  1. When writing out text for my showroom I break it up into paragraphs...yet when I upload it the text is all placed together without the paragraphs! What do I need to do???
  2. Ouch! £1K for that! And I thought my Turbo Mid was pricey at £300. Mind you if money was no object I would be having that Optima cos they really are as rare as hen's teeth.
  3. The first thing I learned is that with a mechanical speed controller you wont have any low and middle speeds without the wires plugged into the resistors. I was in a state of panic all those years ago when testing my new built Hotshot and only the high speed would work. [] Probably the most important thing I learned though is that when running a car that uses the Ni-Cad battery to also power the servos, make sure when the power has visibly dropped you stop using the car, ie DONT let it run until you lose control of it!....resulting in your lovely new toy heading for the main road and all of those full sized cars ready to flatten it into the ground! []
  4. Loving the gold bits on that Hornet. Very Bling but very nice!
  5. Hmm, well a quick look through my spare parts has made me realise that the last wishbone that failed was infact the one on the other side so luckily I dont have to fork out another £20 on yet another set of 'F' parts. Lets see how long this one lasts eh?!! [^o)]
  6. Here's a closer look at the damage. The previous wishbone failed in the exact same place. Grrrrr!![:@] Anyone else suffered a similar fate??
  7. [:'(] [:'(][:'(] My Hotshot shelf queen, new built from out of the box and having never turned a wheel in anger in all of it's life, has now just gone through two offside-front lower wishbones. The car barely gets touched apart from the odd flex of the suspension to give it a different look when sitting on the shelf...and yet it would seem that this is enough to weaken them at the area which locates to the front damper. I came in from work the other day to find the car looking like this... (see pic below) I presume that this weakening is merely due to exposure to sunlight and air over the last 20 years, combined with a lack of "working" of the plastic?? I have no evidence to back it up but I believe that a part is actually somehow strengthened by getting a bit of a workout on a car, rather than just sitting doing nothing over the course of it's life span. After all my Hotshot runner has had no such problems and that car has had plenty of action on the road. Anyway that's a THIRD 'F' tree that will have been on this car. I think I will keep it in the dark from now on!!!!! []
  8. Well I say do the best of both worlds! Without doubt build it but then put it on a shelf, fork out another £150 - £200 and get a good runner. Sorted. You've then had the experience of building it from out of the box but have non of the guilt of ruining a rare a piece of R/C history.
  9. Not so strange when you consider the following... Back in the 1980s the evil geniuses at Tamiya developed a powerful transmitter that they now use to beam "Tamiya lust" radio waves into our brains when we reach 30. But where is the receiver that picks up these radio waves you might ask... well that's simple, it's hidden in a tiny microchip embedded in every Tamiya E-clip, ever had an E-clip ping off somewhere and you can't find it ? That's because it shoots up your nose and into your BRAIN were it lays dormant until your 30th birthday !! Dammit, so that's what the rattling sound in my head has been for the last 21 years! []
  10. I'm 34 in earth years...and approximately 21 spiritually! A psychologist would have a field day on us, working out why we are all turning back the clock 20 years. Isn't it strange the way people almost develop a sixth sense and head for the same movement without any obvious prompting?
  11. Well I run the TEU-101BK ESC in my Hotshot runner and have no problems with overheating or damage...oh apart from when I drove it in snow and temporarily ruined it! A few minutes drying with a hairdryer sorted that out though. And I agree with Shodog. Regardless of what you do, leave the old heatsinks on the rollcage cos they are one of the nicest and most defining parts of a Hotshot.
  12. From what I've been watching lately Hotshot prices are climbing again (Supershots even more so!) but on average you will pay about £300 - £350 for a NIB. A New-Built shelf queen sold for £220 last week on Ebay. If you want to take the cheap option though a good used runner can easily be bought for less than £100. NIB BigWigs go for less than Hotshots, something which makes little sense to me because there are far less of them around, they are very unique in design and are also the 10th anniversary model. Having said that I have noticed that BigWig runners seem to fetch more than Hotshot runners. Dont know about New-Builts though.
  13. No problem. To be honest it has taken me this long just to get round to start putting all my R/C stuff in my showroom, and I've been a subscriber for a while now. I have'nt even looked at TCPhotos yet so have no real idea what it is and what it can do, but now that I know I can put my other stuff at least somewhere I certainly will do so. Cheers.
  14. Well I think you might have just broken your speed record. The Top Force that you sent last Saturday arrived on the Monday at 12:10pm...That is two days (or ZERO British working days) for a kit to arrive from the other side of the world, with no duty charge to pay once again. Quite mind-boggling service. Many thanks for another great kit!
  15. So have the Frog, Hornet, Grasshopper and Lunch Box been discontinued too??
  16. Keyboard warriors....the scourge of the Internet. It would be interesting to see if they were so mouthy sitting face to face.
  17. That's naughty!...I think so long as Netsmith doesn't put a block on it in this thread I will give it a go.
  18. I have a couple of items that I would like to post in my showroom, not R/C related but definitely vintage from the 1980s, which I think would be of interest (and I just want to show em off anyway) to other members. I've looked through other people's showrooms and there is plenty of stuff listed there under 'Miscellaneous>Other' that is not at all related to R/C so my stuff should be perfectly fine...but I just wanted to make sure before I posted it that I aint breaking the rules. It's an old Lego set and a Raleigh bicycle that I want to display. Can I go for it?
  19. Hmm, I only seem to be able to post one photo from my hard drive at a time. Is that normal? Here's another!
  20. Recently browsing through the TC Home page I came across this movie by scorchersandwich. http://www.tamiyaclub.com/moviecomment.asp...2&uid=12355 Now before this point I did'nt really understand the fuss about the Sand Scorcher. It was never really one of the cars that stood out for me back in the 1980's, but perhaps that was because I got into the hobby as the SRBs were being discontinued. Well anyway one viewing of this movie and all of that changed and a quick look on Ebay saw this auction........ http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...item=6046410618 ......closing within minutes.....so you know whats coming next dont ya??!! Yep, bought it on the spur on the moment and that was another £170 I am down on thanks to T.C. Anyway here are a few pics of my baby. The body is intact but the paintwork aint great and anyway I want to repaint it in box art colours. So how many others have viewed people's showrooms and impulse bought something just like me??
  21. Any idea of how much your price will be for this model??
  22. Any more news on the Top Force re-stock? Really want one of these to add to my collection.
