Here we go everyone!! Lunchbox hits the Orchard Raceway today with the Grasshopper firmly in its sights! Will it beat the time from the GH of 8.87??
This Lunchbox has some lovely hop ups and a 21T motor pumping out the big ones to get it moving…. Problem might be keeping those front wheels on the ground 😁

Just enjoyed reading this build.
I had exactly the same thing happen to the layshaft. I think there is something off in the build or it is far to easy to get it wrong. Pro transmission and slipper has sorted mine out too and I can't wait to put some hard laps in this summer with her.
Can't wait to hear how you get on in September.

@OoALEJOoO it is one of my favourite custom paint schemes. Very fitting to the era! Thanks for watching pal 🙌🏻

Thanks Stef. This one was from back at the start of that adventure! Still going and still making it out on the track!

While the Frog is not technically a hopper it fits better with these cars in this class.
The action starts next week with the Grasshopper first out the door.-

The Orchard is back for another season of RC time trials. First group of cars have been recorded and are in the can.
Thought you might enjoy seeing the track layout for this year. Apologies for those who were watching along and missed last years finale. I will do a better job at keeping up this year.
Cars are back into groups and a simple fastest lap wins for 2024. Final will be made up with the fastest car from each group.
Hoppers - Grasshopper, Frog, Lunchbox, Mad Bull
Retro 2WD - Ultima, Madcap, Raider, Cougar
Modern 2WD - DT03, DT02, Rising Fighter, TD2
Retro 4WD - Hotshot, Thunder Dragon (2023 Winner), Top Force Evo, Optima Mid, TL01B
Modern 4WD - TT02B (2022 Winner), DF03, XV01, TT02 Rally Spec
All cars get 10 laps to impress in the heats before we move onto a 30 lap finale later in the year.
Hope you all enjoy following along this year!

Hi all,
I have build a Madcap Super Astute hybrid monster which is missing a front brace from the G Part Tree from the Super Astute.
Several google searches have turned me blanks so I am now looking for some community support. I ran the Madcap Astute Hybrid last year and thankfully it help up but the backyard track has a small jump for 2024 and I am worried that the front will just cave in without support.
Here is the project completed.
And one showing the missing front brace (I was working on the front shocks at the time.
Any help would be appreciated!
Thanks
Craig

I have a M05 knocking about which I need to move on if you are interested

Hi David,
Great idea for a race series and I can’t wait to see it!
Wouldn’t it be great to get the Ultima up there? I am sure you will see lots of DMs and Genovas and the Ultima would surely give them all a run for their money?
Shame the DN01 is out of production as that would be epic!
Can’t wait to see what you do

@OldSchoolRC1 thanks for the great post pal.
Now were you rallying with the low ride kit?? I have been considering if this would help keep the chassis a little lower and improve the handling a little??
Worrying to hear that you had to back it down to a silver can as I am going to struggle to keep up with the big boys and their faster motors!
Sounds like I will have some suspension tuning to do!Thanks for the inspiration dude 🙌🏻

@OoALEJOoO great post fella! Thanks for the advice and notes on your build.
It looks great and is exactly what I am hoping to achieve. Good to know you had fun with the silver can so I am hoping a little more punch from the brushless system will make it cover some ground quickly!
Ultimately I just want to beat Mark and his XV01 😂

@Juggular this was a great post pal! I am going to open up the diffs and pack them with AW grease.
I was not aware of the spacer mod so will have a good look at that also.
Good to know my brushless motor will give enough punch to have some rally fun.
Thanks for all your advice pal 🙌🏻

@TamiyaD Exactly what I am looking to do…. Anyone know how they did it?? If mine looks and handles like that I will be chuffed!

@TurnipJF I was looking at that this evening. Good to know it can work. It looked like it might be too big when I was researching earlier 👍🏻
-
@Sogogi I am going to have to have a few runs to see how much of a problem this is going to be for me. Will be a shame if that is the show stopper
-
@ChrisRx718 thanks for the advice on the body pal. I will get on the hunt for those but I worry they might be tricky.
I will start looking at the steering set up and see what after market parts I can find.
My issue is going to be making something broadly competitive against the dedicated rally chassis the boys will have in the summer. I always think it is fun to bring something different to the table 🙌🏻

Hello fellow Tamiya Club members,
I have been working on an idea for the last few months and I am struggling for ways of making it work. I am reaching out to you guys for some ideas and perhaps someone out there has done this already and can provide some expert advice.
My YouTube buddy Mark Bryan is getting some of us together this summer for some rally action. While I have a XV01 to take to the rally party I would really like to turn up with something different.
I have a CC01 crawler which I have not really been getting much use out of. I would like to turn it into a rally chassis. I have seen some examples of Dakar style bodies so any recommendations on where I could source something like that from would be great.
But the real challenge is what to do to the chassis in order to make it rally worthy. I am worried that the chassis will roll easily so I assume I will need to play about with the suspension set up a little. Any ideas on what to do with this? I have some springs to add to the model to alter the suspension set up. What about weight distribution? Would you put some extra weight into the model somewhere?
One of the diffs is locked but do I need to lock both diffs for rally or would I be better off with them unlocked?
Power wise I have a 15.5T Tamiya brushless motor to use in the model. Should provide plenty of punch and great battery life. Do you think the gearbox will hold up? Will I overpower the chassis?
I am debating tyres and wheels. I have some options which I will detail in later posts. But does anyone have any recommendations? Has anyone done this before?
Loads of questions and I guess the proof will be in the trying won’t it!! I am starting to play around with the chassis next month so any suggestions would be great and I will log my progress on this thread and on my YouTube channel.
Thanks in advance for any feedback on my project.

I am liking all the thoughts about TD2/TD4 models.
I really would like to see a rerelease of the Super Astute. But I would also be very happy if Tamiya put another Zahhak production run together.
I can’t help but feel that this year might be a little light on new releases.

Another brilliant topic 🙌🏻
I really enjoyed following your content before and will also enjoy this.
The Group C chassis is a beast. I got to drive one a few months back and was impressed by the speed of that chassis on the Sport Tuned.
Keep up the awesome content 🙌🏻-

9 hours ago, Kol__ said:Ah I see, yeah I have a similar stash of parts in my build box, as does @Misterp180 I believe👍😎
I have the Tamiya big bores in my Dyna Storm and they are amazing. That said, I do rate Tamiya CVA's in general, I think they're great for what they are!👍
My DB01 build has a lot of lovely parts for it! I think I am getting close to being done though as things are getting harder and harder to find. You watch Tamiya do another run as we start to build @Kol__

Orchard Raceway Season 4 (The OAG RC)
in General discussions
Posted
Final Orchard Raceway runner in the Hopper Class is the Tamiya Mad Bull.
I love this buggy with massive tyres and some CVA shocks on my model. Can it dethrone the Frog at the top of the Hopper Leaderboard??
