  1. I feel they are toys in the most literal sense of the word, however when I invest over 3-digits into my Tamiya, and a passerby makes a comment regarding my "toy", I cannot help but feel dirty - as if my whole build-up has been in vain.

    Its no doubt due to that derogatory connotation that was mentioned. If a passerby regarded my Tamiya in a politically correct manner, ie: as a "high-end" toy or model, I'd feel considerably better about it. :)

    In my opinion, traditional Tamiya R/C products are geared more toward the R/C model connoisseur. Tamiya has something for everyone, whereas other brands tend to specialize.

  2. I spent around $1400 USD to build a "completed" Clod crawler. I bought all new parts - Clod components, aftermarket chassis, performance parts, radio equipment, battery charger, etc. I could've spent at least a little less, as it was a learning experience the first time around. There are a few minor things I would've done different.
