  1. It's less likely now that we have got the Hornet Evo, but something like this Hornet IRS from this thread would have been nice. A mid motor Hornet with the right, undiscutable, proportions and a blast from the past. https://www.tamiyaclub.com/forum/index.php?/topic/91718-1985-“worlds”-irs-hornet/
  2. With a little good willing the look like Ronal Kleeblatt, which is a legendary wheel design. But I get your point. It's about time we get some wheels in BBS RS design for starters.
  3. I have no idea, but you probably have a good start with the longer shock towers of the Turbo Scorpion.
  4. It's looking superb, as always. I'm curious to see how you like it with the little motor. Did you put oil in the diff or just grease? I had just AW in mine uptil now. Out of what I had the backbone feeling said 3000, but ended up with 1000 (which I thought would be to drastic to begin with). I expect little wheelspin with this motor, so wanted to trade for more maneurability in curves. With a 540 motor it has felt too understeery on loose surface- it's natural habitat.
  5. Good to see you got to do an attempt. When you get used to the new power in that XV-01 you are gonna get flying. You have something to look forward to for the summer.
  6. Hehe. This is like you are reading my thoughts. Less than 30 minutes ago I was searching to see if I have misses that you have started a build thread about it. Glad to see it's going forward.
  7. Good to read you got through it. It's a pretty drastic thing. All the best for the recovery.
  8. I hope the boiling water and freezer-method works for me as well. I tried silicone last year on Ride slicks and Tamiya M-chassis S grips and it was no success. A week of normal Postal Racing went fine. Already on the first stint of Endurance Postal Racing the fun got to an end and I just used CA instead (and it's silence since then). I'm gonna give silicone a go again the next time a buggy needs new rear tyres.
  9. It turned out really nice. That color goes good together with the grey and chrome details. You can look forward to how it's gonna look outside in bright sunlight.
  10. I think the general consensus is that they should be backed with black. That said it takes some guts to do that. When I painted my HPI Porsche body it took like forever to get sufficient coverage when looking at the underside towards the sun. As I didn’t feel confident that it would have been good enough in the ducktail I just left it. I also had the NSU of Kowalski86 fresh in mind, so simply pulled the handbrake. In hindsight I should have given it a layer of white and then black. It would have been better than nothing.
  11. Nice build. The thoughts go back to the first half of the 90s watching BTCC, STCC and ETCC for hours on Eurosport and SVT. And that nice screaming V6 sound.
  12. I just count myself. Of course it's a big advantage beeing in the middle of nowhere and very seldom get interupted. For normal Postal Racing it works just fine. For Endurance Postal Racing it's sometimes a bit harder. A Lapmonitor is the RC investment for 2025 for me.
  13. Thanks. It's Scorpion wheels with ditto medium rear tyres and Schumacher Cut Stagger low profile in silver on the front. The low effort variant of this would be to run Optima/Javelin wheels with these tyres on the rear to use the everyday 12mm hex-solution Tamiya is offering.
  14. This week the temps rised, the surface got looser and there was no chance to improve. Then I took out the Grasshornet for some healthy Postal Racing, while the Tomahawk is still on the workbench. With a good deal of throtle control it's astonishing how many laps it makes, as long as I'm able to stay within the clean line. One run outside and I can abort the stint. I also took out the Dictator and ran two packs through it, just for old times sake. The turning radius is huge and the servo slow, so it struggles around marker 2. When I got a stint without having to go in reverse it ended up 5 laps behind the Grasshornet with the sporty 380ST. It's now cleaned and put back into the closet again.
  15. Until this week I have had nice, cold weather with superb conditions. I have shoveled off the snow on a large enough area to fit the course. In the beginning there was some snow left, but later it was morenor less snow free. The surface has been frozen, so it's kind of driving on sandpaper. The winter XV-01 has been flying and the XV-02 is 2 laps behind beeing the more challenging ride. I love it when it's like this. You do a pack a day and afterwards the car is almost clean. Just a little snow to blownoff at home while the battery charges up to storage.
  16. According to Siang20 in this thread the tyres fit. They last a while I can say. I got 3 sets of them in 2022 to go on my Grasshornet and I’m still on the first. I only run them on loose surface. https://www.tamiyaclub.com/forum/index.php?/topic/81571-kyosho-legendaries-series-mod/
  17. Yummy. In bright sunlight it's gonna sine like glass anodized aluminum.
  18. I have the same color on a body. The coverage was so poor that I didn’t have the guts to back it with black. I left it as was. After that I have started to back with white if I'm not confident about the coverage before I finish with black. Has worked good so far.
  19. Well, you say something I have thought since I returned to the hobby, but never said to not step on someones feet. Astral dish reminded me of something that could go on a wheelbarrow. I am happy that we have JC Racing, so that's why I run Pepper Pots or Kyosho Scorpion wheels on most of my buggys, apart from the Dragons that run 2,2 Hotshot instead.
  20. A great build so far. Always interresting to see a nice BBX build. I like your front wheels mod.
  21. That's a great looking Dragon. I want to do something like that with my Terra Scorcher (after seeing Cy's TD4 with the Super Hotshot body). I also like that you have boxed in the battery, so it's protected from the flying debries.
  22. It turned out really gorgeous. I like this body solution even better than the original. It feels more Hornet when the body and spoiler is separate.
  23. That's a good decition and I am looking forward to see what you come up with. Iam saying this despite finding the Hornet Evo gorgeous and a good step forward. I wish it was offered when I turned back to the hobby. That would have been a no brainer- and would have been even so impossible to get as a DT-03 was when Norway closed down and suddenly dried up for everything I wanted.
  24. After seeing the full 53 minutes of Kyosho Scorpion chassis racing with 380 motors the other day I took my Tomahawk apart and rebuilt the diff and gearbox. I have until now used grease in the diff, but now have oil in it. I first had 3000 oil in it, but changed for 1000 in the end. The diff is smooth, but goes a bit heavier around than what I am used to, so felt better with 1000 oil. It's gonna be driven by a 380, so not much torque to handle anyway. I want it to corner smoothly, so the diff needs to be more open than it used to be. After loads of turning and a night with the cover facing down it’s still not leaking, so looks promising.
  25. Which reminds me of that we always said that a Nikko looks like a TV on the inside BITD .
