  1. Hi All

i have just got this R6GS, paired with a R7FG receiver, I have paired and installed(see photos), I have a solid green led and signal bard on the transmitter, but nothing on the car works, no steering servo or motor activation, I have tried 3 receivers and all do the same, can anyone help?

Sorry if this is a derail but does anyone know why the 2011 Avante is so expensive? It's about twice the price of the super avante - which I would assume should be superior in terms of design and component quality...

I really don't need another car but I'm sort of intrigued by this one so just wondering, like.

It’s an adventure to build, and the kit is super quality, glad I did it. Just finished a midnight pumpkin, and I can see where the extra cost goes, even without the iconic history…

Unable to find a bigwig chassis tub, so I bought some Milliput Black and decided to fashion a repair.

It actually worked ok. I’m really surprised how well it has bonded.  It will at least allow me to start rebuilding it and I can swap in a chassis when I find one.

I also found more horrors! 😱I removed some 4mm wood screws from this when disassembling the Bigwig.  The previous owner had probably tired to use them to hold the gearbox on the broken chassis. The issue is that the screw holes are as large as the head of a std m3 screw, so it just wobbles around :(

hopefully someone will have a spare as they seem to come with the boomerang sprue so there might be a few boomer guys with these spare.

I got a set from Tamico in Germany, along with the rubber boots for the rack and pinion steering

@moffman  I remember a Tamiya official YT clip where Maezumi-san was explaining the history of the Avante and he brought along that same metallic finish Avante.  :D   He even mentioned that had it not been for Tamiya releasing the Avante, he would've worked somewhere else.

I am sure the limited release holds A LOT of value to Avante fans!!    Congrats for owning one.

For an average bonehead RC guy like me, PS16 shall do!    Haha

I am starting my Avante tonight, and PS16 for the body... getting hard to find paints here right now

  5. All finished, what a joy to build, have just put a silvercan in it as at this stage I’m planing to have it as a shelf queen, I’m pretty confident  that’s going to change though, no point having them if you don’t drive them, and have a BZ 23t to go in it. Painted in  SILVER METALLIC ANODIZED ALUMINUM – PS-48 and backed in black…

@Tgrif So how far are you on your Egress?

I got the body cut on mine today.  :D

I was wondering.. do you folks paint the bottom tray black or leave it clear?

I masked off the bottom chassis before I put it together and painted around it so I have the carbon chassis visible through the bottom, I got the idea off tamiya legends, or the RC you tube guy from Australia can’t remember which one.

Hi Tgrif, I am interested in where you managed to find them. I can’t find any stock of these for my vintage resto job.

Edit: just spotted the above post about super clod buster F parts!! Lol

Good you found some I got mine from eBay,(clod buster ones)

  8. Having recently got back into it, and after having a Bigwig, Supershot and Monster Beatle in the late 80's, the new range of electronics is a breeze, reliable and no need for the extra weight and expense of a second servo. If i am fortunate enough to get a NIB vintage and maybe its a shelf queen, then yeah id keep it original, but on the other hand if I own it I will more than likely run it, as thats why i do it, and the new gear is easy and reliable.

  9. I have a problem with my VQS, it makes a high pitch whine, the front wheels move but the rear do not, then it gets worse and wont run at all, I have rebuilt the rear gearbox twice now(using the existing parts) and have new gearbox parts on the way,  I run a 23t BZ motor in it. i think the centre diff is the issue but not sure on how to fix it/if it will happen again, or if there is a hop up option to the gearboxs.

    any help would be appreciated
