  1. We have a major bath remodel that just finished up. With all the drywall sanding there was dust all over the house including my office right across the hall. All my cars had a nice layer of dust so lunch time was car wash day. Strategically got this all done before my wife came home from work.
  2. I got this a few weeks ago from Rinskie here on TC. Got bearings and Deans connector already soldered onto the ESC. This build, when I get around to it will start out as a shelf queen (after a driveway run or two ) and then wait till my nephew's son is old enough to enjoy a hobby quality RC. I have a few RTR take-off transmitter/receivers I can toss in so we can drive together some day. Thanks again, @Rinskie !
  3. I'm guessing it's the camera angle but to me, the car looks noticeably quicker in the first video than the second one.
  4. Just as a quick public service announcement, ( ) anytime thread lock gives you trouble removing the screw, try a little heat. If you risk too much heat from a pencil butane torch, try resting the tip of a soldering iron on the outside of the part (i.e. the part you want to expand). This trick uses both thermal expansion of the outer metal as well as the heat helping to loosen the bond of the thread lock.
  5. Thanks for the info but no need for the list at this time. What I ended up doing is getting a set of tires/wheels for the Rough Rider/Buggy Champ. Don't recall how expensive the were at the time but now they're plentiful due to the rerelease of the Buggy Champ.
  6. Best of luck. It's a horrible feeling. We occasionally will have basement water issues depending on how saturated the ground hydraulics get. I've already been a nervous wreck for days while being on vacation and looking at the rain forecast back at home where I can't do anything about it.....
  7. <I'm guessing this has been discussed previously but I wasn't able to find a post with a search> This is a trick I learned years ago when flying precision aerobatics. I thought to share this as I got an aftermarket TT02 steering linkage set and the ball ends were somewhat tight. On a test fit, I could feel they effected the movement of the suspension as well as the turning of the steering hubs. As we know, most ball links are metal ball into plastic and as such, sometimes can be too tight. In the airplanes this was real critical to have the ball links to be tight (i.e. not allow any play) but still articulate very smoothly. To do this you need to find the exact same size screw as the I.D. of the ball. Then you need to clamp that down with a nut on the other side. Only need to cinch it fairly tight, don't need to death lock it. Then you take the exposed threads and chuck them up in a high speed Dremel tool. What you're going to do it essentially spin the ball very fast inside of the plastic ball end. That said it is critical that you only burst the Dremel to high speed on and immediately off. You're basically using friction to burnish in the ball to the inner race of the plastic ball link. AGAIN, only use an instant on and off with the Dremel. You can do it many cycles if needed but if you leave it on for too long, you WILL melt plastic. You can wobble the ball around too to get other areas smoothed out. Check it each time until it feels just right. The goal is to have the ball articulated freely in every axis (including rotation) without allowing any slop. Occasionally it feels perfect when you just finish up but may tightened up ever slightly again after the piece cools a little. Not biggie, just chuck it back up and burst one more time. Hope this helps.
  8. This is a great idea. Or even better (i.e. wishful thinking ) perhaps would be a 380 size motor with a built in ESC (think HW Quicrun Fusion ) that the overall length with the built in esc is similar to the a 540 brushed. Basically a direct drop-in size that's comparable in power/torgue/motor bolt pattern.
  9. Almost finished the chassis for the Ford GT. The blue bits on this one are all after market and I have to say, I got lucky with all of them. I disassemble the shocks and reassembled them with green slime and the proper amount of shock oil. Seem very smooth and the rear ones were on there for several days and no leaking. The center shaft and cups all fit well and run smooth. The steering linkage is the one that surprised me the most. A few reviews said they had as much slop as the stock set but the set got seem as tight as the Tamiya brand ones in on of my other TT02s. Only thing I need to do it get the balls to move a little smoother on the outboard links. I have a trick that we used to do with ball links on the RC planes that will smooth them right up.
  10. ^^^This^^^ This is what I wanted to see last year when this similar question was asked for 2024. And as such, I'll officially use this post as my place holder for the 2026 request thread when that emerges about a year from now.
  11. After @Rinskie mentioned the deal he got direct from TamiyaUSA during the holidays I was keeping my eye on the DT03. They left the $65 holiday special price on it for a good week or two but at the time you couldn't order it due to inventory. A few days before inventory was done, I notice the holiday promo price was taken down. Oh well, all for the better....I really don't need an other RC car. The last one I got was the last one I'll ever need.....
  12. I use the FS-BS6 (AFHDS 2A) and the FS-3A (FSHDS) with my GT5.
  13. My FlySky GT5 Tx, which I love, is almost out of model memory. I most likely will have to get a second one but before I do that, is anyone familiar with a pistol grip style RC transmitter that works with both the AFHDS and AFHDS 2A protocols (like the GT5) but also have an internal model memory greater that 20 models? Just like with my planes, I really prefer to have just one transmitter so I don't have to figure out which car/truck goes with which transmitter. At the same time, I don't want to have to replace 20+ receivers I already have. From what research I was able to find, apparently FlySky is not the only brand that uses AFHDS and AFHDS 2A protocols so perhaps there's a Tx brand out there I'm not aware of with the features I'm looking for....??? As a second question, does anyone know if there's a update to make the GT5 hold more that 20 models in memory? Thx....
  14. Sensational! Really enjoyed seeing this come together.
  15. Sounds like every home improvement project I attempt, just replace "Toolstation" with Lowes or TrueValue.....
  16. While admittedly I'm not very familiar with Tamiya hop up motors, the cooling fins build in to the can of that motor is one of the coolest things ever <no pun intended> !
  17. Your 2025 RC Plans.... Jan 1st 2025 - don't buy anything else till you complete the projects/kits you already have. Jan 2nd 2025 - click "add to cart" then "order complete" on TT02 hop ups.
  18. Congrats on the new Beetle and I'm sure you will enjoy it! Here's another choice on the charger. Looks identical to the one you listed only less expensive. I have this charger as one I keep in the camper to charge whatever RCs I bring with me on a camping trip (getting too lazy to pack up my four output charger and all the wires). Nice charger. Works well and can be plugged into AC or on to a 12V car/camper battery. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0B5LLVSRK/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
  19. A friend and I took an hour and a half road trip to one of the most stocked RC shops I've ever seen. Unfortunately, not a lot of Tamiya stuff but did pick this up as a spontaneous purchase. Always loved the Ford GT. Little disappointed this one came with the TBLE04 instead of the HW1060 most of the US Tamiyas have been packed with lately. Maybe I'll find someone in the US that wants to swap this for a 1060 if they like to run non-lipo batteries. Probably just hop this one up with bearings, oil shocks and metal prop shaft/drive cups like my other TT02s. Never thought Tamiya could make a car with more decals and more challenging contours for said decals but alas, they stepped this one up over the Lancia Delta.
  20. Got an SCX6 for Christmas. Have a few upgrade parts for it already but had to get it out and run it. Thing is huge but lots of fun. Can't wait to do some rock crawling with it.
  21. As a reminder, make sure you get familiar with turning up the steering rate and the throttle rate in the transmitter. I had mine running for a few weeks before i realized it could go a little faster and turn substantially tighter. The steering rate is so high, a lot of folks drift with these.
  22. Very organized. Looks great. However....you spelled "Tires" wrong.
  23. This project was long in the making but finally finished it up recently. I got some rewards points from a work related award and used the points to purchase this through Walmart of all places well over a year ago. I really wanted to do a really blacked out buggy and planned to have the parts that would see the most abuse Cerakoted. I found a guy about 40 minutes away that was just getting started with Cerakoting to do custom car/truck wheels and so I took bag of parts to him. Ended up he ran into issues with business permits, electrical code issues and he never got the business started for months. I felt bad for the young man as he quit his fulltime job to do this, plus spent all of his savings on equipment and ovens. Eventually after all the delays I just met him and picked up my Tomahawk part (he told me he had to go back to working another job). I eventually found a gunsmith to do the same Cerakote job and got them back in a few weeks. To get a decent price I told him to wait till he had time. By the time I got everything back, it was no longer RC build season. Anyhow, building season is back in swing so I got this done......finally. While it will get a little easy driveway action, this one will be a shelf queen for the most part. I have a box art Scorpion to run hard when needed. Overall, I'm thrilled with the way it turned out. A lot of work to keep it low gloss and the carbon fiber accents. I even sprayed the window netting/surrounds with flat clear to tame down the gloss. I'm calling it the Blackhawk CF! 24. Hmm, I reviewed a lot of Tamiya USA BF deals but I didn't see that sale. I would have picked that one up for that price. Enjoy!
  25. Wow, that's a great deal. Was it from a retailer or a private sale?
