  1. I spent some time, aaah, shopping today. Not for shoes though but tyres for Juniors' SCX24 Jeep. Was a bit fiddly to find something that might fit under the Jeep body, except the standard ones. We'll see if it turns out fine. And then Dad took a dive into the Healthy Racing section, buying a pinion, a fan and a 380ST. We'll see in which car it ends up. Brat or GHII?
  2. "We're only in it for the money", right?
  3. Sweet find! To me it seems that the paint isn't all that heavily put on, so it might be easier to rescue - and as @MadAnt writes, a bit of sanding and primer might be the way to go.
  4. Altair-4 is sort of left of Betelgeuse, and well there, then you have to either take the stairs down (annoying and bad for your knees) or put up with some hairy fellows in the elevator (not my thing either). And then, you still have to get through the gate, faff with the grumpy dragon who always bothers you for a tip ("got a dime to spare, puny human?"). Once inside, it's all cool. Any e-clips reappears magically, and the cat snoozes peacefully on top of the larder which is full of lesser-known hopups, such as Mad Ax' Beerless Beer (indispensable for wet pavements in Essex), or the Saito Rabbit Punch (extra power when cornering) or Re-Buggeds' Top Dog (for those who want to stay in the lead, all alone) or Skom25 - the Flourine Candy bar (always handy for some long runs). There is a lot in there, and a bunch of hopupd I have never dared to touch, much less speak of ... Just beware of the Conrad - that's heavy stuff, dudes. Only for wizards, you know. Keep to the right and eventually you will end up west of a small house.
  5. Now I understand your complaints about having to schlep the Scania truck when it has broken down ... some good excercise in there, though!
  6. I love the Build threads - and even if it is a bog-standard TT-02, there could still be details/things I never thought of, or ways to describe something in a funny way or the photos - there is a lot of ways to work. I find the Builds open up conversations, bring in oddball ideas and function like a compost heap - new things sprout. Some threads have been going on for long, like @ThunderDragonCy and his "take a clunker and make it into a racer" Builds. Or @Mad Ax and the Scania Rally Truck. You come along with the trials and tribulations, learn a bit on the way about this and that, and come away with more energy. Or at least I do. And there are others, too many to mention, that have done Builds, even short and sketchy (?) ones that I have enjoyed. What the forum in general also has is a signal-to-noise ratio that is very good; If you need information, with a bit of search-fu, you can often find it. And if not, there will almost always be someone nice answering my dumb question.
  7. Some good action there, @Mouc-RC. For some reason, it reminds me of cheese, but maybe I am just hungry?
  8. Since it is a TRF product, maybe it gives you a millisecond or two less in a controlled race setting - enough to win the gold medal.
  9. Probably quite easy build then, with a bit of growling and 1/32 notes ...
  10. Sorry about your dad, @Wooders28. A mixed bag all that I would assume, with your 50th coming up ... - but cheers to that one! And here's to that Avante, just to keep the spirits up.
  11. What stuns me is the sheer variety of stuff Tamiya has put out (and still do). I love the quirkiness (mostly) and the wealth of ideas within the Tamiya ecosystem, coming from the users but also from the mix'n'match philosophy that gives us dogbones (or whatever spare part it is) that fits a range of vehicles. All for us to figure out some oddball schemes.
  12. Wow, well done! Gotta love the undercarriage lights ... that was a big thing on hotrodded Volvo Amazons (type 122) back home (Sweden) in the days.
  13. Aah, you Norsemen raiding the foodstores! - is it Strömstad then? Me, I am slowly trying to get through the long slog of days, hoping for some sun to get some RC painting done. One of these days, I am going to go fruitbat crazy and buy me a Fat Fox body to keep me occupied with cutting and painting and stickering ... Have a nice weekend, everyone!
  14. I asked a similar question a while ago (I ended up with a CR-01 and save the plasic drive shafts, I am happy with it): In hindsight, given the hilarious amounts of money I've spent on this project, I should've bought the Gmade BOM that I wanted all along. For scale, a CC-02 isn't a bad thing to get if you want to keep it Tamiya, have a look at this:
  15. For whatever it's worth from a beginner, I score and snap, using a Tamiya 74040 knife. It's important to keep a sharp blade when doing this, so I change it pretty often. Coming from handtool woodworking, a dull knife blade is dangerous, getting into using too much force and doing silly stuff to get where you want. I mark the cut line with a thin black marker, and use good light to work in. I am going to try @skom25s advice with the masking tape just to see if that works better for me. I sanding using whatever sandpaper I have at hand (600 grit) and an empty spray can (PS-1). Scissors sometimes for very large cuts.
  16. Eeep ... now that was a crazy one! 🥳
  17. @GToddC5 - is the Bronco body on a Clod Buster? I saw a Bronco used on a CW-01chassis the other day - also looked great.
  18. Such a good job, @Torhaantje! It really shows how much you enjoyed building it.
  19. @El Gecko - as the motor has flames on it, no wonder it's a hot one!
  20. Aah, you know how it is with five-year olds, huh? Getting their hands on anything dangerous ...
  21. I surprised myself by finding myself upstairs with a sharp knife, cutting a lexan body. How did this happen I do not know. And I have no idea where to put it - it doesn't fit anything! 170-ish mm wide over the fenders (130 inside) and 220-ish wheelbase bug thingy. But practice is always good.
  22. Me too - I am still five years old, really. But I am pretty good at pretending to be an old man. Especially the "getting out of bed in the morning" routine, that's my top number.
  23. Friday again (again) ... I actually spent about three minutes doing RC stuff this week - a noticeable improvement! But for the weekend, I guess it is a bit of schlepping called for - the garden furniture should moved outside. It's nice when it is set up, but I never look forward to the moving/building bit. Apart from that, it's now Easter holidays, so that means the whole family is at home at the same time all day long - we'll see how that goes. Perhaps the weather stays good, then I can get some painting done (have a few bodies waiting). Need to relax, tool around - a bit exhausted from the daily crunch. @Andreas W - the barn looks good, but you'll need a bit o' rustic charm to the outside walls. And a pipesmoking grandpa fisherman sitting on a bench outside, mending nets wouldn't go amiss either. Love the windows. @Mad Ax - 4 hour endurance race ... I guess you've done your excercises regularly, the extra pushups, the 10 mile running? Sounds like an adventure, indeed.
  24. That it is suitable for kids older than 14 years, right?
