For me, it is generally seasonal - I mean look, it is fishing and hunting season now; actually I am leaving in two days for a 12 hour trip to hunting and fill in the static time fishing - will I be thinking about RC'n; not a chance. In the summer I am busting Clay's, but there is idle time in-between those days and that is when my RC'n really starts to get more active. Bottom line is - I have an addictive personality and it don't take much to shift me, that is why I stay away from drugs!

I lived in Omaha - well, Ralston, but that got sucked up by Omaha. Ran all through that part of the world - from Grand Island to the "Arm Pit of Omaha" / Council Bluffs, IA ) South to KS and North to SD.

Dude - that is a long way from Tulsa, Oklahoma; USA.

I used clear FlexTape - I am telling ya, it worked great, pliable, flexable (duh), and sticky. I taped the outside first with the blue painters tape to get the lines to match up and then used the FlexTape on the inside - worked like a champ.

You can try CA-glueing a wooden toothpick into the hole and then try again.
Also - it is a little more time consuming but, fill the hole with a JB Weld mix and once it is dry, drill it back out, metal screws going into plastic should be self-tapping.

Currently just one - it is a Chevy S10 on a TA02T Chassis.

I am pretty new to RC'n but I like vintage in a lot of venues. I like to keep stuff original or replace, when necessary, with factory original pieces. When I get this TA02T done, I will likely drive it, nicely, until the new battery has met its life span, then retire it. But, will have it to where all I need to do is add battery and go. If I ever see an RC Show (like a car show) to attend, I'd take it ready and rolling - I just never see them anywhere, maybe no one does anything like that.

Are these bodies made of Lexan - or maybe more specifically, how to fix tears in the body?

I am missing the inner rear hub nuts and pins - which I have ordered them online from Hong Kong, but they are blue ones, also ordered some missing screws, and washers - we'll see if they ever show up, may have been a monetary donation. The red inner nuts and pins are somewhere in that attic, I am confident - because he'd have had to had them to operate it. Not sure what possessed him to take it apart, but he did. I am missing, and cannot find, the brass step down bushing for the rear upper shock mount, Tamiya assembly number MC6 and Tamiya part number 19804471 - if anyone has one in their parts bin, I'd try to make a deal. Other than that, if my Hong Kong parts ever arrive, I should be able to get this dude running.

In my intro post I must have mentioned something about using marine grease on the gears and one of you suggested I remove it and use a synthetic grease, so I did that today. However, on the front main gear where it is metal gears inside, I did mix the synthetic and marine grease to make it a medium thickness lubricant.

Not sure if that is TA0 (zero) or O (letter) I believe it is numeric.
Anyway - I kind hit on this project in my intro but I will start a new thread just for it. I found this in my attic, it was my son's; along with several other RC's. this past summer he said "toss it all, old stuff" but I didn't. Instead I have ended up breathing life back into them, or at least close; many older ones and some parts and pieces are hard to find. This particular one is a Chevy S10 TA02T Chassis. Attached are a few pictures of how I found it. The camo stuff is duct tape from body damage.

Hello WideOpen, read you had some RC boats, Nitro?
I haven't in a while but learned a great deal on electrics at OSE(Off Shore Electrics) started with a Pro-Boat Stiletto and the rest came, 18 later, some ARTR, some kits, some remodeled, oh and one submarine, i never got into gas or nitro, do love the sounds and smells. i did have a Kyosho ABS hull in the 80's ran a Trinity Monster brushed motor with my Makita stick batteries, those days are long gone.
Well have fun on this site. i know it's one of the greatest forums in Webdom.
Yes, it is a Nitro Boat. I do also have an electric one, but the Nitro, I need the recoil for it - otherwise it is a shelf queen.

One item I need that I cannot find, is on the top mount of the rear shock - that little stepdown brass bushing

Welcome to TC @WideOpen, great to have you.
Your post seems pretty RC-related... not sure why you decided to put it in the "Anything not RC related goes here" section
ya, it was intended to be an intro for myself and I ended up gabbing about RC stuff.

One thing I did but wish I hadn't done was used some RC Marine grease on the gears - think that is a big deal?

Welcome WideOpen, sounds like your attic is a treasure trove!
If you need random bits and pieces be sure to post up a thread or even ask in this one, you might be surprised as what people have stashed away.
Right On - let me see what actually comes in the mail from the Hong Kong site. Thanks.

Not sure if there is an intro thread or not - didn't see one. I am a member at a different RC site. When I joined it earlier this year I only knew the RC word "Traxxas", because I bought my grandson a Stampede for Christmas a couple years ago. Well he wanted someone to run with him and I did not have one. However earlier this year we were going through old crap laying around and in the attic I dig out my oldest sons Traxxas monster truck, a T-Maxx Classic 2.5. That is when I joined a forum to gain some knowledge. Well I got that froze up engine running tweaked and adjusted and she runs like a champ. Then we were going to the lake and I bought the grandson an electric boat. Then I recalled my oldest son had a boat in the attic as well. Its a Kyosho, Nitro Viper GT, .16 engine - which I need a recoil for BTW. That engine was froze up too, but it is ready to run once I find that stupid recoil for it hint...hint.....ended up digging out a couple others, an electric and another Nitro. Then lo and behold I grab a bag and it is just full of parts and pieces, all took apart. So I start looking at the puzzle pieces and it is a TA02T with the S10 body. I have it almost ready to roll, but I need just a few pieces I could not find. I ordered a couple I could find online but need to keep sniffing around for a couple smalls. Anyway - off on a 4-day fishing trip tomorrow with work buddies; but, I will return. Just thought I'd say hey - so, hey.
