+1 for the XV-01 from me. The two I have are super predictable in their different environment. One for tarmac and one for loose surface and winter duties. The latter is a near stock LD spec only with metal NN4 parts, vertical servo mod and TG-10 axles rear with 9mm hexes. That said I like my XV-02 more and more the more I run it. It's more playful and easier to initiate slides. On the other hand It's less consistent while sliding around more open curves. It's best going around hairpins, like you see in the vids of Dario. All 3 cars are second hand. Each of them costed less than a TT-02 with upgrades would cost. Actually the XV-02 was the cheapest of them, but that was a roller and the only electronics left in them from purchase is the Dualsky low profile servo that came with the winter XV-01. Edit: A couple of things worth mentioning in favour of the XV-02. Maintainence is far simpler. Diffs are taken out within minutes. It's also less prone to get stones jamming the rear drivecups and there is no place between the chassis and rear arms stones can get stuck, like on the XV-01. Changing the pinion is on the other hand far simpler on the XV-01, not requiring hijacking a skillful kid to do the wrenching, because of smaller hands and better eyesight .

No hands on experience, but always liked the Kyosho Outlaw Rampage (Pro, for more money, but also more nice parts).

1980’s Buggies - A Scorpion some RC10s and a quick Javelin detour
Andreas W replied to njmlondon's topic in The Builds
Nice writeup and build. Following this with interest. PS: Fill up the top of the front crossmember with stickon wheelweights. That does good for the steering. Idid that when I had the Yeah Racing Hackmoto 23t in it and left them in. The steering response with the 380 is superb. -
Huhey. Friday again. Today: Going home from work right now. Test the M-08 with the new Team Powers tyres on the way home. In the evening I'll iron the short for my national costume. Saturday: The National day here in Norway. This year is the first in many years where we have no obligations, so we will just enjoy the day, watch the kids in the parades, doing sack- and potato-racing and eat loads of icecream. Sunday: Probably go to the camping site and enjoy a laid back day on the beach. Have a nice weekend everyone.

What do you do with spare parts from a RC Kit?
Andreas W replied to RC_Hobbyist's topic in General discussions
Hehe. I actually thought about buying the parts needed to build a second M-05 of the leftovers. I stopped when I passed the price for an M-07 concept (but that would mean another chassis which will generate leftovers ). -
What do you do with spare parts from a RC Kit?
Andreas W replied to RC_Hobbyist's topic in General discussions
I have until now kept the boxes, so all spare parts go into the box and is kept in my hobbyroom/workshop in the basement. If I get hopups I put them into the corresponding boxes, if not fitted straight away. The same way it goes for future projects. The Optima Mid 60th has a box on top of it's box with spare parts, hop ups and electronics, and beside it is the Carten M210 FWD. New tyres are kept in boxes and not exposed to light. I tend to buy in bulk, when I order from abroad, so now I have a buggy and rally box and an M-chassis box. -
51021 are the same as the black that come with the Yaris only in white, or 300440075 for gold. Edit: The nr for the white rally dish wheels was wrong. The 26mm 2 mm offset variant is 51021.

When I only had the Grasshornet I used to run Grasshopper paddles or worn out Hornet spikes when running on tarmac and Hornet spikes for gravel/dirt. If you switch to Wild One rear wheels you can fit Hotshot block tyres. They are better regarding wear than the Hornet tyres and actually pretty good for bashing about on loose surface as well.

Well thought out words from @MadAnt here. @nicksincrc is also physically disabled. I didn’t knew before he posted it. When I heard about the equipment he is using for a handset I was amazed. I have seen the results he was making at the time in the RBP and after I knew about this I was impressed. I have personally no experience regarding this, so can only wish you the best of luck, don't give up, take your time and do things in your own pace.

You inspired me, so I took a break from the demo work in the livingrooms. A road next to us got new asphalt last week and I have thought about trying it. One of the junctions is large enough to make a little course for a rally car. There is too much traffic there to make more than 3 laps at the time, but still tons of fun and with flat rubber markers it does not matter. The XV-02 is a hoot to drive on the worn out Ride slicks - now with the least worn out at the rear, but when sliding at such speeds and with that grip the driver is in need of more practice.

Things has to be done. But the trusty M-06 is going nowhere, so there comes time. I love the Beetle body together with the Minilites. I see you got one of the VAG triplets. Igot a Skoda Citigo e a couple of weeks ago. Great car and I have thought it would be perfect for commuting and as a daily since my neighbor got one in 2020. We used to have a VW Lupo and still have the white 16" OZ Superturismo WRC wheels, which will be perfect on the Citigo. Everyone who has seen the pics of the rally prototype from the meeting at Wörthersee will think it makes sense .

You inspired me with this thread, so I put on the worn out Ride slicks from last year on the XV-02. I quickly lost interest for running the RBP course with it and made a larger course instead to get more speed and make faster slides. I've been watching so many Dario videos lately, so this had to be. Now when the metal threads come out of the tyres and I can hear them rub the body we can declare them fully done (and two new sets are ordered this evening.

It's light blue. PS-32 looks good and like the 917 did. I used PS-7 for orange, but pure orange (the Jägermeister color) is probably better, as it's less "red". Edit: Backed with white and then black.

@Mad Ax. That's a busy weekend and a lot of driving. May the weather be with you . Our daughter had birthday on Tuesday (and the dog on Monday), so Sunday we are having a family birthday in the building chaos. This means Saturday is full booket with cleaning, tidying and bading of the ultra dirty dog. I'm gonna put up the big tent on the fundament for the garage, since the livingrooms are full of materials and I am in the middle of taking up the old flooring, to come down to the original pinewood floor. Luckily there is only one layer of flooring here. In the ground floor bathroom there were 4 layers of floor heating cables... Sunday is birthday party 'till the bitter end. Today I am gonna run the M-08 Escort in the current Postal Racing round. The Shimizus rear are fully shot, so I am trying out some other tyres I have lying around, to try utilizing what I have. To finish off the pack and have some fun I have also brought the XV-02, so I also can completely finish the Ride slicks from last year. The weather is nice, so it's slowly time for painting a few shells I have prepared during the winter. Have a great one.

Great writeup and congrats with the result. It's always satisfying to read that the car held up and the event went almost as smooth as can be. Now on to the truck review.

Following with interest. My Dictator is complete and in one piece as far as to the broken tab on the battery door. But good to know someone is taking care of future parts support .

Hobbywing 10bl60 has more or less the footprint of the XR10 Justock and should be a nice fit. Here in Norway Surpass Hobby Rocket is good value for the money.

I see I have deleted pics to free up capacity. I'll add them here. The combo is nice from a performance point of view. I also got a good price and gave it a go. If I was to do it again I would put in a motor with dual sensor ports, or at least the port facing upwards. I see the vurrent Justock handout spec has the sensor port there, while the G2.1 still has it where mine has it. Then you need to position the motor like I did and file off a good chunk of the motor guard. I also used a 40cm sensor harness.

Anyone still use cool old tech AM and FM Transmitters?
Andreas W replied to Mechanic AH's topic in General discussions
I have a Sanwa wheel radio I bought new in the early 90s (but you got them already in the 80s) that I use together with my Nikko Dictator. I have used it a lot for this and my Kyosho Burns and it had long range and the only thing that used to go wrong was that the RX batteries in the Burns gave up. After I returned to the hobby I saw that there is a lot more going on in the air than like 20 years earlier. The range is not what it used to be and the car stops when there's no more contact and then it's not that far away. I used to run my cars on a frozen lake during winter and thaen it was looooong away from me without issues. Nowadays like 20m is enough. I now mostly run near railway facilities and the entry at power plants and to no surprice the old radiogear works not that good. I only run it within the small Racing by Post format, so the car is no longer away than 10 m and for that it's good. I have tried on the nearby school and it was no better there. So the conclusion is to try out carefully and maybe with a less precious model. As said I run the Dictator at small range. I would not trust it to my Burns though (and it needs more space/range anyway). -
Tamiya TBLE-02S or Carson Dragster - which to keep/use?
Andreas W replied to WhteRbt's topic in All things electric...
I know, but still only got beeping and blinking. Put on my old and not so longer good 5 cell Sanyo from my Burns and tadaa; it worked. Think I have just been unlucky with my Tamiya ESC's for the most. -
Tamiya TBLE-02S or Carson Dragster - which to keep/use?
Andreas W replied to WhteRbt's topic in All things electric...
@alvinlwh I am the one bringing battery box/pack up , based on my experience from when I was using my old radiogear. I then had one TEU-105 and two TBLE02S refusing to work without a battery connected to them. I think the OP has left that out. I later got one TBLM02S that worked as it should and all 1060 has worked as they should without any fuzz. Good you mention that the red wire from the ESC has to be disconnected. I forgot that, but remember now doing that (after reading it here before I signed up) and is as you say important. -

Then check the colors on the wiring and their position. Compare the servo to the new ESC. As said vintage radiogear was differently pinned. Unfortunately I don't have easy access to my old stuff ATM, otherwise I would have taken a pic of it. -
Tyres and rim combo, Grasshopper II
Andreas W replied to JimBear's topic in Vintage Tamiya Discussion
If not the WO wheels I would just order a set of JC Racing WO or Ultima Pepper Pots and put Schumacher Mini Spikes on them (soft inserts rear and nothing in the front). Costy, maybe, but this can be swapped around to other buggies. With the 380 you will have tires halfway to retirement, as long as you only run on the loose stuff. All can conveniently beeing sourced at Tamico. My first choice would be Kyosho Turbo Scorpion wheels with said tyres, but I cannot find them at Tamico ATM. The front wheels are wider, so the 4WD front tyres fit nicely. BTW I have seen Hotshot rear tyres on 2,2 wheels. That could also be an option rear. Check out the Martini Boomer inthe showrom of Juhinio. https://www.tamiyaclub.com/showroom_model.asp?cid=134234&id=52876
