I picked up a Citroen DS body, and it came with dogbones to widen the track width of an MB-01 in front to match the real car. Anyone have any notions for how I might do that on the XM-01?

I picked up a Citroen DS body for my XM-01, and the instructions say to use the included hubs and dogbones in front because the full scale car has a wider track in front than in the rear. Problem is that those parts are for the MB-01, and nowhere in the paperwork or that I can find on the website is it listed how much wider the front track is than the rear. I figure I might be able to use wheels with an offset in the front, but I don't know how much of an offset I'm looking for. Anyone have a way to get the correct measurements?

They have (indirectly). You can just download both manuals, and option parts sheets and compare.
XV-02 Manual:

XM-01 Manual:

XV-02 Option Parts:

XM-01 Option Parts:

I've never seen the option part sheets on the Tamiya website! I generally go to the page for the chassis and click the link to spare parts or option parts, and currently the link to option parts is blank.

I'm surprised that after 4 months we haven't seen more spares released for this, YeahRacing has released a few upgrades before Tamiya has even released the chassis as a spare.
I figure that the least they could do is publish a list of which parts it has in common with the XV-02.

I think we should petition Schumacher to make M-Chassis SST Mini Pins. That's what I've been using on my XV-02 and they're perfect for the dirt track I run on. I'd love to get the same grip from my XM-01.

Size used in xm01?
My 6000mah racing packs with bullets fit fine, as well as my Protek rounded lipo, because both cables are near the center. None of my other hardcase lipos fit due to the cables being at the corners, not do my packs with a higher capacity.

Anyone find a heatsink that fits? I just ran mine with a Sport Tuned motor with a 28t pinion and the motor is hot enough to burn. Though to be fair I think my gear mesh is too tight.

Do you think the XV-01 Stabilizer Set would fit on the XM-01?

Are there maximum dimensions for the batteries mentioned in the manual? Can anyone of post them here? I'm not at home now but saw a great deal on some batteries hence the question.
I don't know about dimensions, but I can tell you that my Lectron Pro batteries don't fit because the cables are on the corners. My rounded ProTek battery with the cables in the center fits fine, as do both of my racing packs with bullets.

Finally had the chance to run my XM-01 on a dirt track yesterday, and the rear end was a bit looser than I'd like. Do any of you have a source for softer springs that will fit these mini shocks? I'm in the US, but I don't have a problem with ordering from overseas.

What lipos are you guys running? Mine is almost done but I noticed that my Lectron Pro 2s won't work because there's no room for the balance cable.

Has anyone in the states who pre-ordered an XM-01 received the kit yet? They seem to have reached all the other corners of the world...except us.
Mine arrived at the shop on Monday here in Michigan.

For me I'd vote for the XV-02. Used mine a lot with a 10.5t and it's been absolutely faultless.
Are you still running the stock plastic steering parts? Everybody around me who got one broke the steering parts in the first week or two.

My M-05 worked just fine bone stock.
I was going to say that my XV-02 did as well, but then I remembered that I broke the steering bellcrank on the very first day.

I have an issue with my XV02 where the tie rod end keeps popping off the ball. On the race on Sunday, it happened in the middle of two of the three qualifiers and in the main as well.
I've replaced the ends a few times with both the standard black ends and the grey low friction ends, and I'm still having the same issue. I was thinking about using the Traxxas style with a screw going through a metal ball in the end. Can't find any Traxxas ends for 3mm, and I seriously doubt they make any short enough anyway. Have any of you done this mod to an XV-02? Which brand did you use? I know Yeah Racing makes some alloy ones, but I'm afraid they'll be too long.

@RallyX If it's a body you like, I'd finish it and run it as display. Drive your car concourse style (within your driving limits) so you don't crash and enjoy watching your model in motion. I do that all the time.
GL with your decision.
Some folks frowned when I told them I'm driving my XV01 with the Delta body.. I've driven it countless times outside without crashing.. so it still looks perstine. I drive my MIniCooper and the other Delta too.
It's the whole not crashing thing that I have to work on!

One of the first body sets I bought for my TT-02 when I got into RC rally last year was the Datsun 240Z rally. It got banged up pretty quickly when I was learning to race, so I was on the lookout for a replacement when I discovered it had been discontinued. I did manage to find another at a little hobby shop in Ypsilanti MI but I've been afraid to paint it and put it on my XV-02 because who knows if I'll be able to find another?
It's probably my favorite body aside from the also discontinued Escort RS Cosworth I had the last time I was getting into RC back in 99, but I'm seeing them sell for double what I paid on eBay.
Should I keep it and use it or sell it for a profit? Do you think there's a chance that Tamiya might rerelease it?

Or just buy the VerII chassis 54605
Did this on my golf as well for the same reason.
Oh awesome! That's exactly what I was hoping!

Dang, that sucks. Guess I'll have to buy a new battery then.
-
Does anyone know if the current reissue of the M05 Golk Mk1 has the V2 chassis that will accept rectangular LiPo batteries? Or is it using the original chassis with the oval cutout?
-
By the way, I ended up getting a set of Eagle Racing bell cranks off of eBay, and they're fantastic! About the same price as the Yeah Racing, but they seem to be higher quality. Less slop than the original parts, too.

What battery are people using? I'm still deciding whether to go XV01 or XV02. I have a few shorty lipos from my B6 race buggy and it seems to make sense to run a short pack pushed to the front with the XV02.
I’m using a shorty lipo in mine, pushed forward with a block of foam.

Would love to try out xv02 in the near future!
I'm super happy with it! Handles worlds better than my rally-spec TT02, and especially on dirt it looks very scale going around the track and kicking the rear end out in the turns.

Personal liveries - let's see 'em!

I've been doing some variation of this livery since last year. Didn't realize at first that it's the retro Toyota color scheme, but that just means that my rally and GT Pro Spec cars will just have to be Toyotas from now on (once I inevitably destroy the Ford GT MkII body).
