Congrats to TurnipJF with the win. And thanks to you for organizing it and the others for partizipating in our little competetive play around. This is my primarily RC activity and has been the last years. It has been a real eyeopener for me.

A Thunder Dragon or Fire Dragon no esc is now up in over 170 £ here in Norway. Up almost 25% since I bought one last summer. With that perspective the TF Evo was a good deal. The same goes for the TD4 when that was the offer of the week.

I made the last trip to old Silverstone yesterday. I ran 2 stints with the Lancia without a too convincing feel. I also made 5 stints with the Golf. I have not impoved since I made a superb lapcount two weeks ago. The only improvement is that I made it to the exit of Chapel yesterday at the 5 minmark. Until that I have not made it to Copse. So all in all half a round improvement. The front tyres have worn down 2mm. Not bad will I say.

I sing along with the others and advice you to get another car for running. I can tip you that the current Offer of the week at Tamico is Top Force Evo. A good opporunity to go for the top of the line from back then. I can smell the burning money in the pocket all the way here . And it's a shame with the current free falling norwegian krone (for me).

It's nice to have you back racing again, Ferruz. Looking forward to see what the Mid can do in the near future. I need a leafblower myself now. Glad I already have a Ryobi battery.

This is a superb project and will be interesting tofollow. The idea of JC Fox wheels is good. They look the business and you get to use good tyres. You will not be happy with the Grasshopper II tyres, believe me. As for shocks I think I found yellow bodys (part trees and konvolut) on Tamico last week. Check out the Terra Scorcher and Monster Beetle .

I saw yesterday that Tamico has moped the release date from May to July .

I took a trip back in time to the old Silverstone for the first time today. I made 5 stints with the M-05 Golf and I love the track. The biggest challenge is to hold back and not run over marker 8 in the club corner. Otherwise the flow is good and it is simply a pleasure to whip the Golf around. It is working superb right now.

The course looks nice to me. Testing is always good to do, if you have the time. The last times I have made 2-3 different layouts and always ended up with the most open one. If you should feel for testing I would suggest to move marker 6 up 0,5m for a smoother curve. But then it ends up less challenging and maybe reminds too much of Sigdal if ran clockwise, so it is maybe not a good thing. Might better leave it as is, but could be worth a try .

What is your most ‘fun’ 4wd tamiya buggy?
Andreas W replied to Sogogi's topic in General discussions
I only have 2 4wd Tamiya buggys (Terra Scorcher and Thunder).I am with you about the Thunder Dragon. I have different motors ready mounted in their own motormount for it, so it is really versatile and it does a good job on snow, gravel, tarmac or astro (fotball pitch). With a Silvercan it is nice to run for the kids. With a Superstock it is fast and challenging for me. Perfect to wear out old tires from the Tomahawk. That the Thunder Dragon is my favorite is mostly due to how it is built. I have built it with Xtra-speed A5 and B8 parts, rubber sealed bearings, a watertight servo and suspension shafts throughout, so it is a super reliable all year round performer. The Terra Scorcher is a second hand bargain, which aside from an A5 brace and suspension shafts in the front is straight out of the box (built by the previous owner). Both are lovely though. If I want to run a proper buggy body I can put on a Grasshopper or Hornet and it is another car. -
Hat off for BuggyDad's improvement on firm ground. Nice to share the podium with you. I think we can say it's a revelation to change for grippier tyres and run on brand sparking new tarmac. On that surface the Golf is super precise and goes almost as on tracks. On older, more strucktured surface it would have been another story.

An excellent choice. They really have some grunt. You should get 2-3 sets of replacement brushes as well. They wear fast. I am gonna try Yeah Racing brushes next in mine. They last a lot longer in the Hackmoto motors I have and should be worth a try. These motors cannot be compared to a SS, but hey: You get 2,5 of them for one SS.

Submitted. I have entered a load this time and claim the bottom note. The 3 4wd buggys only got one attempt each though. The Dictator was hopeless due to lack of steering lock, sløøøouw servo and no power to slide or spin around the tightest bends. It made only one lap more than the Grasshornet made with a DNF after 3:18, so this is certainly the definitive bottom. Hope you all had fun.

Inspired by BuggyDad I tried a set of mini spikes on a set of Turbo Scorpion rims I had, because the new set of mini spikes on the rear gave too much understeer with the 2 year old cut stagger. That was a success. It's a shame I had already glued the rear tyres to the white Pepper Pots. Otherwise I would have used Turbo Scorpion rears as well. This was a ton of fun on the neighboring property to where I have run the tarmac stages in the Postal Racing lately.

@simalarion: RC Maritime has not got M compound, because I bought the last ones . BTW has Radiostyrt Modellhobby them in stock. I messured a brand new tyre and it was indeed 55mm.

The tyres are holding up quite well. This is after 10 stints in what I hope is competetive speeds. I have switched the fronts when I come home after each time I have run it.

Had a wonderful time yesterday in 20C temps and superb conditions. The Golf showed it's best side with the Shimizu tyres and crushed the Lancia with 6 laps. This is mostly because the nimble Golf is so much easier to get around corner 5 and 6 correct. I have made better lapcounts with the Lancia, but these stints were so unclean, so I cannot in all honesty submit that. The Lancia is faster and has superb grip, but beeing bigger means going slower in the tightest corners, or miss the line and not recover before corner 3. The Golf is happy with it's new sneekers

From the 1:1 world the instructeurs at trackday events always repeat the importance of doing one input at the time. This goes for ideal line driving on tarmac. That is a golden rule and I see it instantly when I am pushing too hard and break too late. Then you turn in before the front wheels have regained full grip and you loose the line - not only in the first curve.

I have soft in the rear and medium in the front on the M-05. I think I could have run soft all round, without having griprolling, but then I'll probably need new fronts for each round. The Golf-body needs 55D, so I have not tried the Tamiya radials. I have until now been on the kit tyres. Without having touched a M-08 I think it cannot hurt to run the same compound all round. It would probably benefit from some stick on wheelweights in the front. The biggest improvement I have made the last year has come through throtle control and making smooth steering inputs. I remedier I saw a head to head comparason between Sebastian Loeb and the gravel and snow-legend Tommi Mäkinen on tarmac. I think it was Peggen Andersson and Bjørn Waldegard who were commenting for Eurosport Nordic at that time. No wonder who looked coolest and most dramatic, but also wore out the tyres first. The photage also shoved that he actually lost time in every corner. I read some wise words from @nicksincrc in this thread last summer about what he called the Sunday driver approach. I took that to me and it worked out almost instantly with the M-05, so a big thanks for that.

They are 55D. I bought them from RC Maritime here in Norway. They are made by Schumacher now and as far as I know they are obtainable.
