I got to 50 with a 3s, 3600kv,75:31 spur to pinion the other day. Am looking to find an alternate spur hub that could be modified to fit, so I can try mounting other brands. Been tearing up spur gears recently and had massive slop in the drive shaft. Took me a week to realize that at one point when I was changing bearings, I mistakenly put 10mm instead of 11's on the prop shaft cups. The 50mph was on the too small bearings. Thankfully the rings and pinions on both ends didn't get damaged, just wasted 15 bucks or so on spurs that were getting worn at an angle. Lesson learned for me to double check my measurements when swapping parts. Put in new proper sized bearings and it's running as smooth as can be now.

You've got me beat on speed at the moment. But I'm still on a 2850kv with 63/22. Motor and gears are my definite next step. I'm hitting 26 max on 2s at the moment and 37 on 3s. Yeah I'm worried about how hard it's going to be to get it as centered as possible. I've upgraded steering and knuckles, adjusted toe in for the back wheels, but I'm sure one it gets really going keeping it straight is going to be difficult. I'm thinking gyro is going to help along with probably shimming steering to get rid of the play. I think high torque servo to hold it center may be a need at some point too. I'm interested to compare notes and share what I know and have since if you're up for it.

Thanks for the heads up on that. I'm actually looking right now at some gear generator sites to get dimensions, pitch, tooth count, and then planning to look at getting some either printed in tough resin, or machined to spec. I think I'm over trying to mix and match and will try to just run custom dimension gears

Thanks, didn't think about the contact issue with going too small on the spur, but definitely makes sense. I actually am running the tb05 63t spur at the moment with a 24t .6 pinion, but there are so few options in that size. Ideally I'm hoping I can land somewhere in the low 40s for a spur and high 30s for pinion, just not ready to cut out the top of the cover to fit the bigger pinions yet. Have been going through all of the stew-mac, kaizertest, and a few others I've found on YouTube that seem to give a lot, but not exact specific details on the setups. If I can get to 60mph on 2s, I'll start being really happy other side I'm working through at the moment is figuring out what motor/esc I'm going to end up on. Immediately dumped the stock tamiya, went 10bl120, with a 2850kv I had lying around. So definitely need to up my kv, just don't want to spend Castla Mamba money hahaha. Thinking of stealing my max10 hobbywing 140amp out of my crawler and buying a 5400kv to use on it. Only have a 3300kv motor to go with that one right now though.

Thanks for the feedback! Yeah I'm definitely going low tooth count spur to avoid having to shave or cut out the spur cover. Arrowmax is one I've looked at but hadn't ordered. Will give them another look. Seems in the US that outside of tamiya branded, there's just limited compatibility for spur mounting, which I totally get.. I mean I don't think they ever intended for people to really go too far outside of their ecosystem, since they're the low cost entry level sets. But kind of why I'm also on this path of how fast can I really make a car that wasn't meant to go more than about 20mph go I'll be happy if I start hitting 60mph, and am hoping to break into the 100mph plus club some day

You are my hero! I've seen the Kimbrough ones and noticed they have a good low tooth count, and that misaligned hole pattern did lead me to think that 2 screws would work. But like you, ocd wants 4 screws. Punching and drilling makes perfect sense and I've got a drill press to drill, just need to get smaller punches then. I'm going to give these a shot as amain ships quick to me. I've spent way too much on testing these random spurs.. was so close when I ordered Schumacher one, but they just weren't quite the right spacing on the holes. Really appreciate the feedback and definitely going to go this route

I'm at a loss. I've been trying trial and error with ordering 64p and 48p spurs that look like they are compatible with the tt02 high speed gear adapter. Can anyone recommend a compatible spur in the US? I've heard 3racing and rw racing make compatible ones, but can't seem to find which model exactly. Trial and error ordering from the uk to texas just sounds too expensive. So please, if anyone has experience with running 64p or 48p gears in a tt02, please help me understand what I need to be doing. Not sure if there just another drive line setup that might work better, or if there's known brand and models that are compatible with the adapter. Thanks in advance. I'm just trying to do speedrunning with a tt02 and I'm kind of at a point that I really need to start gearing up significantly.
