Do I love the Wild Willy 2? Oh, yes!
Splendid paint job, @TexVan! I especially like the black hood - a relatively simple thing to do to make it stand out.
Just came to think of this build thread from @Yoshisaur with some nice tips on modifications:

Friday ... no time, no time ...
And the 13th on top of that!
This weekend is packing for a short holiday trip and then off on Sunday (my birthday and all, spending a bit of time on trains going somewhere is always good by me).
Good to get out from the kitchen-garden-washing machine routine ... it's been madness this week.
Have an excellent weekend, my friends (with beer, beerless beer or no beer)!
(Man, is this TC thing a good spot to hang out and keep sane!)

Any suggestions on the graphics… 🤔
My thought was just to keep the original style, but change the name of the van.
Another idea would be some sort of street graffiti style - Frankster as a tag name.
If I come up with anything else, I'll post a suggestion.
-
Why not throw the Free Candy out the window and rename it "Frankster" (now that oyu've done so much modifications)?

My involvement ends on Monday though, so normal programming should resume then.
I'll trundle off and do a large resupply of popcorn. Until then ...

That may have to do with the screwdriver/bit you're using, I'd recommend getting the Tamiya 74085 Tool Set or get yourself some JIS (Japanese Industry Standard) screwdrivers.
I have to say I think that toolset (ours is 74023) is pretty good, and very handy to take along when Junior and I are out and about. At home we use a few JIS screwdrivers, but the kit is a good start.
@PotatoRally Wonderful colour on a cool car, by the way!

Yes, @Ernoman - gotta love a bit of scratch building! - the new bumpers look great. I can hear the sound of the engine in my head ...
Keep us posted with the latest developments - it's always nice to see cars with a bit of "history" to them, the ongoing work.

@TexVan Yep, you can buy the whole kaboodle with motor, parts number 18085153.
Or the gearbox housing, TA-10005713.

I like thinking up and using my own colour choices ... but some of the Tamiya vehicles are such icons that the yellow of the Lunch Box or the red of Monster Beetle can be hard to just ignore. A well thought out colour or paint scheme can really make you see the "same old thing" as something new. As with your Egress, for example.

I've changed my mind on the Jun Watanabe Hornet - used to think it was an oddball cash grab - and maybe it still is ... but now I find it stands out for its crazy, happy looks.

Cheetah tire, truly unique but I think it is a standard 1.9
Was there even a standard back then? Tamiyabase mentions the Cheetah tires/rims as unique for that model (but has the same 77/29 mm dimensions as the XR311 as far as I can see).

Just bungling in here ... is the MF-01x less suitable for a "Rally" setup compared to the M-05/M-06? Or are they all as "good" (small rims and tyres, etc)?

Friday was ... yesterday? Hello?
So, since it is a long weekend over here (and school holidays for Junior) I can pretend it is Friday today. Or Friday every day for the next two weeks.
Well, it's business as usual, chores mixed with short stints of "something else". The weather has been grey, cold(ish) and rainy the last few days, so I am still waiting for a bit of sun and varmth to get on the 380 Schrott Racer painting.
Junior has been on a Lego kick lately, going back to building stuff, the characteristic sound of someone looking for just that piece in the box ...
I've been thinking about setting up a bit of son-and-dad racing lately, and I am scouting out a good place to run. Thinking either 380 or cw-01, but not decided on that.
We'll see what develops ...
Have a great weekend, folks!

Unfortunately all the sportscars with their screaming color schemes and being covered with sponsor stickers never really touched my heart.
I think the Previa sticks out from the crowd since it is so "usual and everyday" - nothing exotic, but becomes exotic in a way. And you know, "weniger aber besser" (less but better) is a way to express oneself creatively. Go for it, and show us the result.

HG in Japanese is Haka Gaga which means 'buttery smooth'.
That's another for the dictionary, alongside Sukoyaka, Healthy Racing and Haircut Motors.

You may be able to guess what it is.
It's a large indoor fan on wheels?

I missed out on the stuff in this post, @OoALEJOoO and posted in the other T3-01 tyre thread ... good information! 😊
For the sake of bungling everything into a right mess ...
here is the video on narrowing the (rally) rims (six minutes into the video):

Here he is taking a saw to a rim, about six minutes into the video - not super skinny tyres but much more realistic, I think:

That video seems a lot more sophisticated than the one I saw, even cutting with a lathe!
That's why I never tried it out - no room for a lathe on the kitchen table.
Hopefully, the video you are looking for turns up - would be interesting to watch.

All the ways we kids can play ...
The second one yes, the first one was a new idea (to me).

There was also a mention of putting Sand Scorcher front tyres on M rims - @Nikko85 perhaps? And I also seem to remember a discussion in the comments of this cool cat, sorry car:
https://www.tamiyaclub.com/showroom_model.asp?cid=133847&id=32151
(just want to mention that there is a bunch of wild builds on the 2CV out there ...)

I've been on the slow burn search for some skinny tyres ...
Is it perhaps this video @OoALEJOoO? I've watched it a bunch of times and now you reminded me of it again:

Oh yeah, that was a fast taxi ride!
Good to know that you could potentially fit a bigger NiMh in there - but perhaps a bit crazy with three wheels on the road ...
By the way, does the taxi have lights up front?

Lunchbox Hop... essential upgrades

The Grasshopper II/Rising Fighter A parts (TA-10005340) to improve the camber a bit. If you have some older pogo sticks in the right size (85 mm-ish) in the spare parts box, then even those are an upgrade to the originals, I think.
As has been said, keep it simple and go down the rabbit hole later, if you feel like.
