As I have the luxury of two kits, I will build one for the shelf and maybe later for moderate use. I can imagine AE exploiting the vintage market and bringing more kits now that this 40th anniversary edition was quite successful. The numbers I have seen so far suggest they made 4000 kits. Which is impressive for our hobby.

For me the CC belongs build on the shelf to have the full effect. The 40th kit can be everything. A runner, a shelfqueen, a spareparts stock or a NiB kit for a collector and later selling. I would favor (the build) fun over a sealed box for the pure joy of life. But you decide ^_^

Just like Tamiya AE has a back catalog alot are waiting for. Graphite car, team car, CE car etc. Heck They could do the Kyosho thing and release race cars never sold such as the Detroit car, stealth car, etc etc.

I see we still have hoarders and ebay pirates in the hobby, not at all shocked.

I ordered the 40th and the CC, but will likely give the 40th to my best friend.

10 years from now someone will die, and there will be an auction, and the guy will have 25 RC10 40th in his basement, he had no use for or need for lol.

It's ridiculous, they are asking double for a kit that you can currently buy!!!!

To be honest, the RC10 re-release was a bit of a flop and AE actually struggled to sell all of the kits.

The Worlds kit was being practically given away by shops in the end. Ironic really, considering what they go for now.

Have a look at RC10talk.com. There is a dedicated section to the re-releases and it is absolutely dead. By the looks of things there have been about 10 posts there in the last 12 months. It's the vintage buggies that spark the passion of RC10 enthusiasts.

IMO there is zero chance of the RC10 coming back again in any form. And they probably think it was a waste of time bringing it back at all. I am certainly glad they did though. :)

    That didnt age well.

Kit #3743 is getting staged and ready. Lots of rain in the forecast this week, so the body will have to wait a bit . . . which is fine since I'm nervous as all heck that I'm gonna screw it up. I'll pick at the build throughout the week after work, no rush.

Well as I posted about getting the Kyosho Turbo Ultima I get a call that he forgot it had been sold already for whatever reason...perhaps he decided to keep it, who knows, just be honest.

Probably saw it was valued more than 500.  I don't know, a bit disappointed, but it is what it is

I also pulled the plug on getting a 40th RC10. Associated just confirmed it and sent my money back.

I'll just run my Edinger RC-10 if I feel the need someday, otherwise I have no reason to get the 40th, other than hoarding reasons.

Basically going to quit this  impulse buying.

Sorry man! Understand about the 40th, I did kind of impulse buy it too, BUT I don't have a gold pan of any kind, and I've been kicking myself to 10 years because I didn't get a 30th. Once I finish the team car I'll start the 40th.

  6. Absolutely zero reason. It was a very popular model for them, it was a favorite of club racers too, as well as the fox before the rc10, Ultimas, and JRX2 took over.

I'm deeply disappointed in Tamiya at this point. They have a catalog of pre 100 cars that theybtill haven't rere'd that would make us happy, and would be a success for them.

Tamiya has licensed numerous Porsches , so no reason not to do 959 or celica. They did the Super astute, let's get the OG, and why no falcon or Kingcab?

The rere is an established part of the rc genre now, one which they started.  Kyosho, AE, Schumacher, and now Yokomo are just killing it and Tamiya just keeps making TFs and Avantes. SMH.

I looked on RC10talk and some motors have the Yokomo stamp on end bell and others don’t. Possibly earlier motors were Yok? Not sure of the time line.

I think yokomo provided endbells for multiple motor manufacturers. I have an old speed gem and Joel Johnson motors with yokomo endbells. Nothing special about them.

  8. Great build! It's crazy how much money the Juggs, TXTs, and TXT2 demand.  I purchased a Jugg2 in the fall of 2023 (I need to finish that build thread!!!) and it was 650 minus the wheels and tires.

I went a similar path with the shocks, bought 8 RC4wd internal spring shocks, they look great but there isn't enough dampening, truck still pogos a little , it's not as planted as my cold with 8 hicaps.

I didn't glue my wheels and tires for 2 reasons. 1 the Jugg wheel and tire are under rare and I don't want to ruin them, and 2 the spinning of the tires in the wheels add a kind of slipper clutch effect which will save your axles .

Looking fwd to the rest of this thread. Nice work!

I had thought the can or end bell was marked "Yokomo" but I just checked and there are no markings apart from the blue and chrome AE label.  There's also no reference to Reedy anywhere on the motor so I'm not sure who made them.  I will post the question over on RC10talk.com.

Anyway, AE and Yokomo were allies in those early days so it's possible the kit motor came for Yok.

IIRC, Yok team drivers competed with RC10's in 2wd and AE team drivers competed with Yoks in 4wd.  The agreement didn't last however.

Didn't A# Sell YZ10s in AE boxes for a few years? Who started building theirs?

Everyone wanting to save their 40th chassis, Amain is selling the CC chassis set. I'm pretty sure all the parts will transfer to it?.

Yep direct swap, I just really like the gold. Ive got a beat up black team car chassis I could use but Ive got plans for that one!

^ I'm thinking about getting an undertray from TBG

I just dont want to risk, IM going to drive it that way its supposed to, I dont want to bend it due to a crash etc.  Once all of these get built Im going to conduct a comparison between the Astsute and the 40th, the Team car and the DS. They will be driven!

  12. Just received my 40th.  Chassis number 1214!  The chassis wont see use, Ill be using an older OG/Classic chassis for it. Whichever I can find.  Just ordered (3) HW Just Stock 10.5 combos. One for the DS, one for this, and one for the Team Car Build.

^ Not sure on the Clear manual, I wasn't interested in ordering that one. I guess I need a motor, too. I wasn't prepared for this, this quickly! I do have some Camel Yellow paint which might look the part.

Recommendations for a cool vintage brushed motor are welcome, please!

Edit to add: I clicked on the manual link, and see this among some gingerbread BS: "The instruction manual will be in this
    location when it becomes available."

Huh?!? The manual isn't ready? This is a joke, right? I hope I'm missing something, lol. Off to search . . .

AE has everyother manual online, search up the 30th or the OG.

Looking forward to hearing your perspective on parts quality.  I know that was an issue on the last run.

The clear one I know has issues due to the material, I thought the 30th was gtg , and it was just the top shaft on the worlds which AW replaced???

But yes will give a quick here's what I think . Once everything I need to build it arrives I'll put in a build thread

  15. Supposedly my RC10 is on its way today. I'll for sure open, maybe build the sub assemblies, ie the gear box, shocks, and suspension arms. I'm going to search eBay for an OG gold chassis and nose piece with some road rash in order to preserve the 40th chassis as this will be used. Ahhh can't build anything! Well I can build the shocks. I e ordered ball bearing for it .
