I'd wager that these will never hit discount. They will match the supply to meet the demand. They won't make the same mistake that they made with the Worlds re-release 10 years ago

Here in the UK it seems that the allocated stock might already be sold out.

I wouldn't mind having one of these, just for the stamped & laser-etched parts and the unique box. I don't really have a problem with the price but it is a bit galling, when I paid less than £150 each for two of the classics in 2013.

I agree they won't be discounted , id be surprised if AE doesn't just make what gets pre-ordered.

Due to the cough cough Pandemic and the current Potato for an American President (I'm American), the world's economy is a faaaaar different place. Fuel costs alone justify the cost increase.

Why would this cost almost 20% more than the clear though? I don't disagree that it's a good car, but it really does feel excessive for such a basic kit. Heck you can get an Egress for about the same price.

I still want one but I'm hesitant because of the price. I'll either miss out or pick one up once we see a discount it if they're not selling. Can't help but feel that most buyers are considering this an investment and that AE would have made a lot more $$ selling a higher qty at $320.

The plastics cost more, compared to the clear fragile parts on the CC. Where can you buy a NIB Egress for 320?

While the RC10 is tough as nails, it can wear out over time.  My backyard track is very sandy so worn ballcups, hinge pins, drive cups, dog bones, shock shafts, - just about every moving part - are a nagging problem.  Even the chassis pan on at least one of my runners is wearing thin.

I have actually broken very few parts and it's always been due to driver error.

For sure, all of which you can easily find exceot maybe the drive cups, maybe get a few of thise, that said Ive never worn them out on any of mine but my cars only get occasional use with the kids.  Hubs, arms, suspension mounts etc. Ive never broke one on a RC10 and theyve bene ran on 1/8 dirt tracks with brushless/lipo. These were OG stealth cars at that, not new produced stuff. New rere palstics should be stronger.

So I can take one to the skate park and launch it 50ft into the air?

No modern 1/10 can take that either. That isn't the context of the discussion. Try better to be a better more contributive member of the forum.

That's how I feel, the official video plays up the racing angle and shows old RC10s jumping around tracks, but there's no footage of the rere in action.

If you watch Kyoshos videos for the JJ Ultima rere, there's some modern footage of them jumping around tracks.

The RC10 followed 1:1 racing car philosophy, keep it simple. It's almost impossible to break. The turnbuckles are the only thing you need to replace, they bend very easily due to their thin diameter.

I've restored 2 old vintage RC10s.  One team car and one worlds car. They take modern abuse well, no mods needed to run brushless or lipos.

There's a company making perfect replica parts for the OG RC10s called Fan RC. If you actually brake something they got your back.

I'll be driving and racing the 4oth, although with a different chassis!

The way that I see it, the limited release gimmick is in line with Thunder Tigers "race-grade" stuff. Build something nice, offer weak parts support ,and discontinue it rapidly so they can sell you the next maguffin, and everyone can gobble up the old parts.

This both ensures that Thunder Tiger won't have spare inventory sitting around, and it keeps people buying their new products, either because they need to be competitive or because they missed out. It's the smartphone system, and afaik it began under Thunder Tigers ownership.

This is also one of the few ways for Team Associated to build hype for their brand outside of the racing-realm. I can only assume that their "bashers" aren't selling too well.

Look, I love Tamiya that said AE does not need the spare support that Tamiya does.  You aren't going to brake anything.  It's a vintage rere you can get ANYTHING online.

This makes me overthink my RC plans... The RC10 looks ubercool and I always wanted one. But would I build and drive a limited edition like this? Not so sure... But the itch to get one is certainly there. Tamico has announced it for June, but does not take pre-orders yet.

Other then the chassis which can get pretty beat up even just running in the grass the rest of the car is pretty bulletproof.  Buy a used gold chassis, use that for the build and for running. If you ever decided to sell rebuild with the mint 40 anni chassis, done.  Preorder from AE .

Wow, that’s really impressive. If you had an Egress 2013 or Avante BS in your collection would you trust one over the other as a runner? Asking for a friend B)

You really need both! I have a rere Egress and my brother's OG Avante. They really are fun to drive and quite different.  The rere Egress's stiffer and thicker servo arm eliminates some of the bump steer the og had, I don't use a servo saver anymore with new servos and that also improved the steering.

In the original thread I started about this earlier, I admit I had some trepidation about being a bit negative about the price. But, I figured we're all here to talk about toy cars so having an opinion is ok as long as one respects other's opinions. I'm happy for those that see value in this rerelease which is more representative of the original and less of a display piece than the clear version.

I'm in the hard "nope" category as well unfortunately although I'm glad not to be alone in that. I have sold off cars to make room and saved back for this RC10 but its just too much money. Its much like the feeling I mentioned in the "That's too much!" thread. When I see pricing like that, much like a $10+ can of paint, I can't help but feel we're being taken advantage of. This is even more true with something that tugs on the heartstrings like the return of the RC10 certainly does for some. This "Limited Edition!!!" FOMO crap angle doesn't help either. There will no doubt be defenders of the price and Associated's actions and that's cool. If its worth it to someone then they should go for it and be happy doing so. Everybody knows its nowhere near as bad as some of the garbage that's transpired of late in our hobby (Trashaxx shenanigans and Horizon's destruction of Tower Hobbies, etc.) I have a sneaking suspicion Associated looked sideways at what Kyosho was charging for the JJ Ultima and priced accordingly. Of course, being a replica of the '87 Worlds winner with many unique re-created parts just for that limited edition model means that its worth its price. A rehash of the RC10 Classic with some laser etching? Sorry, nah.

I know Associated had to remake the molds yet again so there's expenditure up front to recoup, but they had to do that with the Classic too. This tactic is probably to minimize risk through the max-profit capitalism approach. AE could probably sell consistent numbers of these (much like Tamiya does with their mainstay rereleases that have been in production now longer than the originals were) every year at reasonable prices. Instead they went for the FOMO limited numbers max-profit approach right away and will sell every one made (which we'll likely see, still sealed in boxes, selling for $800+ on Fleabay in 2 years). But that's capitalism, and in the short term, the safer (and some would say smarter) move so we can't blame them. They're here to make money just like all the other manufacturers.

Maybe we'll get lucky and we might see a more affordable non "Limited Edition" variant come out after the hoopla of this one has died down, but that's probably dreaming. More likely, there will be other RC10 variants brought out in limited numbers at high prices in the following years if this current pricing scheme works out for them. Of course the second a future rerelease crashes (like the Worlds car did), AE could quickly pull the plug too as we've seen in the past. You know, I've got 8 old RC10s that I've had for many years and could have made a killing selling as prices on them have shot up but I think I'll just tinker with them. I've also got something totally new,  yet deliciously retro, called the BBX to put together and run without any guilt.

$100 US price increase after the last one was made 10 years ago is more then fair.  I doubt there will be a cheaper Gold Pan, hopefully AE/Tiger is smartee then Tamiya and does a Graphite or Truck version next. A team car would be awesome!

  10. It is a little pricey, BUT it's been ten years (holy cow) since the last one and the economy is a disaster compared to 10 years ago, price is in line with inflation.

Is it a little lazy, maybe. Tons of people have wanted this and AE/Tiger listened.

Price is in line for what a garbage vintage would cost and a NIB RC10 Classic from 10 years ago will cost you double. It's a win!

AE/Tiger do need to step it up now, next one needs to be a T or Graphite. Then everyone will lose their minds.

Meanwhile Tamiya keeps dropping things no one has asked for......
