  1. First nearly full attempt today. It's like a greek antiqu theatre, where the same actor played multiple roles just holding different masks before the face. Like that I put the Impreza body on top of the XV-01 (non winter) and had a blast. A few things are clear. I am seriously rusty after the winter. I have ran more times per week, but not anywhere near as fast as this and all the 380 running has done the throtle control no good. There was a lot of dust on the surface, so not a lot of grip. The inner front wheel would spin in some corners, so the tyrewear there is severe. I rotaded the wheels at the pit stop (over 3 minutes) and concluded that I would try the well worn slicks next time. No reason to wear out a good set of MST LTX when the grip is probably no better than with the slicks. The 5000mAh brick was not up to it this time, so with 1,5 min to go I reached the end. I thought about running two shorties, like I mostly do, but the last times before the winter I just used the brick and thought it would be enough. All in all a fun experience, but I am looking forward to warmer weather and running the Carten on decent slicks.
  2. This week I have only ran the Tomahawk. I got a package of various rear tyres last week and am waiting on a package with various front tyres now. On Wednesday I put a fresh set of blue compound cat blocks on the Turbo Scorpion wheels. If I had the choice I would rather had yellow on this car, but I am happy to get a setnof these tyres to begin with. They were superb. Have more grip than the mini spikes, but less grip than the full spikes, and therefore less understeer. Iam happy to finally have sorted the understeer on this car. The diff has only #1000 oil, but with the weak motor and good grip there is no problem with diffing out. The lapcounts were equal of my previous best, but one stint was one lap more distancing the Grasshornet with 2 laps and it's the same result as the XV-02. I also tried the balloon tyres. I have until now don't liked them. The grip while accelerating is good, but there is too much understeer and the soft tyrewall collapses while shifting direction in fast corners. With the weak motor they work just fine, so if I get one of the new front tyres on the 2" wheels I can run them. Iwas not able to get up to the best lapcount though (one lap behind). All in all I'm happy with the result and I am not capable of doing any better on this surface. Now it's drying up and after a few rain showers to wash the salt away it's time to run on tarmac again.
  3. Friday again. The week has just rushet away. The weather has been fine, so I have clocked around 3 hours in all of healthy postal racing with the Tomahawk. It's nice to revitalize the interest for a car, that has been ran too little the last years. Today I hope the plumber gets finished with the bathroom upstairs. Then I think I'll test the bathtub, if not someone else already has done it and emptied the boiler. Tomorrow there is a full day of mandatory but not paid annual first aid course. I don't like working for free, but with the flexibility I have there is no reason to cry too much, so all fine. On Sunday we are gonna start putting the plants, trees and bushes that were temporarily moved for the building of the garage and stone wall in the garden. That's a big job and it's not nearly done in one weekend. Have a nice weekend everyone .
  4. I put cat blocks on 2,2 Turbo Scorpion wheels the other day. Blue compound, so on the healthy Tomahawk they will last a few generations. A little tight, but goes on and I saved myself the glueing.
  5. Lovely and realistic build. I like the Elf livery. Most A110 here are blue (as well as most of the Renault 8 I see as well). I met one last summer on the way to work in blue metallic and orange roof, which instantly inspired my color choice for my Suzuki Swift on my M-05. I ordered the paint for it first thing when I got there. I also gave a story to justify the wrong driven axles for the body: My Carten M210R with a 1973 Porsche 911 RSR body is a 964 C4 that has been backdated. I sleep well with that explanation .
  6. Glad to see Ultra G out in the sun in lovely conditions. Now try some full spikes or cat blocks on the rear. Then I think the grip is sorted (but hope you don't get understeer instead). I have done a load of runs with the Tomahawk this week. Report from that to come.
  7. Chevron for me. I have never got used to the different offset wheels front and rear. It has always disturbed me. These wheels fix it and the Ranger suits such tyres like a glove
  8. Gorgeous little thing. Hope you enjoy it. Iran mine yesterday and it was a pleasure.
  9. Toyolien had sirt of the same challenge in his build a few years ago. He's thread is worth a look https://www.tamiyaclub.com/forum/index.php?/topic/99097-super-duper-hotshot-with-carbon-chassis/
  10. Nice to see the BBX does it's duties and that you utilize a day off for this. As Tamiyastef says it's pretty addictive, when you get the hang on it, are close to make one more lap and fight for two weeks to make it. If you have access to a training field with astro it's nice to drive buggies there. And also get flat markers, so you can cut on the inside without the car getting thrown out of the line or flip. I ran the Grasshornet today and it's already one lap better than the Tomahawk. The conditions were far better when I made the first stint, so the Tomahawk would also have improved if I had brought it.
  11. Hehe. I think it's maybe a male dog thing. The last I had before (also a lab) was just as bad. He once ate my daughters slippers with suede soles. Then he had to undergo a surgery. Was happy to have a good ensurance. I have had one or two labs around me since 1984 and none of them have been anywhere near as bad about this as my last two- even though my first once ate a Pluto beep dog toy when I visited my mother. Probably to secure that my mothers dog not could have it .
  12. On my Tomahawk I have a few questionable screwheads. My cheapo tools haven't made them any better. Before I started working on it this time I got this set. What a change. Even the screws I was worried about went out just like that. So I would try good tools before trying torx in the next size. https://www.elefun.no/vare-60029/verktoy-core-rc-premium-umbraco-set-15-20-25-30mm Good luck and hope this gets sorted without any damage.
  13. Yep, 1m per unit and center to center. Give it a go. It'll be nice to see how your modified Hoppers will do for example.
  14. Here is Sunday and the time scedule goes pants. Here I am at the vet after this little guy chose to eat laundry as a pre breakfast. He is OK now, but this destroyed most of the plans for today.
  15. How much as I love my Grasshornet (basically a Grasshornet with GH 2 front, Hornet rear end with 50519 and 50520 CVA) I have to say it must be the Tomahawk. It's way more capable, goes easy over bumps and feels more planted. Now with the 380 I am finally got rid of the understeer that it used to have. Earlier when both had 540 motors the Grasshornet often made more laps, despite beeing all over the place. The Tomahawk runs JC Racing Ultima Pepper Pots and Schumacher Mini Spikes in yellow on the on the pics, but at some point I'll change for Turbo Scorpion wheels with the same tyres. The 4WD front tyres (which was the only I could get here at the time) sits a lot better on them. All this said: In 2025 and with the current prices for the Legendary Series (here you get the most bang for the bucks with the Optima Pro) I think I would have bought a Dirtmaster. But in 2021 the Tomahawk was the one that reminded me the most of my Kyosho Burns, so it had to be it.
  16. So Friday went and here I am on Saturday. The kids are away, so me and wifey are alone home. Today we're going indian cousine after a heavy shopping round. Tomorrow I plan on starting painting the livingrooms and fill up the trailer again with trash. I am a bit back on it by now, since the backyard has not been accessible the last weeks. Have a nice weekend.
  17. During this week I have made a couple of attempts. I shoveled snow again on Tuesday and ran on Thursday and Friday with the XV-02. That is less prone to bind because of rocks. The frost in the ground is gone and it's getting more and more muddy. The biggest problem is rocks popping up of the ground when the surface gets ripped up by the tyres. Some of them come up and are large enough to scrape the chassis making the car jump or loose contact. Others stay in the ground making the car hook while sliding and getting beaten out of the line. Between the last two markers there are a few of those. This place is a buggy habitat by now, so this was the last attempt with the rally cars. Nevertheless it ended up making 3 laps more in worse conditions than the Tomahawk. Next week I'll go full healthy and only run the Tomahawk and Grasshornet.
  18. Tasty. Are we talking about a coming endurance racing build?
  19. I was able to finally mark up this course on tarmac today. I made the detour and went to the spot I have used the most. I had not planned for this, so I only had the XV-02 on soft rallyblocks. I had made 3 stints on muddy gravel earlier and some free riding on snow, so it was clear that the battery would not be up for the full stint. That was fine, since I didn’t want to wear out the tyres. Just get a feeling for the course. It's been a while since I ran at such speeds the last time. The XV-02 is pretty fast when it gets to stretch its legs and put the power into the surface, so I'll need some time getting used to this again. Nevertheless it was a lot of fun, so I'll give it a go next week with the XV-01 on MST LTX.
  20. @chris.alex. That's a nice and inspiring chassis cover. Iam considering getting a new for my XV-02, as the previous owner has hakkede it more than I like. I understand that you have made a slice in the front to get it over the steering arm. Mine has more or less the full front cut out, so I run with the electronics compartment packed with foam in the front and rear. As long as it's damp it keeps the compartment astonishingly clean, but dust gets in èn masse when it's dry. The Porsche 914 body looks gorgeous on the chassis, but I cannot say anything other than that. When cut after the cut lines that body swallows a lot of wheels.
  21. Edit: Who would think we were going to a new page... @LifeOfBrian. That's a seriously good looking rally car and a clever solution for the mudflaps. The tyres are going in that direction but on the opposite side. Switch left side to right side and you are set.
  22. I have no personal connection to it, but I like the colors and livery. I am the single person who likes it better with the roof .
  23. @GToddC5. I saw it in the other thread earlier. That Striker interpretation looks seriously good! Looking forward to the Bear Hawk tribute.
  24. As Alvinlwh says. My Golf MK1 body is the same on the rear holes. The rear holes on the GH2 body is round and is locking the body from moving lengthwise, so if the front is slightly oval doesn't matter. The bodyclip is wider than the hole and goes 90 degrees in towards the then longer hole. Nothing is gonna move- and the Super Hornet body will keep going on as before .
  25. If it's only a matter of a few mm I would make the front hole in the body slightly longer until it fits. Apply colored chalk on the bodypost and see where the mark of it is on the underside of the body. The hole is in the middle of the number (if box art) and under a bodyclip. The other and more elegant solution is to move the bodypost hole in the chassis a bit backwards. But then you maybe have the problem that the lovely Super Hornet body does not fit anymore.
