  1. I’m not sure of the wheel base. I do t actually have it yet. It’s for sale on eBay. I may have used the wrong word. I think I said chassis in my last post where I meant shell. The wild Willy bump and go- isn’t a remote control car. It’s a toy that I think just goes on it’s own and bumps into walls and turns around, but the shell can be removed. I was thinking maybe I could put the shell on a different base.
  2. Has anyone ever tried using the top shell from the wild Willy bump and go toy and converting it to an rc? I was thinking I might try. I’m not sure if anyone knows a different cheap car that might have a base that would fit under that toy chassis????
  3. Ha! Yeah, my brothers and I got rc cars for Christmas in 1982! Lol… it was a big present for sure! And, my parents were both teachers, so you know they weren’t making any money! I’m also a teacher now btw… so this will break my bank as well! Lol
  4. Thank you. I got the same advice from another member who I was emailing with. I’m going to take the advice and go ww2. Thanks!
  5. So, when I was a kid growing up in the 80’s my parents bought my brothers and me three cars. The wild Willy for me, wild one for one brother, and the hornet for the other. We loved them. When we left for college the cars were already collecting dust in my parent’s basement. A little over a decade ago, a man came by to fix some plumbing and saw the cars. He offered my father $100 for each car. My father called us, and it seemed like a good deal, so we said sure. Just a year ago or so, my sons started getting into rc cars and I showed my youngest boy a wild willy just like I had, and he loved it. I started looking for one online, and couldn’t find one anywhere. Even on eBay, there only seem to be broken not running etc. I was wondering if anyone had one, or knew someone who had one, that might be willing to sell. I know they are not cheap! Ideally, I’d be looking for a box art painted one, like I had as a kid. We didn’t build them as kids, my parents must’ve had them assembled at the hobby shop or something. We were too young for that back then. Anyway, anyone who has any ideas, please let me know. Thank you!
  6. Thanks for the encouragement. I’ll definitely give it some thought! With two young boys and a full time job, it might be difficult to find the time! But, I can see how it would be a lot of fun for us and we would learn a lot. I’m most intimidated by the painting part! Thanks again for the advice. I can see that this site would be/ will be a resource! Thanks!
  7. Thanks for the response! I have seen a few of those kits on eBay. I was hoping to find one that is assembled and painted. Putting one together and painting seems like a daunting task! My son is pretty artistically inclined, but painting a model and figuring out how to pair it with the necessary components to get it to work; remote control etc. that seems difficult! Thank you again for your reply. If anyone knows of any for sale, complete, please let me know. Again, I’m a school teacher- so I’m not exactly rolling in money! I’d be looking to spend somewhere in the neighborhood of $200. And again, I’m kinda out of touch when it comes to this stuff, so I don’t know if that’s a realistic expectation. Thanks again... again
  8. Hello, i recently bought my son his first starter rc car (a 1/18 deerc) and he loved it, only once I started showing him pictures of my old Wild Willy, he set his mind on trying to get one. (I wish I knew what happened to mine!). My son is 9, So he doesn’t exactly have the money to purchase one! I’m a school teacher in South Carolina so I don’t exactly have the money to help too much! Lol... does anyone have one that they might be willing to part with for a reasonable price? Maybe somewhere in the two hundred dollar range? I’m sure the original WW is a lot more, but I thought maybe the WW2 would be close? Or am I out of touch? Thank you! Steve
