  1. When I tried to get one from RC Champ I was told that their entire allocation was sold out and they would not be getting anymore unless Tamiya were to do a second production run, Stella have sold out their entire first batch and Jason sold over 60 of them within the 1st 24 hours. This re-release has recieved press attention outside of the realms of this and other R/C forums, for example a feature was written about it in a UK gadget and tech magazine. I wouldn't be surprised if it has captured the attention of yet more people who were into the hobby as kids but were unaware of the re-re boom. Heaven help them and their wallet if they stumble onto here though.
  2. Now that we are seeing the sales reaction to the Buggy Champ, can there be any doubt that this will happen? Honestly, if anyone can think of a legitimate reason why the Scorcher would/could not happen then post it here because I can't think of a single one. I really think they should strike will the iron is hot though. Issue it for this Christmas with the box stamped with the same "30th Anniversary" label as the Buggy Champ and, as someone said on the BC thread, watch ebay go into meltdown.
  3. Me too. Infact following the sales reaction to the BC they would be absolutely crazy not too, it's a 100% no-brainer.
  4. What was the shipping charge from them?
  5. Considering both their first and second batch have all been sold pending payment I wonder how many kits they were allocated in total?
  6. One thing is for sure, if RC Champ honour their pre-order price and Tamiya then re-release the Sand Scorcher then it is safe to say there will be a stampede to pre-order from them.
  7. I'm getting mine from Stella, I enquired with them weeks ago and have been informed by them that I will definitely be getting one from their batch. Bearing in mind that they usually have slightly cheaper shipping costs than Jason then the kit will cost me no more than $328 to be delivered which equates to £199. Even if I get hit with import duty then the total cost of £230 will still be cheaper than anywhere in the UK so, like every other Tamiya R/C kit I have ever got from them, it is worth taking the risk.
  8. And some people said a re-re SRB would never sell!
  9. Did the original 1979 chassis not have those holes also? They might have just used the old mould as a template.
  10. Tamiya are releasing the bodyset as a spare part so it's highly unliklely to be a limited release. Also early demand for the kit seems to be very high so a second production run seems probable.
  11. If your prepared to get just a rollling chassis why not just fork out for a brand new Rough Rider (Buggy Champ '09) re-release and stick a blitzer shell on it?
  12. Stella now have it.....erm, oh dear no they dont. http://www.stellamodels.net/catalog/produc...roducts_id=4088 Also $268 + $78 shipping makes this ~£213. Not cheap for an import kit. I really wish I'd got my backside into gear and pre-ordered from RC Champ now. Must admit the demand for this kit has even surprised me.
  13. I hope so, because RC Champ have now allocated for both the first and second batch and are not taking any more pre-orders. On a positive note this kind of demand can only make a Scorcher re-release more likely.
  14. There is no way it will cost £70 to import from the likes of Stella, RC Champ and JR-RC. Infact Jason only charges £60 for the full option Knight Hauler, which must weigh nearly twice that what a Buggy Champ will.
  15. Was in the supermarket today, noticed that "Stuff", the UK gadget & tech magazine has a feature on the Rough Rider, and the collecting of vintage Tamiyas. Goes on to lavish praise on Mr Tamiya for his revolutionising of the R/C market with the RR and says that getting an old one on ebay will cost £1000. Then mentions that the BC '09 will cost a "mere" £300. Highlights the 58001 934, Scorcher and latest TT01E Nissan GTR as other kits worth collecting. A good little article worth watching out for.
  16. I see, so the counter bevel gear is loose inside the box and wearing through the case? Makes sense if the plastic end piece is not attached to the shaft to stabilise it.
  17. What is the 'bulge' that is being described then?
  18. Wait...so one of the gears has managed to punch through the gearbox casing? Wow, that's a new one, would never have thought there would be enough internal force for that to happen.
  19. I emailed them about it last week and got no reply. Slightly worrying, I might have to give them a miss and go with RC Champ if there is no news within the next week.
  20. The release of a bodykit as a spare part suggests this is hardly a limited production kit.
  21. Oh dear. I was just gonna pre-order from them today too. How many kits would have been in that first batch?
  22. He's the guy who finds yet another vintage NIB kit from 25 years ago just when you thought the world had finally been exhausted of them all. I swear that guy has secretly got a time machine.
  23. Any further news on price and availability date?
  24. You think so? I couldn't think of a worse time to go for one.
  25. Just had a look on the bay.....dont think I've ever seen so many Scorcher/Ranger shelf queens available at the same time LOL.
