That's a cool one, @svenb! (not my sideways Escort, just helping out to show it for our resident Ford man)
The VW T1 sounds like a good companion to the Karmann, by the way.
@Tamiyastef - I assume we are talking about Seidel, right?

Ding-ding ... Friday, people!
Gerron up and do the ... garden work? The laundry? Oh no. Been there, done that and now it's Tamiya and coffee time!
I hope the caravan norwegians are well, and the gothic bathers are up to the usual shenanigans.
Me, I am probably scheduled for more garden work (weather conditions permitting) and the usual round-the-house during the weekend. I have a Kamtec "Granadus" shell to paint - need to pop off to the big box store and pick up some paint, and I still need to do a head job on Wilhelm "Willy" Schrott. Hopefully, I'll get a bit ahead on that.
So, have a great weekend, fellows!

Just good to know you are out there, hacking away at the scammers and the code base ...
Many thanks and tell us if you need help or ... I don't know ... chocolate?

Looking forward to see what you put on top of the M-02 (Karmann Ghia was my first thought). Thanks for showing us!

I like the convenience of uploading a quick photo from my local computer, but I've resorted to being a subscriber (as a an appreciation of all the work put in here) and so I've started to figure my way around TCphotos (which is included in that subscription if you want to use it). I am not exactly rich but to me the equivalence of a cheap servo or a couple of tyres a year is well invested money to me.
But I do think the (space limited) option of posting directly should be there. It's a good way to get new people in through the door, asking their first questions and perhaps having the need to post a photo of the thing they found in the barn.

Have you ever heard the story of the Brat, the Pumpkin and the Grasshopper? Oh young'uns, it's a strange yarn. Sit down here by the fire and hear me out ...
(well, not much of a zoo, eh?)

That ol' daredevil Willy ...
Looking forward to see some photos of how you set it all up, with the LRP and the battery holder. And the crazy driver, of course!

I won't guess at the model since @svenb has already called dibs, but I'll guess that the shall came from Kamtec?
Yes, it is indeed a Kamtec shell.
They have a lot of fun and quirky stuff.

Hey Jim,
A good friend of mine made a Blackfoot "racer" with Kydex. In my eyes, it's much more sexy than carbon fibre

(Sorry it's in French, but you don't need to translate the pictures
)
Oh la laaa ... I am not going to embarrass you with my almost-non-existent french, but that was a fine example of some Kydex put to good use! ORV and Kydex, that's a good match. I think. I'll save that for the future.

Then I misquoted the .jpg file ... I thought it was a Granada. Eep! Back to the schoolbench with me!
(admittedly, these shells aren't that detailed so maybe it would pass as a "Ford-thing")

Yes, there can be a good chunk of misalignment between halves.
I just wanted to report back on your tip. I read it yesterday, and just ran off upstairs to find a head (mrrowah), found one and set off to do some work. In short, it turned out much better this time, possibly partly due to me using a better (thicker) glue - last time I used the Tamiya thin cement. The milliputted version needs a lot more work in comparison.

Thanks both of you, @Mo Powah and @KILLorBE. It's just a test, for a (very distant) future "build your own car from scratch". I think I am going to make one bottom plate out of carbon and one out of Kydex to compare, using the 2 mm thickness and see what's what. It's for an onroad car (outdoors, tarmac).

This one is for our Tamiyaclub in-house Ford man. Hats off to Mr @svenb!
I guess just about everybody knows what model it is ...
Ideas for paint colour is always welcome!

Toddler spotted it on our bedroom wardrobe (usually he doesn't go into our room but the doors were open for the heat) so now he has taken it, and it lives with "his" monster truck, short course truck and GT1, all also "borrowed" by him.
Although our Junior is a bit older, I sure can relate! If I want to try to keep something, I have to bury it among other stuff or relocate it. And even that doesn't work ... "Dad, those rear tyres you have ..."

@Anthroxoid - there are many, many build threads here that span weeks, months and years. Some are slowly on-going, some move in fits and starts with years between. But it's great to read about the ups and downs, big stuff and small details. So keep on keeping on!
And get well, take as much time as you need and enjoy your build.

There must also be a good RC conversion scene with these? They do look awesome!
There is at least one video on YT (probably more, but I've only watched one!) and our resident @chris.alex did a fine job with an Unimog build.
EDIT: It was this thread I meant:

That ol' Pumpkinhead Willy - I am having a hard time squeezing him into the GHII 380 Schrott Racer (cable managment is a serious undertaking!). Thanks for some clues as how to get Wilhelm "Willy" Schrott into his junkyard racer.
By the way, do you also have the impression that the fit of the halves of the head is somewhat lacking? Or is it just mine - I've had to sand it down and have to use putty to get the helm a smooth surface. The overalls seems also a bit undefined in places.

Started painting my first ever wild willy driver figure, he’s going to go into my kamtec reliant
Now that's a good, cartoony mix! Looking forward to seeing the result.

Mixed bag yesterday, had some fun painting and trying not to rush the job. Less fun: after doing the paint job on the rims (budget racer shenanigans) I tried to get the new rear tyres on, and scratched the paint on the rears, and on the front ones, the outer rim broke (old and brittle). So I need to rethink things, since I am unable to find a replacement for the GH II front rims anywhere, unless I buy a complete new kit!
In other news, has anybody seen the hot new on-road TT-04? A certain resemblance to a Group C chassis, pieces of LEGO and vaguely DT-04 perhaps ... (Junior came up with the prototype).

I can get photos from an outside source (TCphotos, Flickr, etc) to show up (thanks to @Re-Bugged and his tutor skills), but I still can't get a local photo from my computer to show up.
I've done exactly what you just did, @Superluminal and this seems to work, as you write.
Here is the post from Mr Bug, in case someone needs it for linking from other sources than a local computer:

Replacing aluminium with carbon fibre part
in Build Tips and Techniques
Posted
I've been turning this about a bit in my head, and then I remembered I have some 2 mm Kydex that I bought for another project. It's white but I could use it for as a test piece. Just need to put it on the to-do-za list and actually get to this project, too ...
