  1. I have yet to build my tt02...waiting on a steel spur (64) and pinion set (couple diff ones in the set) Will eventually go brushless, but I think it is pretty cool seeing how far you can this chassis with brushless
  2. Anyone know where you can buy the above from? astec models used to do them but they aren’t even listed on the website any more not even sure of the parts I require if I was to make the lead myself I wanna say they are jst 2.54mm pitch, 2 pin connectors but it seems there are a few different types and pitches so would rather not buy several different types to hopefully find the right ones
  3. Does anyone know if these spotlight bars are ready to install or if they need resistors adding? package says < 3.2v which I am taking to mean no more than 3.2v but comes with zero instructions and as I am clueless with electrics was wondering how other people deal with them They will be getting wired into an mfc-03 unit if that makes any difference
  4. Check out teri wilde on youtube has a few different trucks and trailers built up uk based channel too and polarbear111 and scotty555babe Length of the tractor unit is 50odd cm but with a trailer I think they are around 3’ - 4’ long in total yer theres all sorts, reefers, containers, curtainsiders, low loaders etc I’m after a tri axle box trailer but don’t have one yet. carson seems to be a good brand for alternative trailers albeit more expensive than tamiya trailers
  5. Yer the plastic servo savers are garbage lol already learned that lol cheers mate
  6. Been held up waiting for paints to arrive, which they did today, but on a side note I received a lesu roof spotlight bar… do they require a resistor at all? I plan on just wiring them into the mfc 03 but have no clue if they require anything else such as resistors etc?
  7. Alvin, WOW, thank you so much for a very informative post, brilliant info, laid out with explanation, just what us newbs need...thank you so much mate Awesome, thanks for the info and sugestions with link, brilliant stuff guys thanks
  8. I'm also thinking about an air brush set up and have no idea. The must have for the compressor though seems to be a separate air tank so make sure you get one with a tank...that's as far as my knowledge goes at the minute lol
  9. Lol I got that tip off hobbyconcepts on youtube and the extra plastic tupperware from terry wilde on youtube…For anyone else tackling one of these models for the first time, I cannot stress enough how much easier it makes things getting organised with the screws and parts you will be using for each little step… I don’t think I’d have got this far without that, just too many bits and pieces to keep track of otherwise. Anyway, gearbox done, I watched along to a gearbox build video as I followed the instructions and between the two it helped a load
  10. Gearbox next, not looking forward to it, if I can do something wrong I will, despite watching a million youtube vids… I will sort it though, fingers crossed lol here it is upto now, axles are on it now
  11. Hi mate, cool thanks very much for the links really appreciate it, snaffled up the servo horns as the one I bought (25t) wouldnt let me screw the ball connector into it lol appreciate the help and advice thank you mate
  12. First bit of chassis done, kit is missing a screw, and as I am not a diy type or done any kits before I have no spares or anything, so its a pain having to wait for deliveries… anyway, very first bit of shape to it with basic chassis together Think it’s steering rod and servo attachments next but again, waiting for screws and a ball connector etc… will assemble steering rod then move onto front axle and go back to finish servos off once bits get here Tell ya what, it’s fiddly with sausage fingers lol
  13. I had bought this servo horn to use on the steering servo, but the ball connector thread was a touch too big to screw into it… cheap amazon chinese rubbish Is what I am putting that down to lol
  14. First problems straight away page 1 None of the screws supplied seem long enough to start biting into the carson shift servo thread…screws are long enough, but doesn’t bite into servo threading once servo saver assembly installed…luckily I had a spare servo so think I should get away with this one just for shifting pic shows the servos and the ma14 4mm ball connector snapped in the nut…and no spares. Nightmare waiting for a pack of those to turn up now
  15. Most of the big stuff has come in now so thought I’d start this thread. Never built a truck before and only built a couple of rc cars around 20+ years ago, so for all intents and purposes I am brand new at this. Fingers crossed I don’t mess up too badly
  16. Finally, enough gear is here now to get cracking wish me luck, I’ll def need it
  17. Get the r620 on Tuesday, but I have just discovered the steering servo doesn't sit beside the shift servo up front as standard on the euro style trucks? I've bought the Carson bent steering rod, but if I want to position the steering servo up front next to the shift servo, do I have to buy some after market part, or can it be done stock? If I need a part, can anyone suggest make/model/part number please thanks
  18. I found hobbyconcepts, also teri wild...both excellent informative channels Thanks very much mate, appreciate it
  19. Just an update, the seller got in touch and I have changed the order to the Scania R620, so will be ideal platform for the trailer combo I wanted fingers crossed it gets here tomorrow (doubt it) this waiting os doing my head in lol
  20. Waiting for a tamiya 1/14 truck to arrive and wondering what the thoughts are on the flysky radios? I like the idea of the fsi6x because of it can be opened up to 10 channels which might be useful over time if more lights and things get added? Has anyone ever encountered a 1/14 scale truck and trailer needing more than 6 channels? I will be adding a trailer and lights and sound but over time will be adding more lights and whatever takes my fancy, so would like to build in a little future proofing if you think the extra channels could/might be utilised? cheers
  21. Ahhh thats interesting servo horns, i have seen people use metal ones and then have to grind them down a bit…the worry about buying the wrong things prevents me but i’m hoping after I have built the truck I will be a bit more educated and can make better decisions with regards buying little hop ups etc… that’s going to be part of the fun I think, installing little improvements over time thanks for your reply mate, appreciate the advice
  22. 0h wow really the servos and esc will be ok? That is such a relief tbh, I mean I don’t wan’t anything special just the right gear to have a well working model so that is brilliant info thank you very much wow even better if using the mfc that I don’t need a separate esc, again, fantastic i fo and takes the nagging worries at the back of my kind away. oh yes that’s an excellent point about the trailer. I did actually in time wanted to add a trailer and ideally a box trailer so that is a very big consideration for this particular build. The store I bought from were showing in stock online, however yesterday they emailed saying a small delay… with the trailer issue in mind I have emailed asking if possible they can change the order to the Scania R620…no issues either way I can still add a flat bed to the GH but a big reason for wanting a truck kit is to recreate the livery of a local haulage firm I and my dad worked at (my dad has been passed 19 years so it is a kind of emotional attachment to the build) I think whatever happens I will end up with two truck kits over time anyway so either way will be ok but I did intend for a full tractor trailer kit in company livery so yer that’s def a point I had completely overlooked. Luckily I do like the look of the flat bed trailers so not the end of the world but won’t suit for my painting ideas. thanks very much for the reply and excellent i fo, appreciate it mate Again, I am surprised but well happy the servos should be ok for use, I genuinely thought they would be no good, but even if they do me for a while and to get the kit built it’s great news and really puts my mind at rest. Brilliant news on the motor too, yes I was trying to find something that would slow the truck down and make it more manageable/stable but I had read 35 or 80t motors where the ones to go for, weirdly I can’t find any info on the poison specs as to what T it is but again you have helped put my worries to bed… just to know I can crack on and get building when everything turns on with no real issue is great to hear. Tbh re building and rebuilding, YES, I fully intend and hope to be tinkering with it for years to come adding bits and stuff as my knowledge and experience improve, plus as you say, building it will be an excellent tutorial in it’s own right. fantastic replies guys thank you so much. I had built an electric tamiya car and a nitro hpi car like 25 years ago so for all intents and purposes i’m as newb as is possible to be so I really appreciate the warm welcome and help, I feel so much better now knowing basically I am ready to go with the gear I already ordered I will start a build thread once everything turns up and I am ready to go, absolutely cannot wait to get cracking thanks guys
  23. Hi guys, Had a bit of a mad moment the other day, and without much research I grabbed the Grand Hauler kit and some other bits and pieces (not all here yet) Thing is, I suspect I made mistakes with the servos and esc etc and would like some recommendations and pointers please. I have the carson reflex stick 2 (will get a flyski s6 in the future) a couple of carson 6kg servos and a hobbywing quickrun 1060 esc, all of which I suspect are poor choices. However, I will be doing a Scania model and possibly a couple of cars in the future so will be fine hanging onto these items for the moment, but really would like a better chosen esc and servos. I don’t imagine the truck will be getting a huge amount of use, but it will be used on carpet so don’t think the servos are up to snuff for that tbh. Can anyone suggest some solid servos and esc that are not the bare minimum requirements and can give a bit of headroom in terms of capability? Oh, also I grabbed a carson poison motor, any better suggestions for a 80t or even 35t motor that people get solid results from? As an aside, what batteries and specs are people using? Also ordered the mfc 03 which I know may offend some sensibilities seeing as it is euro style but tbh, I am not entirely convinced I will install it and may save for a euro truck later down the line…everything is up in the air at the minute but I realise servos are pretty much the first thing you start to get fitted to the truck so would like to get those sorted in time for it’s arrival Cheers all p.s I am UK based if that makes a difference regarding recommendations and availability etc
