  2. The most important part is to wash the body out with some strong dish soap (I use Dawn in the USA). For this yellow I go 2-3 light coats and then back with 1 coat of their normal yellow and then white and then black if desired. The lighter coats are best to let the layers cure and stick better. If you go too heavy they can flake and run very easily!

No problem, hope it was helpful in some way.  For the shocks I run 3mm spacers under the pistons to lower the car.  Sorry, should have been more clear on that.  I run stock internals on the shocks, but you can run TRF o-rings or whatever you choose in there.  I'm sure everyone but me is currently doing that :)   I actually think that's perfectly within the rules I just haven't done it yet and my shocks have been nice & consistent even as stock builds.  I drill a small hole in the cap of each one and that helps a lot with consistency.  May help your issues, give it a shot.  I think mine are 1-1.5mm holes.

Also, common sense but I didn't think about it when I first started - grab some of the cheap extended Tamiya foam bumpers and trim them to fit each body you run exactly.  Prevent the body moving due to air on the front end and also helps the body last longer since the front doesnt get pushed in and flex more during collisions.

I'm sure you already know this as well, but you can only run a few bodies - Mustang GT3, Mercedes GT3, Ford GT, Supra, 911 GT3.  I have tried the Mustang & Mercedes so far and hands down the Mercedes works better.  Its a lot lower and makes a difference, especially on high grip carpet.  The 911 is nice, but its a short wheelbase body.

That's what I figured I just wanted to be sure. Years ago we used to space the shock off of tower so I thought maybe that had come back lol!

I didn't think about the big bumper so thats on my next order list now, thanks!

I did get the Porsche for that very reason (well other than it looks cool). I think starting out with a short wheelbase will get my driving back smooth and then switch to the Merc or Ford gt. I have both of those as well.

  4. Wow great reply, thank you so much for all of this information!! I figured spec racing is figuring out how to cheat, so the handout motor, or open motor but with the spec 29/64 gearing is a great idea.

My only question is regarding the shocks. You said "3mm spacers front and rear", does this mean the 3mm spacer inside under the piston or space the shock out 3mm from the arm/tower?

Edit- Well another shock question...are we allowed to replace the o-ring in the bottom of the shock to a better one? I cannot get these things to be free of air. I have tried multiple times with zero luck. I use a shock air pump and pull all the air out, have this piston moving with no bubbles, and then when i finish building and compress they sqeak and are full of air again!

  5. I am building a TT-02R to TCS Pro Spec rules and looking for any info for a decent starting setup for higher grip carpet. Mainly shock settings, piston holes/oil weight. I will be running an oil diff in the rear and either the stock diff with putty in front or the spool. Tires will be Jaco or Gravity carpet tires. I have not raced in many years and seeing this class made me want to come racing again! Hopefully my "local" track 3.5hrs away will see this cheap and easy class and start racing it.
