  1. Got a package from Tamico yesterday. I saw that the 6 sets of Optima universals they had in June were down to 1, so no time to miss. (I still have to decide wether to go for a Mid or a Turbo Optima). Also got universals for the Thunder Dragon and the Tomahawk. The latter also got the longer steering arms for the Turbo Scorpion, so now I can mount the wider front axle. The M-05 got DF-03 heatsinks. They are probably not needed, because after 3 stints of Postal racing in allmost 30C yesterday the endbell was still only warm, but nice to have.
  2. My gold shocks on my Burns DX was always been OK. The box is still dry after years of storage. The rear on my Tomahawk were OK from day one. The fronts had to be rebuilt 3 times to stop leaking. There is a lot of truth in the words of Superluminal above (and still I love Kyosho). Looking forward to more building of the nice Mid .
  3. A nice build thread and a pleasure to read - just like your thread about the Super Duper Hot Shot. Either a Turbo Optima or a Mid is next on my list, but by now impossible to decide. Looking forward to the electronics install. This will probably be a tricky one. At least tight.
  4. Had the first official go at "Silverstone" with the M-05 Golf tonight at bright sunket. The trusty Tomahawk accompanied the newcomer. The Golf did well, but the lapcount stayed the same . The Tomahawk not so. I used a Set of Jconcepts Dirt Webs - that to me until now were no good. That did not change on tarmac. The rear had little grip and the tires are now on their way to participate in Projekt Baldy. Back to astro for the Tomahawk. I have changed the tires already.
  5. Thanks . I see it too. It's not me beeing mirrored there . Not enough beard.
  6. Masking the Golf MK1-body for the M-05 with one of my 1:1 Golf MK1 in the background. It's going to be Park Green. In the real world I prefer more subtle colours on cars.
  7. Had the first test with the new built M-05 Golf today (or only the chassis, since I'll paint the body tomorrow). It's my first onroad. It's very different not beeing able to powerslide out of corners. I even made the first attempt on the actual postal racing track and made a for my standards decent lapcount. On better tarmac, with Shimizu tyres and with a lipo instead of a heavy nihm this thing really has got some potential .
  8. Modelsport Trident XT 12 seems like a competent ESC, if you are in the UK. I have wanted to try one, but am satisfied with the HW1060 until now. On high grip surface I see your point about weak brakes.
  9. Congrats to Ferruz again. I am really pleased with my result. With the new Mezzo rear tires the Tomahawk was flying .
  10. Had a second and last go on this track yesterday evening. Now with nigelnagel new Mezzos in Silver. What a difference. If I had changed the front tires as well I maybe could have got a lap or two more due to less understeer. Either way it was flying on the dry astro and was great fun . Tomorrow we are going on variation, so no more playing around with not toys for me in ten days. I can likely post my result right now. The Tomahawk is back in the locker with its friend.
  11. Got loads of wheels from JC for the yet to build TD and the Turbo Optima /Optima Mid that I do not own (yet). I also got a package from Tamico with loads of suspension shafts, Xtra speed A5-part and a Terra Scorcher body for the TD.
  12. I have finished the M-05 chassis and only have the electronics and bodywork left. The transmission and steering is buttersmooth. This must be fun.
  13. I managed to squeeze in two stints with the Tomahawk in increasing rain yesterday. I glued new Mezzos to new rear rims I got from JC and wanted to use them, but the left serrated wheelnut was mangled and I did not have time to fix it. Then the worn out mini Pins had to do. No need to say this was slippery, but challenging and good fun.
  14. Nice that this thread got a bump. It's been a while since I read it and there is a lot of useful information for my coming TD build .
  15. Had the first attempt on this lovely track last Friday with the Grasshornet on gravel. A couple of warm up-laps and one timed stint. Too many errors, but got a nice flow through corner 6, 7 and 8. I hope I have time to try the Tomahawk later this week.
  16. I actually have bought MCI decals in custom colours for it already. Got them last week. Two sets of silver JC Racing Concepts wheels as well. Originally I was set on the Turbo Optima (actually already last summer, but it was too costy for my budget). Now I have until August) September to decide.
  17. I have not started the build yet, but based on how it looks on the M-05 I am currently building I would have used a file. Then you have control on how much material you are removing.
  18. No Optima Mid for me this time. The only shop that actually stocks Kyosho here in Norway got 7 end of May. I though fine. Let's wait for the June paybill. Last Sunday they were all gone. I though it was weird, as the stock of other Kyosho reres hardly has changed since I bought the Tomahawk one year ago. I ordered a Hobbywing motor combo from them (for the yet to build Thunder Dragon) in the middle of May. This week I got an email from them saying that my order was cancelled because they have gone insolvent. I am glad that I always buy via Klarna, so you pay after deliverance. Nothing lost. Tamico will be the choice, when they get back in stock. Or maybe a Turbo Optima. The decition is hard.
  19. Congrats to Turnip for the victory. So many laps! I moved to the football pitch on a nearby school out of desperacy. I bought flat markers, which I used for the first time. What a difference. I made one good run with the Hopper and was not able to outperform that with the Tomahawk. Meanwhile we had rain, so now the rock hard, dusty desert-like surface is gone. There was so much fun on the astro, so I have bought new rear tires for that surface. The Mini Pins I used are done now (I used them on tarmac last summer before the body was finished and it could enter the competition). I am in the middle of building the M-05 Golf, so I can have some variation. Allthough I until now have had no interest in onroad. The model has been in a closet since I was home with my then newborn daughter in 2013 - only to gather more and more hop ups and accumulate more and more money. This better perform well.
  20. Nice, Coolhands. Does it come with front universals?
  21. The wife was away, so I had quality-time building the M-05 chassis and enjoying Mack Isbjørn hop up beer. I could only finish one corner, because I am waiting for more suspension shafts from Tamico.
  22. Just posted the results. We have had rain the last days, so now the grip on gravel will be much better. But there is no time for more attempts. Not so many attempts this time. I had to use the time for painting the house while the carpenter was here and we had scaffolding.
  23. No flames, but I painted my Nikko Dictator matte black. I liked it dark and mysterious . It got stickered up with stickers from me and a friends sticker bin, so it is "sponsored" by 3 or 4 different oil -companies. I'll post pics of it tonight. It's in it's box down in the basement. Here it is in all it's glory. Apart from cracked wheel adapters in all 4 corners it works just fine.
  24. Not today but on Wednesday I got the TD and a box full of more hop ups for my yet to build M-05 Golf MK1 (which by the time is turning into a money-pit). It's better be fast in the postal.
  25. I would say build the XV first and save the Mid for cosy nights when the winter storms are raging. Then you can enjoy quality-time building the Mid.
