As above, please let me know if you have one you would be willing to sell. I would like one in good condition. Thanks

Which of these 4wd would you choose, and why?

Mine will be completely standard, I read some of the threads on here about modifying kits and it's far too involved for me! I think the fox and boomerang will make good stable partners. -

Well, I've made a choice! After almost ordering the Fire Dragon when it was recently on offer with Tamico, my patience was rewarded this week when the boomerang was offered for 134 euros! I think I was always going to buy one of the older models, I remember them the first time around, plus I think they look better! Now I have another build to add to the list 👍 -
Thanks for the input, I've ordered the servo saver kit and will go from there 👍

I'm in the process of building a good BD from the mixture of parts that I have acquired. One of the kits I bought was complete and in the best condition by far, so I gave it a quick test run as a starter for 10. It ran fine, with the minor exception of when going in reverse, where the front wheels both developed a severe wobble! Upon further inspection, I noticed that the steering servo was mounted centrally rather than on the right (when viewed from the front). So I moved it to the correct position, altered the steering arm lengths to spec and put it all back together. Now, when reversing, the wobble has gone but the front wheels have quite a bit of negative camber and I just wondered if that was normal? Aside from the original plastic front uprights being replaced with aluminum, there are no modifications that I can see. So, do I have to find a problem or is it OK? Thanks

Can anyone help identify what has been used on the window sections of this bodyshell please? It was all painted internally as normal, but the whole bodyshell received a coat of black over everything so I can't see what this might be. Thanks

Thanks for the tip, it worked a treat 👍 Left it on for a couple of days to soften the old paint and it scraped off easily.

Thanks for the heads up, but as I already have the RC decals I'll be using them. The fox doesn't have any extreme curves so hopefully they will be ok.
-
Does anyone know if Tamiya wheels can withstand paint stripper, or if the plastic is likely to be damaged? Thanks

They are from an eBay store - rcdecals

A few items for project Fox (including custom decals). A few items for project Bush Devil, and finally some black shocks for my black edition MB build and a smattering of electrical goodies.
-
They're referred to as axles in the build manual (bush devil) as per the image. Super Blackfoot is the only cross reference I can find, King Blackfoot may be the same, but the item reference is different. Not sure where OP is based, but THIS seller on eBay ships worldwide.

Hmmm, food for thought. An enclosed chassis doesn't bother me as I'm used to it with the fox. Maybe I'll wait and see what offers crop up with Tamico to influence my choice. -
Unfortunately I haven't taken delivery of all of the parts yet, some are still en route!

I included the blockhead version of the Hotshot 2 because it is on offer with Tamico, although I think the rere hotshot 2 looks better! Terra scorcher was excluded because it's that bit more expensive, is it worthy of inclusion? -
I have now sourced the components to build a BD, but if you want to PM me with details of what you've got, I might be interested. Thanks

Already got 2 foxes, one is my original from the 80's which is going to be reconditioned (again) and put back in the box, the other will be mildly modified and used as a runner. I'd like to add a 4wd buggy to the rapidly expanding fleet and really my question should have been, which of the cars listed represents the best offer at their respective price point. I too am not that keen on the look of the dragon/shot cars but perhaps they drive the best? I potentially lean towards the hotshot having been desperate to own one back in the day but alas never did! -
Trying to make a decision, opinions requested!

I found the front of the chassis has a weak point where it joins to the front skidplate. A moderately hard front impact could easily snap it. I made a simple reinforcement plate out of thin gauge aluminium which helped a lot.

Fox rear upright spacers needed
Sillyoldfox replied to Sillyoldfox's topic in Vintage Tamiya Discussion
That looks like it will work. Largest spacer is 3mm so I can double up. Thanks -
As above, I need the small (7mm) spacers that fit on the top of the rear upright. They come on the D part tree but it seems daft buying the whole set for 2 small pieces of plastic. Can I get aluminium replacements somewhere?

Well I've now managed to get myself the various components to build up a bush devil, I'll report back as and when I make some progress!

Also, today the Golf GTI arrived. Nice little bonus that it includes a torque tuned motor which I was unaware of!

On Friday my ebay Fox purchase arrived and I have decided to do a few subtle mods to it and use as a runner, including retaining the front stabiliser. My original Fox can then be left standard and have an easy life.
