  1. Brilliant. Now go out and test it and start loving it. I have ran mine today on wet tarmac and it was a ton of fun. (I gave the normal Pro and it's focused on loose conditions, though).
  2. I would buy something to either equip or fix up. For me that means a Tamiya (or a Kyosho). All my rally cars have come to me that way. All of them as far as one (that also was advertized as a fixer upper) were solid cars only needing electronics and the upgrades I would want to put in.
  3. It's Friday again. This week has been really stressful with loads of stuff going on related to the school and kids. Only positive, so nothing dramatical, but something has happened almost every afternoon/evening. Today nothing happens, so if I am able to leave early I would make the second and last attempt on the current Endurance Postal Racing course. This time with the Carten. I changed the damaged spur and rear drivecup for the propshaft yesterday and fitted a new pinion, so it should be back again now. Tomorrow the whole family is going out on a restaurant, so that's gonna be nice. This is the first time we are out alltogether for a while. On Sunday it's gonna be more demolishing for me. Now the bathroom on the ground floor and the room next to it is up. If it's any time left it's plenty of gardening to do. Have a nice weekend, folks.
  4. Hehe. @Kpowell911. You should try an XV-01. Then we are talking tight. And with 12 AWG wires it's even worse. I mounted my RX vertically on the right sidepod. Then it's out of the way and so far less exposed for moist/snow. I have a 10BL120 without the fan though. Edit: I could have turned the RX 90 degrees and saved more space, but then I would have to have tape only on the upper half to be able to remove the sidepod with little effort. (And yes. The wiring will be tidied up at one day I feel for it. Now it's just ben thrown together, because I was eager to test it and it's just stayed that way, because it works).
  5. Well said @Juggular. For no nonsense, simple life the ST or TT with a 1060 is my go to choice. That said I have also been happy with the cheap Yeah Racing Hackmoto 23t with the timing set almost at maximum. Then they feel almost at SS level and with the hard brushes they last long. The motors are so cheap (3 for one SS here), so I get 2 at the time, so I have less downtime. You get a long way with sandpaper wrapped around a file, but when the comm is unround that's not good enough. You'll see it when there is more sparks than usual in the motor and the brushes don't last long. I have now got a lathe, so I am looking forward to get my motors OK again. Especially my SS TZ needs the comm cut now. It's had a hard life in the Thunder Dragon in unclean environment. All this said I prefer sensored brushless in my day to day runners like rally cars and M-chassis. Allthough brushed worked fine at a low cost at some point it's nice to not have to worry about the heat.
  6. Clever solution @Re-Bugged. I originally thought about running shorty in mine, but the weight difference compared to the electronics on the other side was too much for me to feel well. The brick was out of the question because making the weight balance off the other way around. The previous owner also had lost the rear battery bracket and retainer, so when I stumbeled over a slim line lipo with perfect weight at a bargain price I grabbed it - and that's how you end up with a load of lipo batteries in different sizes....
  7. Hehehehe. All in all it's good that you both got the small grey to work and an improvement came out of it. It's a never ending work in progress anyway .
  8. Here is mine with a LP servo. It's 1,8cm grom the servo horn up to the cover. Without foam and cover, with cover and with cover and foam. Ideally I'd like to have it cut more snug, like chris.alex has done, but it came second hand like this, so I just made pieces of foam to fill it up as good as I could.
  9. Is the servo saver almost up in the cover? It looks like that. I am thinking if people want to add foam to try to keep the debries out. I have filled the empty space there with foam on mine, but I have a LP servo. BTW here in N Dualsky servos are really cheap and the ones I have in the XV-02 and winter XV-01 are fast enough. No need to get a no name from the other side of the world when you can get a Dualsky in maximum 2 days. I get 2,5 Dualsky for one Power HD B7 or 2 Dualsky for one Savox 1252.
  10. Good to see it's back again. Fingers crossed that it stays a reliable runner- which it probably will do wuth normal, grown-up running .
  11. Aha. I didn’t see them. Yes they are.
  12. Congrats. Excellent decition. If you struggle finding the Tamiya rims under the wide Killerbody JC Racing have various design rally wheels (also in gorgeous gold/copper) with 5mm offset.
  13. Nicely executed. That must be a Super G Evo .
  14. @MadAnt. Looking forward to that update. These wheels are really tasty on these cars. Icarsa modern take on the classic design allowing us to run modern tyres while looking the business.
  15. Hehe. It must be like that. Everyone who has heard a B&M blower is marked for their lives . The Tamc-024 is something I want, but I have only seen it mentioned at RC Kleinkram, but have yet to see it in a webshop- even YR Racing themselves don't have it. I think it must be down to the well known global shortage of rocking horse poo.
  16. Just got this old, very cheap comm lathe in the mailbox. It's nice to be able to fix up the Superstock motors in a better way.
  17. One thing more: The RS comes without the chassis cover.
  18. As far as I know that should sum it up, yes.
  19. There is the normally cheaper XV-02 Pro as well with taller ground clearance. The thing is that the RS pro has the stiffer reinforced chassis and I think you get the taller shock towers on the sprue of the RS Pro, so it's simple to convert the RS Pro for both applications than the Pro. You simply get more of the good stuff with the RS Pro. Normally the normal Pro is a good bit cheaper, so this offer is really good as I see it.
  20. That's a seriously good price for the RS. Everyone in the UK thinking about getting a rally car can easily pull the trigger now. The XV-02 is the future (even though I love my XV-01) and this is even the better one of them.
  21. @Re-Bugged. PS: You should try the Yeah Racing sealed gear diff and 3racing fast gear set (I got 3 of them, to ensure the first one doesn't break ). Yes, it hurts that it is one tooth too small, but the far more consistent diff makes up for it. I did not have 500k oil as suggested as a starting point by RC Kleinkram, so I took what I had: 30k with a blob of 1mill until it felt right. The whining noise you get will suit the JCW shell. It's the same noise the first gen 1:1 New Mini Cooper S gets when you run a toothed belt on the supercharger .
  22. The JCW Mini looks brilliant. And good to see it's able to accomodate full size TC wheels. You should try the grippier tyres on the rear. That calms it down a lot. The rest is throtle control. Trying to always apply enough throtle so the wheels just spin a little and most power gets transformed into motion. After a winter of rallying and running 380 I need to find back to that techniqe. Starting the tarmac season with the M-05 has worked good for me until now. For me seeing a certain body is very psycological. When I see a body I assosiate it with a certain driving style. The Impreza body was used for endurance last year. After I got the winter XV-01 I ran the white Lancia on it, but since the non planned XV-02 turned up it needed a temporary body, so the Impreza went on the winter XV-01. Now using it for endurance again is hard. I am now used to it beeing on a way more slidable chassis and beeing much harder on the throtle out of corners and wreck it into corners. This is very visible while running the MST LTX tyres ,but the Ride slicks seem to cover that up. All this would find a solution when I get into it again and each chassis gets it's own body.
  23. Bravo. A very tasty mod @GToddC5.
  24. I put on a new set of Ride slicks today and used two shorties put all the way back in the compartment. Now we're talking. The good feeling is coming back, the grip is far better and the improvement was a wopping 39 laps inkludert a roll by marker 2 (but landed on the wheels and could just keep on). Now at least I have a decent result. This time I see the wear is hardest on the left rear wheel. RC Maritime still has these wheels for a good price, so I should just grab a few of them.
  25. @Re-Bugged Congrats with what I expect to be a great kit. A nice and good looking 2WD buggy, to remind of old times, but in a package for us grown-ups. I am and have been on the fence with the Dirtmaster since it came out. Now that the Tomahawk is downgraded (and I like it) I am looking for the right time and reason to grab a Dirtmaster to gave a capable and fast 2WD buggy again.
