Hi all, I'm giving my Hotshot runner a complete overhaul....Does anyone have any ideas on the best/easiest way to de-grease the gearboxes? Thanks for any assistance. Cheers, Drew.

G'day, My rarest is my Turbo Scorpion, one of the best looking buggies ever. http://www.tamiyaclub.com/showroom_model.a...=26319&sid=4565 'Probably need to take some better photos to show off this stunning minter though. Cheers, Drew. -
G'day all, Does anyone have a list of ball bearing sizes and quantities to fully ballrace a Hotshot? I can't remember which size to replace the 5mm metal bearings in the gearboxes with. Cheers for the help, Drew.

Hi all, I was hoping one of the many good blokes and top sheilas out there might have a TA02 motor mount they are prepared to part with. I would lurve one of the alloy hop up variety but I'd also settle for the standard placky one. Cash or trade, new or used, I don't mind too much, but it's going on a shelfer so it needs to be in reasonably good condition. Cheers, Drew.

"Toys" deserve a little credit sometimes.

Maybe as society has become more disposable, quality of product has become less of a consideration because hey, you just chuck it out and buy another $20 'Hua Pang' car..... It perhaps doesn't foster the attachment to a car that can be repaired if you go and buy another cheapie. There's no reason for kids to pull one apart and try to re-solder battery leads, PCB, motor...whatever. Especially if, as you say, you have a generic, four wheeled thing that sort of looks like a car but has no real emotional pull (Like a Porsche or Ferrari or Jeep for that matter). Its a shame 'cause I used to love pulling things apart to find out how they worked....or why they weren't working. By the same token my first RC was a Tandy (Radio Shack) Wild Willy knock-off, and apart from a small difference in performance, I actually think had more scale realism than the Tamiya model...I loved that jeep....mater of fact, I think I might go and have a look in the shed!! LOL. Cheers, Drew. -
Any car is only worth what someone else is prepared to pay for it! Do a search of completed listings on Ebay. Cheers, Drew.

Agreed Darren, I hate chatrooms where people flame each other all the time so the 'keep it civil' is indeed an important sentiment but I could have referenced some different posts from earlier in the discussion that, the way I read them, were fairly blunt in ripping into him...maybe that wasn't the intent behind them....but that is the way they came accross to me. That is the difficulty with saying things in forums, you can be mis-interpreted sometimes. You and the other moderators do a great job, but without seeing his deleted post in response it appears to me (as an outsider to the dispute) he was dealt with harshly for defending himself. Thats just my opinion and the beauty of the internet is the ability for me to express my opinion freely...and civilly of course. Cheers, Drew.

Oh, I also think that the re-release discussion is becomeing a bit tiresome.....we'll just have to wait and see. I am excited about what might be released and what is being released though.

I also am curious as to where you got your information - as I have heard nothing of what you mention.......... As I posted in another forum where you mention your "inside" information, too many people are talking out their rear ends and speculating and making bold "predictions". If your sources are genuine, then great...... Still no reason for you (or anyone for that matter), to sell of your collection.......obviously it is up to you though. The XR311 was a TOTAL FAILURE for Tamiya. The distributors here were clearing them out at just over 40 uSD just to get rid of them....... Cheers Darryn id="quote">id="quote">Darren, I don't think he was being 'that' sarcastic, but to be honest, I thought the treatment he got in this forum was poor. All he did was post relaying some information that had been sent to him in emails from Tamiya, and everyone else basically told him to pretty much 'get his hand off it',that he was talking rubbish and essentially posting 'fake' information. He didn't even start the thread. I reckon I would have been annoyed too. Thats just my 2 bob...... Cheers, Drew.

V8 Supercars Bathurst 2005!
Drewboyaus replied to Tipsy's topic in Anything not RC related goes here
I'm fairly sure someone had a fatal 290+km/h smash at the end of Conrod during practise years ago, and I think they wanted to try to limit the terminal velocity down there at the bottom of the mountain. I can only imagine some of the speeds the V8 supercars would be hitting these days at the bottom of Conrod straight if Caltex Chase wasn't there! Have you lads raced the circuit in TOCA (or as it's known here V8 Supercars 2)on Xbox or Playstation? That is a lot of fun indeed...... -

Oh Jim Richards is unbeievable, still drives his own Semi to the track, drives a racing Kenworth, and has owned the Targa Tasmania in a 911 GT3 for the last 7 years.....he's nearly 60! 'oh, and about the wastegate chirping on his Cossie, why did he lift??' Because otherwise he would have been like all the other overseas drivers and put it into the wall at the top....He didn't win the race nine times for nothing. [] BTW, you can be executed in Australia for making statements like that about Brocky[] Wireless, mate, you almost brought a tear to my eye with that post and that video footage.....You need to be presented with an honorary Four'n'Twenty(meat pie) and VB just for that...LOL[] Excellent! Drew. -
Crikey, I had a look at this thread earlier today, and nobody had posted for ages. So I just logged on tonight to see if anyone was interested in a fang and 'Bob's you're uncle' here we are. I'd be down for that, my potential runners at the moment are Fox, Frog, Hotshot and Dynastorm. 'We goin off road or what??????? Could also do on road too, but I'm a bit of a spaz driver and there's not much margin for error with the on-roads....Ha-ha. There seem to be more Aussie/Kiwi members and subscribers now too.

They're the white plastic rings that slot into the wheels, axles etc.... Cheers, Drew.

Thanks.

Hi all. Does anyone know what the part number is for the front one way for the TA02 chassis? Is it 53200? Can I use it with a ball dif or not? Cheers, Drew.

Thanks Willy i'll give them a try......

V8 Supercars Bathurst 2005!

I love the Targa Tassie...It's everything Australian touring car racing used to be....Remember the Suzuki swift GTis going around with Cosworth Sierras, M3's and 'Dunny doors'. Sad really, I used to love the 'Great Race' once upon a time and I do like the V8's, but they really need to inject some diversity into the race..I hate watching 2 brands going round in circles now! Cheers, Drew. -
'Just found an awesome carpark around the corner from my house. Its huge, and because it belongs to a local sporting club is only used on one day per weekend...for parking cars that is![] I have been running my mock Taisan 911 which is a hopped up TA03 chassis. 'Trouble is with the slicks on, it's like driving on ice...Not being an R/C racing guru, does anyone else have any ideas for the best tyres to use? The carpark surface is a fairly smooth asphalt. Cheers for the help. Drew.

Crikey!! I'm not that interested in the re-releases, I prefer my originals (even if their value will depreciate - I don't collect for investment purposes) but I'll be getting a Frog re-release to run and maybe a Topforce....But I tell you what, I'd be first in line if there were Bruisers or Mountaineers on offer. 'Never really into them as a kid, but my appreciation for them is enormous as an adult!

A new rumor on Tamiya's re-release plan (scoop)

quote:Originally posted by DJTheo quote:Originally posted by WandyI'm quite sure we'll see the Hotshot in some form (possible Hotshot/Hotshot II hybrid?) next year but the Supershot was fitted with the Technipower motor so that could hinder it's release. Still, it's only a motor and it would seem a bit silly to put off a re-release just for this reason. They could fit a modern high performance motor and it would still sell in droves. id="quote">id="quote">Also Dyna Storm re-re had a different motor then the original which didn't have any and the re-re 14T motor is different to the recommended Acto Power of the original one. Cheers id="quote">id="quote">Theo, I thought the Dynastorm re-release came with the pink Acto Power motor, I'm almost certain my NIB does...I'll need to go and check now. I have been told a couple of times too that the re-released Dynastorm is in fact left over stock of the original that they found in a container at Tamiya. That is why it was only ever sold through Tamiya in the uSA...they only had a small quantity to sell. Or so I heard. Cheers, Drew. -
ELO or 'Easy Lift Off' works well also. It comes in a bottle that you should be able to get from your LHS. Only really good for small areas, but very effective. Cheers, Drew.
