The previous owner had bent both rear axles, so they needed replacement anyway. No reason to keep on running in winter rally look. I run a Superstock BZ, because it was there at purchase. I changed the pinion from 22 to 21t and it suits the motor fine. No heat issues at all and good grunt.

Just got back from the first test of the XV with the wider rear axle. What an ultra nice experience. It was on wet tarmac with a thin layer of small stones on it. Halfway grippy, but slippery enough to pull long slides. It never lifted a wheel, so this was a clear improvement and worth every krone spent. The only thing I regret is that I only charged one shorty, so with the power hungry BZ you do not get so much runtime. @BuggyDad this is something to look forward to. It transforms the stability and makes the turn in less direct /brutal.

For me and possibly BuggyDad we are talking Postal Racing. So some sort of seriousness .

I have seen it, so that is maybe worth a try. When it dries up I think the Contract A34 could be good. This is a Schumacher-product, so quality is garanteed. They are easy to get here in Norway as well.

Hehe. I was thinking the same thing yesterday. It seems like most of the onroad tires come preglued on dish wheels, which I do not like.

Thanks for your reply and kind words . I have not messured, but I think the cup has a slightly larger diameter. The hole in the upright is rounded (in the area where the axle goes into the bearings), so when you put in the more square shaft it binds. Either way it now fits and I am happy. The hexes are 9 mm (because that was what the norwegian webshop had in stock).

I can live with the new stance

So I finally took the time to mount those axles today. It turned out not straight forward, but not that hard either. If you have the normal Tamiya plastic hub you may have less hassle. Even with the thin 5x10x3 bearings the axle pin was hard to enter. When I did there was endless binding. The solution was to machine the new axles to the same shape as the original. I also had to drill out the inside of the hub to fit the new bearings. On the first pic you see from top original, modified and unmodified. You see that the wider axle has a more square shape and will cause binding in at least the YR alu hub. On the second pic you can see the difference. The lhs is still original there.

Boomer, Fox and Greenhopper coming back!

This is hard. How on earth am I gonna be able to raise the funds for an Optima Mid? Tamico has a really nice price on the M-08R this week as well. One of those with a nice Escort MK2-body in silver on top is maybe the most sensible for me. -
Since you are asking so kind: TBH I think that 1,2,3 is too close. Espesially the distance between 1 and 2. 0,5 m is super tight. I did the same with the S-combination after the long straight at Rudskogen and it turned out super fiddly. It worked on the snow before the track was official (drifting around the markers), but once it got serious (and icy) the fun and flow was gone. For me is the size not critical. I am driving on either a parking lot or a football pitch according to what has the least amount of snow, ice or debries.

The track looks nice and is a good start for a track for us. I have suffered from ESC-problems the last week (HW 1060 going in limp mode) but is now sorted and the TD is ready for action again.

Congrats MontyMole. I never expected that we would see any lapcount over 40 this time. Well done. Sure it is nice to see a Lancia on top of the podium (even though beeing a through and through VAG -guy - but not snowblind). Hoping for better conditions for the next round. It would be nice to have higher expectations than be able to fulfill a stint without spinning.

This is becoming a seriuosly über beautyful buggy. With the chrome JC wheels it will look ace. I have them on my TD (allthough in simple white) and I love them. I think it looks good with the rear mounted shocks. If you run on gravel or dirt they take less of a beating back there than in front with hammering debries.

I have been testing the Terra Scorcher for the kids the last days. Yesterday we got 20 cm snow, but on the parking lot I normally run on tarmac there was so windy, so it was partially clear. On the property beside there was ca 100 m2 of even ice, so even a with child friendly motor and nihm you can slide around the whole pack. I even wisited my usual gravel spot today and the conditions were superb. The surface is frosen and the structures in it is saturated with small particles of ice and snow. The grip is good, but you can do long slides and get good speed. This is also an efficient way to wear out the full spikes. It's a shame that it was not like this while I was driving the last Postal round. Tomorrow we will get another 20 cm with snow, but on Saturday there will be 7C and rain, so sadly it will not last.

I would like to say the proudest RC-achievement came in two parts and is related to the Postal Racing series.. The first was when I managed to do 39 laps with the Golf in the late summer and get on the podium for the first time. When I knacked the 40 laps mark in the last round with the bargain 2. hand XV-01 Lancia I was so happy and that was the peak of my RC -hobby this year. For 2023 I would like to involve the kids more and restore my Nikko Dictator. Actually it is working apart from cracked wheel adapters on all four corners. This afternoon me and my son went out for a bash with the Thunder Dragon and the 2. hand Terra Scorcher. We had a lovely time on dry ice with gravel and sand upon. We want more Moments like that.

If you change to GH2 wishbones you can use 50519 like in the instuctions Alwin posted. 50520 for the rear. I run 100cst oil and 3 hole pistons all round. The biggest difference/improvement came when I mounted Kyosho Scorpion wheels rear. The most hassle free solution will be Frog hex, Javelin wheels in preferred color and Scorpion tires.

Merry Christmas to all you nice guys.

We had rain for the most this week. This means black ice on the afternoon and evening, so pretty hopeless comditions. My usual tarmac spot is now full of salt, so useless. I tried my luck at the gravel spot 2 days ago, but the TZ decided it was time for new brushes. I marked up the course and waited for the cold today (wanted crusty snow without footprints). That went pants. The snow has melted and there was just black ice. I then chose just to freeride on the crusty snow in the surrounding area. I have fitted a TT motor with 14T pinion. The car feels lame and it is destructive for the lesernes throtle management, but gives a nice indication of what to expect from the 2. hand Terra for the kids. With the 5200 Lipo i drove for more than 40 min and was still going. Wish all postal racers a merry Christmas. Family duties is what counts now, so no more postal racing before next year. Plan to wrench a little in my workshop inbetween.

Based on your previous threads this is going to be an interesting build. You are probably on the go by the time I am back from work, if the SH turns up today.

Wow Willy inne. That's a nice package . I Just picked up this healthy Terra on tre post store. It is said to be driven twice and compared to my relatibely new TD I see no reason to doubt that. It turned up for sale the same week I had ordered the TD and he has a nice Boomerang for sale av well. When the price dropped last week it was the time. I'm gonna strip it for the Terra typical stuff like rear universals and sway bar and the adjustable upper arms and put it in my TD. This Terra will receive a Carson start radiogear I bought last year, a steel pinion (if not present), a Deans connector and a HW 1060 if the BEC on the TBLE is faulty. Then the kids can use it together with me. A Silvercan is quick enough by now. This was a relatively cheap way to get hold of upgrades for my car and a readily competent chassis for the kids. Way cheaper than getting a No ESC Fire Dragon and fit bearings.

How about making a duckbill, like some of the guys are using in historic racing? Ok, there is no space for the complete bumper under there, but if the duckbill is made a little bigger there is probably space for let's say 1/3 of it . Pic borrowed from Barhaugen Media. An exzellent site for us petrolheads.

Hehe. The temps here are not as stable as I suspect they are at Ferruz' place. Now we have 0 C and we will unfortunately get more snow. Do'nt get me wrong. I love winter and snow, but not the heavy, slushy stuff we are getting today. I had a good bash with the TD yesterday night. It was too deep for the Lancia. I Do'nt see any point jamming it full of snow, when a buggy is better.
-
Thanks. Are you running 1 or 2 bearings on each side?
-
No time for anything RC related today. We got 20 cm of snow, so this day has gone for mounting chains and snowplow on the little grey Fergie. Here it is idling and everything is fine. It is so nice to have such machinery, which requires a minimum of maintainanze and just performs. To clear off the 55 m of driveway is just a joy. Still I got to do one RC related thing: I bought a nice second hand Terra Scorcher rere. It's for the kids, so they do not wreck my TD, which turned out way too good and is reserved for grownups.
