I hear electric versions will be coming out
That would be sweet. However, there is just something about the site, sound, and smell of a screaming 1/8 car!! Im loving mine. And with updates it is the perfect vehicle to get my hands dirty in the club racing seen. Well, as long as the team guys stay away!

[topic=Pics added
]Pics added[/topic]I find it funny that I keep finding myself in the same situation. When I was stationed in California it took me over two years to find revelation raceway! After a couple deployments I’ve found myself in SC and again it took me over a year to find an off-road track.
I have been wanting to purchase the TRF801xt since it was released, but I couldn’t justify the cost when I had nowhere to run it. Well I have a place to run it now! So I purchased one. I’m not a racer by any stretch of the imagination, but I’ve out grown my REVO and I’m just wasting money throwing parts at it to make it do things it wasn’t designed to do. I purchased an 801xt. I purchased a scratch and dent model from Tamiya USA for 250 US. There wasn’t a mark on the box and all the contents were perfect. Well not perfect, I had a drive shaft that wasn’t reamed correctly and a steering post with the same issue. A call to Tamiya had the new parts to me (at my cost grrr) in three days. I’m told that when I send the defects back I’ll get refunded, fair enough.
I outfitted the truck with a LRP .28 spec 3, they cost only 167 and I was afraid that I’d be getting what I paid for. I was wrong, this thing is a beast! I don’t need an Italian special with peaky power delivery and small life time. The LRP was a little tough to get broken in, but after 7 tanks, some curse words, and patience I now have a screaming torque laden beast.
The rumor mill is that the truck is discounted in price now because there is an update on the way (no not the one with the shorter arms). Better for us poor folks! If I get good enough Ill enter a club race, Im betting that she can still prove to be worthy after two years.
Best of all, I now have a place to drive my EVO and DS, with brushless power they fly!!!!
PICS, when I get home from the office.

I'm sure its been asked but will parts be available for the Avante?
I'd like to get the CVD shafts and the updated metal hub carriers for my Egress.
Yes, all of what you are looking for are available on stealerbay.
-
Jus as the title asks. I havent purchased one yet but Im wondering, and im sure many others are, just how is the old/new girl is holding up to the abuse?
-
EBAY is your friend.
-
The mantaray and TF springs will not work because of their different diameter, Ive tried. Yes the springs by themself are hard ot get, purchase the entire set as I did from Ebay.
-
Tamiyadan is spot on accept just one thing, the prop shaft mount is shorter on the Avante due to its shorter wheel base.
-
The manual shows a round flat motor spacer labled as motor plate I do not have. The motor mount plate is there. Hey it seams the re-re Avante will be great for my rebuild and for many others. When do you think suppliers will start to list spares or break down Avante 2011 kits for sale as spares? Anyone?
There are tons of rere parts on the bay right now, only thing that isnt rere that you might need are suspension arems, although I never broke mine. Gearbox parts etc are on the bay now. It looks like you have the uber rare Egress only front shock tower, yellow springs, and front shock mounts so you are good to go there.
-
PS
You stated that a motor plate was needed, your pictures show that the motor plate is there.
-
I think 94eg can probably answer that, my Egress parts are 20,000 km away from me at the moment...

NOPE 0 difference, same exact part, back in the day when you cold purchase an Avante graphite kit it came with everything!!!! Egress style rod ends, blue 8mm plastic conectors, longer prop shaft out put for the front gear box, rear shock tower, front and rear suspension arms, and the extra aluminum posts needed to support the upper deck. I had oe once NIB, used it to make a poor mans Egress from a broken Vanquish. Therefore everything you need for your restoration is now available, Tamiya is even rere the titanium screws although some are a little longer due to the thicker modern chassis. Id say that an Egress with the newere stronger plastics and aluminum hubs from the Avante wold be a great, fast, and strong runner. Good luck!!!

No posts in two days? Im guessing all you lucky ones out there are building.

I would like to get two Avante kits, one to build and another to keep NIB. For this reason I want to get them from somewhere where they're going to arrive in perfect condition. There is a note on Stella's site saying that the boxes have creases and the blister packs are split. Is this something that is unique to the kits from Stella or are they all like this? Who do people recommend for good packaging? It would be nice to be able to buy the kits from a shop here in the UK, but so far the only price I have seen is £449!!
I know its difficult, but if you want a prestine box be patient and order it through your local hobby shop. If the box comes jacked up, dont pay for it.
-
Hey guys congrats on your kits. Those of you in the good old USA who ordered from the UK or other what was the total cost including shipping?
-
Have any of you from good old USA ordered a kit from the UK or Japan? If so was there a savings? Ie the kit was 360 but was chsarged 100 in shipping?
-
Have any of you followed the build on
http://www.rcracer.com/off-road-electric-a...iya-avante-2011
"They" just finished and the builder say..."It really is staggeringly beautiful". I would have to agree, after 22 years the car is still a show stopper. Its going to be fun to see her on the track again, there really isnt a car more beautiful.

What a dilema, do I spend the 450 I save on the Avante that Ive been waiting for since my original in 1989 or use the 450 for a M1918 Barrel for my BAR build that just poped up on Gunbroker that Ive been waiting for the past year?
Why am I envolved in expensive hobbies?????? And the GF is talking about Marriage and Valentines......

first the new kit doesn't come with the ball diffs and torque splitter so i have a set to install.
I'm going back to the original style Drive Axles the CVDs can stay in the box.
I have a set of rubber covers for the ball joints to install.
and i have a box of old parts to compare the new ones to.
the C parts (that s u c k) seem to be the same as before, i'm going to switch them to aluminum aftermarket.
Tamiya sorta screwed up here, they beefed up the original part that wasn't too bad, and left the plastic part that always broke alone.
and of course the duraluminum cnc machined front parts are being replaced for originals.
Also a set of reproduction original decals so i can Fix up the license issues on the 2011 re-release.
the kits in my neck of the woods are 460$ a pop
NIB as the hop up box hasnt been open since it left the shelf in 1988-1990 geeeeeez.
-
What ever you choose to do put me down for 2 sets.
Just want to run my new D/S. Didn't want it broken on my shelf.
Keep up the good work.
OK who is making these, and how do I purchase? I need a good 2wd runner to go with my EVO and 2011 Avante?? How do I order?
-
Dan what vintage Hop-Ups have you gone for out of interest?
Well I have the ball dif and one way set up new in box, a set of titanium rods new in box, and will order the NEW titanium screws prior to build.
-
I think some individuals have misunderstood me. Is the Avante as good as Tamiya's new 5xx series of belt and shaft driven 4wd's, no. What Im saying is that the Avante has the basics that make a good and fun car to run at the CLUB level, it always had but back in the day the materials weren’t as strong and the cars limited suspension travel, weight, and bumpy tracks didn’t help it. The 2011 has newer materials that can only be stronger, the limited suspension travel isn’t as much a hindrance due to smoother tracks, and the weight problem can be solved by the horse power that brushless provides. The combination of available one ways (ebay), ball diffs (ebay), titanium screws and rods (ebay) add to the cars tuning potential. Now the car is pretty to look at and a little better to run than before.

Honestly, why is everyone even complaining? This kit's re-release goes to show that anything in possible. We should all be happy and not complain about these minor details. This is probably my last re-re (I can officially check it off my bucket list) but it will be interesting to see what Tamiya has in store for us.
chassis
People always complain, and they do not realize what an effect they have. Case in point, when VW finally started to produce a real GTI and GLI on the MKIV as anniv models it had huge rear vented breaks, the side efect was that they made a quiet howling like noise when the casr was in reverse. So the next gen had skinny non vented rear discs.
Stop complaining and enjoy the fact that the Avante is back, I mean seriously its back, who'd a thought!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We are not talking about the materials used 22 years ago, there are enough re-release hotshots and boomerangs with brushless motors. I think this 2011 Avante will be strong enough tp compete against the modern ugly cars found today!

...and Ill try, even if im bouncing off the barriers cause Im just not that good

-
The 2011 Avante is going to be a fun car, and it appears that Tamiya has put some thought into it. Exhibit A modern size wheels included, Exhibit B nice thick Graphite Chasis, Exhibit C modern shocks painted Gold, and Exhibit D Titanium screws. Will the car be as good as the new shaft 5xx car, no. However, for about the same parice Ill have a better looking car (subjective I know), Ill enjoy buildig the Avante alot more, and with brushless motivation it will be fast enough to not be embarrased at club tracks. This is what RC cars was all about, nice looking cars that were fun to build and fun to drive! I bet with a driver alot better than me an Avante could find its self in a few A mains at local tracks. And remember twitch is just another word for responsive

-
The odds of Tamiya Re-Reing any of their first 100 cars are very good. With the Avante and the SRB's Tamiya put to rest the , what if the molds are destroyed, or it will be to expensive, will compete with new cars yadayadayada. Give it time, and if we are lucky the car we want will come out while we are still in the Hobby.
