Your mileage may vary. I have the same tires on my TT02 (or do they all have the same tires stock?), they lasted last than 10 runs. Not from wear, but from rippers on the inside edge of the rear tires.

I am still shopping for replacement. Any suggestions?

MST LTX is my choice for rally oriented tarmac running. They are slidable, but give feedback and the car actually responds to the inputs. I have got a few sets of the Tamiya kit radials when buying 2nd hand and they are just slippery and frustrating. Fine fir only doing donuts on a Silvercan and that's about it.

I just run the cheapest LTX tyres. You get the semi slicks variant as well. They have the same description,  but the semis feel softer. I haven't ran them yet though.

  2. That's a beautiful and tasty BBX. I like the design of this buggy and it can suit many different retro paint schemes. I like to think about it as a modern Bear Hawk, but that is if you use the kit stripes. The RMR scheme is of course also eye wettening.

Samirc.no was blowing them out at a bargain price last week. Knowing that I don't need one I did not pull the trigger and by the end of the week all 5 was gone.

  3. I think the Wideboy of BuggyDad is gorgeous looking on JC Optima Pepper Pots. It's only a little sad that JC is not making the narrow Optima fronts in as many colors as the wide fronts.

ChrisRx718 mounted Kyosho Turbo Scorpion wheels on his and they also looked smashing.

Both options make it possible running your preferred Schumacher tyres.

But I am biased and think this wheeldesign works with must models B)

  4. New weekend, so what are we up to, folks?

Today is the only day for the coming week with sunshine,  so now I am gonna tear up the rest of the flooring in the livingrooms and fill up the trailer again. Iwas at the dump with a full load yesterday. After that it's late lunchtime, so then we are heading for the camping site.

Tomorrow there is rain,  so more demolishing indoors for me.

I got a package from Plaza and the Lapmonitor with a load of different transponder mounts the other day,  so inbetween I'm fiddling about adapting transponder mounts to the different cars.

    Have a great one.

Oh, man... occasionally, I come across @Shodog's threads and feel the void.  I've been away a while. Now I see @MadInventor has left us also?  He was big on custom builds and not many could step up to that. RIP Madinventor.

He said he was logging permanently out and that the cancer had got so far there was only short time left. A sad, sad thing and a reminder that life is not something that should be taken for granted.

  6. MadInventor (RIP) created this ultra cool Ford County inspired tractor from scratch. Hat off for that  He is sadly not more among us, so not possible to ask for advice.

i have saved my son's Bruder Ford tractor, if at some point an RC conversion costing less turns up. Personally I would have liked something a bit more retro, like a Massey Ferguson 1150, but you take what you have.

Edit: Looks like I was a tiny bit later on the trigger than ad456.

  7. I marked up and made the first revisit to this challenging and lovely course just now. I am recently consistent,  but still is not up to the pace from last time. The tarmac where I ran then was almost new,  so very grippy. Both cars were 210mm wheelbase,  but the Ride slicks I am running now are grippier than the Shimizus on the surface Iam currently running on.

By next week I should have the Lapmonitor operative. Just gonna modify one of the mounts I got for the transponder to fit. Very much looking forward to not do manual counting anymore.

  8. @njmlondon Hehe. You say something there. But I remember a mate's Marui Samurai when we were young. All that hassle with the chain that went off and jammed is nothing I am tempted to repeat. Thet 60th Anniversary is probably gonna be the one Optima I will get. It's simply too much money that I now want to spend on onenof my 1:1 Golf MK1 instead.

In the meantime, I got the body, wheels and tires to make my Dirt a Dune Master and I got myself a Comical Grasshopper...

I think it's against my nature to limit myself to a list :D

Then again I'm holding of the urge to get an Optima Pro and Turbo Optima Mid Special...

Almost the same here. I was sitting on the fence last year, before getting the 60th Anniversary Optima Mid. What I really wanted was a LWB Optima Mid,  but it's a bit flashy to get the Optima I got and then get an Exo conversion. The Optima Pro is tempting as well, but du I want yet another belt drive...?

I got the Lapmonitor today and a package from Plaza with the last parts I wanted for the Optima Mid,  apart from an Optima belt. If the funds allow it I am seriously considering an M-07R and joining the M-chassis racing community here. But we'll see.

Tried the Schumacher tyres on Juniors' star dish rims to see how this would look like on the Schrott Racer. U6581 front, and U6558 on the rear, both yellow compound. Hmm... well, something feels off, they look a bit anemic to be honest, and the Star Dish isn't a favourite, either.

But put them on a set of JC Racing Ultima Pepper Pots or Wild One (or maybe the Astute design) wheels in a preferred color and you are there.

  11. Nothing has happened here with either chemistry. The only thing that has happened to me is that a cell or two in two of my NiMh packs have backed out making the pack useless and been recycled.

I always store, charge and transport my LiPo batteries in different sacks/bags for it. The end solution for charging and storing is a Bat Box though; One large for storing and one medium or small for charging. The largest batteries I have are 5200mAh 2S, so the medium should do for charging.

  12. This weekend mainly two things happen for me.

    1) Paint the second livingroom and extension.

    2) Our daughters birthday party tomorrow. It's gonna be a bake off- inspired party, where the girls are baking their own cakes before feasting. We had a similar solution last year, where they made their own mini pizzen, before I baked them in the pizza oven. I great success we hope to copy somewhat tomorrow.

If I get some time for myself I'll either mount the brushless system in the M-08 or take out the center diff in the XV-02. I really should finish prepping the Skoda Fabia body for it,  but I don't feel for it ATM. It's cut and sanded already a long time ago,  so it's just about making the finishing wash and masking.

    Have a great weekend everyone.

Your Tomahawk just continues to grow on me. I really need to pull my finger out and get mine built. Are those the standard Tomahawk wheels on there? I know you like Schumacher tires and believe they are all for 2" wheels so curious to know what wheels you have at both ends.

Wheels are 2,2 JC Racing Ultima Pepper Pots. Tyres on the pic are Cut Stagger low profile in silver at the front and Mini Spike 2 in yellow at the rear. For tarmac I just run whatever old/worn down tyres I have. The fronts had until now lived an easy life only on gravel or astro. They were new in 2021. I opened up a package of similar tyres the other day and instantly felt the difference. They were then destined for tarmac.

Where am I headed? Well, stubborn as I am, I'm installing an EmbieRacing carbon chassis which will eliminate the steering bell cranks altogether.

Hehe B).  That's the way to go. Looking forward to see how it works in the vallbearing-like environment.

  15. This week I have been running the Tomahawk,  so I have a result in the 380 class. I tried the worn out Mini Pins I have liked on the Thunder Dragon,  but I did not even finished one lap before it was straight back to the "pit" and the not so worn out Mini Spikes were mounted again. This car is like a slow,  nervous M-08,  so the biggest challenge was not spinning while runding marker 5. I had loads of aborted stints because of that. It responds good to weight transfer while braking,  but it's an ultrafine line between success and failure on tarmac. Normally I would prefer running it on loose surface,  but I have been lacy and just used the already marked up course. It's ages since it rained properly, so it's extremely dry and the surface would not hold up long enough for a pack anyway.

I have fitted the fan mount now,  so summer temps are less of a concern. Not that the temps yesterday and today between 7 and 9° C would be a problem.

  16. @Pylon80. It was sad reading about your bad experience in the other thread a while ago. Luckily I have no experience with pebbles getting into the belt drive, but from time to time the steering jams of course. Not so frequent as you describe, though. The bigger problem for me is pebbles jamming the rear drivecups and/or jamming between the rear arms and the chassis, making it handbrake turn to one side.  In the latest video from Dario you can see he had this as well.

The XV-02 has another shape there, so nothing gets stuck (as I have experienced so far).

I am curious about where you are heading now. I have checked the classifieds here and a 2nd hand Xray XB4 is not that costy, so with the Evo2 conversion kit from Tux I would end up more or less similar to a new, hopped up XV-02. Then everything is enclosed and should be pretty Arizona proof B)

  17. I've ran a few packs with the M-05 on Ride slicks and got to a result I was happy with. It has started diffing out on the long straight, so not that consistent that I am used to.

I have tried different tyres on the M-08, since the rear soft  Shimizus said goodbye. Carten kit tyres were awful. Only usable for bashing or for kids (on an FWD). Then I tried Tamiya 60D radials. S grips rear and some hard stuff I got together with the M-08. A bit understeery, but so good that I ordered a set of M grips for the front, to have as an option. They look the business on Carten wheels. I had also ordered a set of Team Powers premounts in 34 and 32, which I also tried. The rears were not as grippy as the Ride slicks,  but I still was able to make the same lapcount as with the Ride slicks. Team Powers are easy to get here, not having to order from abroad,  so for the M-08 when running the Escort shell a clear favorite. Looks kind of like 5 sooke Revolution Classic Line fro "a distance ". After all the M-08 ended up only one lap behind the M-05,  which I am really happy with.

I have also ran the XV-01 red Lancia and it put the hammer down beating the M-05 with two laps, but none of the stints made it through the quality control. I made two stints with that superb lapcount,  but on both of them I was running over marker 4, so nothing to submit.

I have also ran the winter XV-01 and XV-02 on different tyres. Now the MST LTX are almost through, a set of Tamiya radials (I got two sets with the winter XV-01 and the XV-02- horrible tyres) are through and one tyre competely split and ripped and the old Ride slicks have finally split on the inside. Going in rally fashion there was little consistency, so nothing to submit. But I was having a ball and have learned a lot.

With the white backing on the Escort shell it's obvious where the Shimizus has ended up.
