Pretty much done now - decided since my kids are still fairly young this is likely to have the odd roll so opted not to paint it and just sticker it for now.
I had some red vinyl left over from another project so cut my own decal design loosely based on the monster beetle and peppered it with some of the sand scorcher decals.
Just the driver to fit and paint to finish it off, but basically finished - was an enjoyable little project.

Got the shell mounted, opted to use the standard king front mounts and drill the shell. Coming together nicely.

Looks great and some really nice mods.

Standoffs arrived so got those fitted today.
Has made a noticeable improvement in the first phase of travel which is what I had hoped for. Still lots of bump steer when past c50% travel but I knew this wouldn't completely solve it.
Also removed the oil from the shocks together with the o rings, they seemed to be adding too much friction.
Overall the front end is bouncier now and the suspension now seems to have more of an effect which is what I was after
Only slight concern I have is how robust they'll be but guess time will tell - and this is just a general basher so hopefully won't see too many heavy impacts!

Thanks - I had a mudblaster as a child (long since lost in a house move unfortunately) and the various changes to the king chassis are really neat.
Seen your mods to eliminate the bump steer but don't think I'm brave enough to go that extreme just yet!

Hi,
I've found this forum really useful so thought I'd post up my project - a king blackfoot chassis with some blitzer wheels and a scorcher shell - a sort of hop'd up alternative to just buying a new monster beetle.
Chassis done with new electrics, bearings, shocks etc and I also fitted some Chinese steering knuckles for a blitzer that should allow me to fit some 1cm upstands to hopefully negate some of the bump steer (once they arrive).
Runs nicely, just waiting for the shell to arrive now and then decide on colour/graphics.

Thanks - you could be right, I just used some oil I had so could have been too thick. I might revisit them with lighter oil and more holes in pistons.
