  1. I wash with soapy water a few times, rinse really well and leave to dry overnight. Then clean with 99.9% Isopropyl Alcohol, leave to dry and then start painting. No issues so far with this method
  2. I quite the look of that, somewhere between an old school Tamiya buggy and a Lego set. Can't help but wonder what a Rough Rider shell would look like on it though
  3. Yeah, I was excited about this one until I saw that price. I love nostalgia but not that much
  4. I tried to do something similar, but the call of a real sand scorcher was too much so I sold a few retro games console bits and used the money to fund a ReRe Sand Scorcher that I found on offer (£270) Much happier now
  5. I've not sold on ebay for years, they took way too much between themselves and Paypal. It got to the stage where I would rather give stuff away or just keep it. Recently my wife has been having a clear out and has mad a couple of hundred £ selling on Vinted. and the process is far easier than the last time I used evil bay. I might give ebay another go though with the zero sellers fee
  6. I think Vapour blasting would be the kindest to the parts and from what I've seen on full size car parts takes them back to original looking
  7. nothing really to add but I had a mouse grey '65 Canterbury Pitt converted VW split that I fully restored in the late 1990's, one of many air-cooled VWs I should never have sold
  8. An accidental re re Rough Rider , I know it's not called that now but it was when I had my original one in 1979/80. I've been wanting one for ages but could not justify the £320 plus price tag. Could not resist it at £265 inc postage from S C Models, thought I had missed out when I dithered about spending money I don't really have but one came back into stock when I looked again. Ordered 11:30 pm Friday and delivered 8:30am Sunday. Brilliant service. Unfortunately I have to hide it away until Christmas now. I will be looking for upgrades though if anyone can recommend any, and deciding what colour to paint it, my original one was red I think but can't find any photos Next on the hit list is a Willy's Wheeler, missed a used re re in January but keep hoping that something will show up locally, this was my second Tamiya Not at all envious @BuggyDad 😂
  9. Wow, that looks like the kit my Dad was building before I was born in the 60's Unfortunately never finished it before he departed, but I do have a NIB never run motor for it
  10. well, yesterday really, but finally painted my Christmas present. Please be kind, first build in 40+ years since my Rough Rider in 1979 (gosh I feel old) and first time cutting out a lexan body and painting one! And accidentally purchased a Hornet re re last week although my goal is to have another Rough Rider one day (got a sand scorcher shell waiting for that project too )
