  1. Today i felt a bit nostalgic, because i found one of my 1/24 Slot Cars and control handle! In the early 80's, i raced these cars at my local club which had a big nice long 8-track lane. Even some competitions, our track was approved for official competition races. I built my cars at the club, here is a picture of the car i found, with the Parma controller also: My club track was like this one: These cars where unbelievable fast. If i remember correctly, the lap times on our track was like 2 to 2.5 seconds. Yes, seconds! Maybe even down to under 2 seconds. If you has never seen these cars in action here is a (very long!) youtube video from current days. Fast-forward to 1.56.30 to see the cars in an actual race. 2022 Slot Car World Championship of Wing Cars - Class: Group 7 - Piranha Speedway & Hobbies - MOD… - YouTube Its a bit funny, but as you can see, there is almost only old men like me that still into this hobby also!
  2. Today i did a find that i thought was lost years ago. The 3 other pinion and spur gears! The Datsun came with 4 pinions and spurs for different gear ratios, and i was very happy to find the other 3!
  3. Back in my teens in the -80s, i remember i charged the NiCd from a car 12V battery charger! But with a high wattage resistor in the plus wire, to reduce/control the charging current
  4. I hooked the motor up after the first charge (6 hours or so), and the motor ran like 12 min at good speed before slowing down. Amazing! There seems to be some life in the battery after 35 years not been charged! edit: second charge and the motor ran 36 min before slowing down.
  5. Yes, i see some similar things! But i must say the Saab looks nicer to me! But, i'm biased, as i am from Sweden
  6. Great info! I'm on charging at 0.1A now The label on the battery says standard charging time 14-16 hours, i assume this is at a very low charging current then.
  7. Thanks! Then i think i dare to charge it more Trickle Charge, is that charging at low current, like i do now with 0.1A ?
  8. Now i have done some reading on my Minicars XII, and it seems to be very similar to the BoLink Challenger, Slotcar Mirage T and Minicars XII Competition. Anyone have any info/manuals/instructions on these 3? I like to try to get it up and running again, so any form of manual/instruction/info would be very nice!
  9. I charged the battery very gentle at just 0.1A in like 20 min or so, didnt dare more if it gonna explode or something! And the voltage is now stable at 5V Anyone have experience in old NiCd, would you dare to charge it more?
  10. Today i found my old Tamiya Hump Pack! 7.2V 1200 mAh NiCad. Is there any chance at all that you can get life in it again? The last time it was charged was in 1986-87 or so..... edit: I measured the voltage in the battery to 2.55V I was surprised it was any voltage at all in it!
  11. If the car doesnt have any rear differential, like my Datsun, is that a factor to decide the level of Ackerman?
  12. Juggular, That was an very good explanation of Ackerman, now i think i got it, tnks!!! So a little bit of Ackerman is a good thing to have, even in my old Datsun!
  13. Ok, is it maybe for the car to steer in better in curves then?
  14. Thnks! So the wheels turns in different angles to each other! But, why is that a benefit?
  15. When working on my Datsun, i see that you can adjust Ackerman on it. I think i understand Toe-in, Toe-out, Caster and Camber. But Ackerman? i dont really understand that, and what is it suppose to handle?
  16. Splendid! Then i can use the same transmitter to both my cars! The dumbo receiver dont costs much at all
  17. Ahh, OK, i see what you mean...You want to print it on paper i guess then? But if you rightclick on the pics, you can save it as 8 separate .jpg files. A bit easier to print.
  18. The homemade steering rod put in, i think its gonna work. Also note the poor mans BEC with 2 very nice soldered diodes, and the very high quality diy steering servo mounting posts! Now i have to start building me a Tamiya 7.2V Hump Pack battery.
  19. I think its here on Tamiya Club: 99993: Parts from OCD showroom, 53099 Manta Ray FRP Double-Deck Chassis Set (DF01/TA01) - Tamiya RC & Radio Control Cars (tamiyaclub.com)
  20. What a collection you have! I'm jealous!! I wish i had only one of them.
  21. Tamiya must have a great value for money, because i'm still working on my Datsun from 1980.
  22. Cool! I wasnt aware of Mario raced the Lotus 79 in Martini livery! This must have been in the 1979 championship then, thnks!!
  23. Today i felt a bit proud, because i managed to start making me a new steering rod out of an old bicycle wheel spoke i found in my garbage collection I think this will do:
  24. On AE you can get the Hobbywing 3A UBEC at 2,61 Euro. Is it genuine or a chines clone one wonder then...
