Car-with-Controller.jpg?v=1691848753 And in trying to solder in some new electronics I made such a hash of the chassis (melted quite a bit of it to be honest) I've decided that I'm going to go another route. I've decided the scrap the chassis and pair the front bulkhead and rear gearbox with a QD Thunder Dragon body to make a 1/14 Thunder Dragon with mono-shock. The QD Thunder Dragon is one of my favourites - but it quite different from the 1/10 version - and lacks that iconic yellow mono shock. For this I'll need to make a new chassis plate. My plan is to have a simple bottom plate and then attach the front bulkhead to this. This flat piece will hold the servo, small li-ion battery as well as simple 3D printed mount for the rear axle. I was wondering what material and thickness for the chassis plate please? It's a small, light car - so I was hoping that 3 mm aluminium would be enough? I don't have the capabilities to add a lip to make it stronger. I'll be moving from 8 x AA to 18650 li-ions, so I'll save some weight that way - but I'd rather not go thicker than I need, I can't see myself bashing this hard! Carbon Fibre could be an option, but I don't have a way to cut it - and I can get aluminium cut to size very cheaply. Pictures upcoming this evening!
  24. This is awesome and so much beyond me I'm in awe. Bravo.
  25. Manual is out - do we think these arms will work with the GF01/TL01/MF01x chassis? I might be interested in these for my MF01x, currently running Tl01 arms, but these look wider? Looks like a cool truck, but too big for me.
