  1. Had a go just now with the Tomahawk and the Grasshornet. The weather got worse while I changed the lipo, but I did not want to discharge it directly, so it was clear that it was gonna be a wet race. No improvement for the Tomahawk. It was so slippery it was almost impossible to get around marker 6 and I more or less constantly drove over marker 7. This was a waste of time. The Grasshornet was a pleasant surprice. I gave it a new fishing line for the rear axle yesterday and it said "thanks" and put the Tomahawk in the corner of shame. With some halfway worn out Mini Spikes rear it ended up only one lap short of the Tommy. Not bad for a toy. The pic says it all. We were all soaking wet - even the lens.
  2. I got inspired by Turnip on Thursday and charged the round Lipo at work for a good drive in the lovely weather. Unfortunately the commuter parking was used by commuters, so no driving for the Golf then. I have only driven the Golf 3 stints so far. There is room for improvement. The weather has been awful. Yesterday out of desperacy I tried the Tomahawk on soaking wet astro. Following Nicsinc's Sunday driver-approach it went relatively well. Only 4 laps behind the Golf. When it dries up the understeer is hopefully gone.
  3. IT certainly looks the part. The stance is spot on
  4. Thanks for the racing, guys. I like the Golf more and more. I gotta say that I have been lucky with the surface. Until now the grip has been superb. I had a good bash with my son on Sunday. First the Grasshornet on astro and then the Golf on tarmac. This was rough, bumpy tarmac on a schoolyard and then it was clear how good the grip is on the Brand new commuter parking. Then there was off power oversteer and no grip at breaking - and no weight transfer. Still good fun for both of us. Now it's time to build the Thunder Dragon, so I have a car for carefree driving during the winter. Then the good lapcounts are gone.
  5. Actually I go wide around marker 1 av well. It helps to get a good exit and hit the apex at marker 2. I had 2 stints on friday afternoon in lovely sunshine but windy, bringing loads of dust to the tarmac. No improvement, but both runs were only 1 lap short of the personal best. Not bad given lower temperature and more debrees on the surface.
  6. You get the Toro 120 in a slightly cheaper version with a plastic casing, which I think we are talking about here.
  7. And after 3 more packs the tires are worthy for Project Baldy . This is my usual driving style with the Tommy. Certainy not the quickest but super fun. A bit like fellow norwegian, Vidar Jødahl, is driving his E30 M3 with 2jz at hill climbing in Germany: Loads og power, wheelspin, powerdrifting and Just pure fun. I've had a few attempts with the Golf. Must say it's tricky to get around marker 6 and not over it. The top speed is low, but the lapcount surprisingly good so far.
  8. It's always nice with a little sketch of a beloved classic as accent. I also like it when the course is hand drawn. In a world where everything is made on a computer and "perfect" it's liberating to see something made physical with a human hand. Hope to squeeze in a stint or two today. Gotta sneek away a little earlier from work, so I make it before the parents meeting at school 17:30;-).
  9. Nice it's a shame that the parking lot cannot match the topography of the lovely original. If the rain stays away I will give it a try on the way home from work .
  10. Well done. Pics like these are making the TD4 grow on me. It is astonishing how much nicer the TD4/TD2 is looking, when you paint a roof on the canopy. Less spaceship/fighter jet and more car.
  11. Wow. This went really well. I thought that if I was fast then the rockets would be even faster. It is worth mentioning that I have been lucky with the surface. The tarmac was brand new, so the grip was superb. When I got the flow the higher lapcounts just kept coming. My experience from trackdays in my 1:1 Golf MK1 can be transfered to this. It is remarkable how well the M-05 is behaving when you do what you are used to in the 1:1 world. This time I have driven every workday without rain (maybe only 2-3 days) since the track was published. 4 to 6 stints and it payed off. I'm so happy for making it to the podium. And of course congrats to Ferruz for finding three more laps on a not so nice surface. That is an achievement.
  12. Nice. Did you back it with white?
  13. On the way home from work now I've had such a joyful experience. I used my lucky battery and pulled three stints and all were improving of my personal best. This little guy is really groving on me now .
  14. On Tuesday I saw that a commuter parking lot directly at E18 had got a fresh coat of tarmac. Had the first three stints there yesterday. This is in the middle of a construction site for a new bridge at the E18 and a big industrial area, so loads of dust, but still better grip than on worn/rougher tarmac. I gotta say it's pretty adictive to chase the racing line, the best breaking points and give throttle gradually from the apex. Like Tamiyastef foresaw; I am getting more and more in love with the M-05. It's such a joy to see that you suddenly are able to do consistent laptimes .
  15. I think the colour itself turned out really nice. I love teal, cyan and turquise colours. Espesially with metallic.
  16. I took myself the liberty to make a detour for some postal on the way to work in the lovely morning sun. I now see that I made a decent lapcount with the Grasshornet the other day. Even though the Tomahawk is both faster and more powerful it's tricky to find grip on such a loose surface. It's making a better lapcount, but only marginally. For next week it's back to the Golf again. I think this track will be perfect for it. It's a fun and lovely track bzw.
  17. Aaaargh. I feel your pain. But to be constructive: Willy iine's idea about weathering in the other thread was brillant. Allthough for now it's OK to be sad for a while.
  18. I had the first trip to round 26 on the way home from work. The kindergarden started up on August 1st, so no more Racing by post there at a time on the day that suits my plan. I had not prepared at all, so no lipos were charged. Then the trusty Hopper had to do, since the Nihm-packs were charged. I drove on an area where I now only drive during winter. There is too much vegetation coming up now/the nature is taking it back, so no place to make a personal best, but it's a start and a training. The lapcount can only get better, but we can say that two years ago I would have been satisfied if I made so many laps with that car on that surface, so some progress has been made.

A nicely specced kit to DT-03 prize. With these specs you can easyly live with that it comes without motor and ESC.
  20. The GH2 black Edition has CVA shocks in tasty antrazite. Otherwise you could buy the 50519 and 50520 CVA if you want to upgrade a normal GH2. Personally I would have gone for the Black Edition. It's cool in black and it has got the shocks you want in the box. Edit: I see now that different norwegian web shops has the GH2 for significant different prices, because the cheapest ones are with pogo sticks instead of CVA. So watch careful if /when shopping.
  21. Yeah. Another track with a loop. That was cool the last time (on gravel).
  22. Wow, Grastens. The 39 laps were brutal. Congrats. I have expected that the fastest guys would have made 35 ish laps, but 39... Hat off . And of course really cool to see many entries - both new and old.
  23. I had the third trip to Silverstone on Tuesday. A nearby kindergarden is getting a makeover after beeng closed the last year. That includes new tarmac and a tempting racetrack for me. I gotta say the grip was outstanding. Now I feeled how good the weight-transfer works on a M-05 when breaking before a corner. No need to say I had a massive improved lapcount with the Golf. Allthough this site is a little narrow for this track and the shape is not square , so cone 2 and 9 are less than a m from the lawn on one side and a curb out of timber on the other. I never made a stint without marchaling less than two times. The best way to improve is not to make errors . This site will sadly only work for this round. By the next round the kindergarden has opened and the lovely, fresh tarmac is full of sand within hours.
