@cyclonecap Thank you very much for your detailed response and those are all very good points, most of which I hadn't thought of. Insurance is available through ROAR, but everyone would need to be a ROAR member to use their insurance for events, which is an extra cost that is hard to swallow right now so we will likely do regular commercial insurance, I am currently working on this. I had already been doing some club branded prizes for some of the events, but was hoping to get some items donated by manufacturers or hobby shops or even individuals for events. I picked up a TT01 Subaru to sell raffle tickets on to raise money for next winters indoor racing, we will be looking to buy carpet and barriers over the summer. @sosidge Great insights, as well. Perhaps just focusing on the racing, and not worrying about the details will help get it started and keep it fun at the same time, keeping the classes a little looser to get people into it, and then sub-divide into proper classes when people are ready for it and we have the numbers to do so. We get new racers every week, so far, and we are hoping to keep that trend going for a while. Most people in the area that are into RC just do crawling, trail-running, and plain bashing, some aren't interested in racing, some, I presume, are nervous about joining. I did pick up an Easy Lap timing system which seems to be working out well enough for now. Transponders are pretty cheap and we do have a FBook group setup with the transponder info posted there. I appreciate both of yours input and I will take your advice and see what happens, or as we say "See how she goes" :) Thank you and Happy Racing

Hello Everyone, Thanks to all you wonderful people and the British invasion of RC channels on Youtube like Tomley, Talbot, Gavin and others, we have started a local racing club and hold biweekly fun races at a recreation center. There hasn't been a club in our remote location in Canada before so I have no one to reference or get information/advice from, so I was wondering if someone in the crowd has any experience in this role? With the summer approaching, we will be holding weekly outdoor events for onroad, offroad and drag - no, not that kind I was wondering if anyone could offer any advice on running the events, setting up sponsorships, or any other crucial information to large racing events themselves, such as point systems or prizes to qualifying, championships etc. Or feel free to share any other tidbits I might need that I don't even know I need to know (unknown unknowns as they say). Thank you all, and Happy Racing!
